Otaku Witch

Chapter 708: Faith Unto Death (Part 2)

As expected of a natural Saint, with a flawless Dao heart, far beyond what my little tricks can sway.

"Uh, Lord Yama? Shouldn't you be inside working overtime?"

Seeing King Yan Luo suddenly appear behind her, Dorothy was startled and slightly puzzled.

"No matter how capable I am, there's no way I could manage the entire Underworld by myself, right?"

The petite King Yan Luo saw the confusion on the homebody witch's face and explained.

"Don't you have a talent for Spirit division too? I have a similar talent ability to split out some incarnations to help with the work."

The Underworld Ten Kings (SSR), that is her unique talent ability.

As King Yan Luo, she can transform one into ten, evolving into ten incarnations of Yama with different responsibilities to share the workload.

"Oh, I see, I see."

Dorothy nodded her head, easily understanding.

She had known before that this Lord King Yama was a Golden Immortal Sage, especially skilled in the Spirit System, so having such incarnation abilities was perfectly normal. What truly surprised her was why the Master of the Underworld, in such busy times, would send an incarnation to find her.

"I came to make a report, after all, Holy Ancestor, you will be the Lord of Japan from now on. Even though this Land of Underworld belongs to you, naturally, I would not dare to neglect."

Shiki Enma blinked, speaking this way.

The ruler of Mortal Japan, Amaterasu, had long surrendered, and now, as the Underworld Master of the Underworld, she should naturally show some wisdom too.

"So, Ancestor, do you have any instructions?"

King Yan Luo inquired.

"I see you seem to care about these souls. Do you want to resurrect them?"

Dorothy: "......"

Looking at the King Yan Luo in front of her, who suddenly struck a "Ancestor, just say anything and I'll do it" pose, the homebody witch felt a bit speechless.

Honestly, she actually felt a bit tempted by this suggestion.

After all, as such a kind-hearted good child, she could not bear to see others suffer. She loved happy endings where everyone is happy the most.

But in the end, she was only momentarily tempted; after all, transformation is not a fairy tale, impossible to be as beautiful as in a story.

If everyone were truly resurrected, then the previous efforts and realizations would seem ridiculously clownish, like make-believe.

So.....

"Just judge normally, judge as needed. Anyway, the Underworld lifetimes of these souls are quite long, and the days in the City of Unjust Deaths are far more comfortable than those struggling days in the Mortal World. Being resurrected would be suffering."

Dorothy spoke.

What she said was the truth. The days in the City of Unjust Deaths compared to the Mortal Heian-kyo could be described as a paradise, a fairyland.

Having died, this is true enjoyment.

However, she didn't shut off the possibility entirely.

"As for resurrection, I will propagate the ways of resurrection across Japan later. If anyone has the ability to resurrect innocent souls, then you shouldn't obstruct them, no hindering the approvals."

The homebody witch said.

Human nature is such that it often disregards things that are easily obtained, while craving and cherishing those that are hard to come by.

Unconditional large-scale resurrection is not possible, but conditional small-scale resurrection could be had.

In the past, Japan had no concept of resurrection from death, merely because Monster Mountain blocked the path to the Underworld, and now Japan has become entirely her territory, shifting Monster Mountain elsewhere or opening a small gap won't be difficult.

Moreover, Japan will connect with the outside world later on, and in terms of resurrection, it naturally needs to align with the Witch World.

Well, she's just trying to get a good ending in another way.

No choice, Grandfather Duo is kind-hearted, cannot bear to see others suffer.

Regarding this, the petite King Yan Luo bowed her head in acceptance, but her lips slightly curled up.

This New Saint Grandpa sure is a wonderful person. With such a ruler, Japan's future won't be a concern.

Even Lord Yama felt relieved in her heart.

Though she was reluctant to admit it, always priding herself as her mother's daughter, she indeed inherited Izanami's memories. As the Mother Goddess of Japan, she hoped these "daughters" would meet a dependable match.

Fortunately, Dorothy Grandpa is genuinely a good match.

"Lord, actually, after judging so many souls, other than those deservedly guilty souls from the Chinese Clan, most souls don't hate you. They genuinely admire and respect you."

Shiki Enma spoke.

"If, Lord, you revert to your previous Battosai attire now, maybe with a single sentence you could directly incite the majority of All Nations' citizens here, even if Lord planned to slay my Yama self, those guys would follow you to the death."

She said this, seemingly joking, yet not entirely joking.

Lord King Yan Luo has managed the Underworld and judged souls for tens of thousands of years. This is truly the first time she has seen such faith robust enough to transcend life and death, and on such a massive scale.

"Genesis", indeed its teachings are terrifying, yet truly inspiring.

However, the homebody witch, not knowing her Destined Canon had been secretly spread by her good roommate, naturally didn't take King Yan Luo's words seriously.

Going to the Underworld to rally old troops, waving flags to slay Yama and such, things like these are wishful thinking; she, an ordinary little witch, doesn't have such immense prestige.

Still, Lord King Yan Luo's words did indeed make her feel somewhat better.

Though she was prepared to accept global soul resentment, if she wasn't hated, and even some genuinely understood supporting her, then that naturally is better.

Hmm, comrades, you've worked hard, now you can rest and recuperate in this Underworld. The matters after shall be entrusted to us.

She took one last look at the souls queued up, then prepared to walk towards the Path to the Underworld.

Time to rise from the coffin; she has many tasks to complete afterwards, and she can't let down the fruits of change fought with life's struggle, right?

"Oh, by the way, how's Izanagi?"

About to leave Yama's Palace, Dorothy suddenly remembered and asked.

Shiki Enma then summoned the Hell Scroll with a wave.

Dorothy glanced at the scroll painting of Hell, discovering a new Hell had been added below the prior Eight Hot and Eight Cold Hells, where Izanagi's soul was imprisoned.

"A new Hell I specifically opened for Father Lord. I understand for someone whose desires are never-ending, his greatest pain is unfulfilled desires. So, I will ensure he eternally wanders in the agony of unfulfillment, encountering failure every time he nears success."

"I named this new Hell Avici; Lord, how does it sound to you."

King Yan Luo, proud as if flaunting a new toy to a child, presented her creation, looking at Dorothy, awaiting her evaluation.

"Hmm, this sounds fantastic. I'm comforted."

Dorothy, also with a face of comfort, nodded then confidently strode away.

The petite King Yan Luo's figure faded too, joining back into this long overtime life.

...

The judgment efficiency of the Ten Halls of Yama is exceptionally high; many souls have actually ended judgment already, with not much sin to punish, soon being settled in the City of Unjust Deaths, making this massive Underworld Metropolis even more prosperous.

Yet, some of these new souls remain restless; though life in the City of Unjust Deaths is good, people lack faith, which isn't right, so.....

"Hey sister, could I take a bit of your time? I want to tell you about our Japan's Merciful Father and former master—Battosai Tsukimi Kuro's story, and let's learn about this Holy Hammer which recorded the Holy Scripture "Genesis."

"It's free anyway, why not believe a little, otherwise, the Holy Hammer is also great for smashing walnuts."

..... Soul Evangelism in progress...
