Otaku Witch

Chapter 679: Murder Mystery Game

Late at night, Sophia finished her work for the day and returned to the Yae Residence.

The Pure White Witch originally planned to return to her room to continue reviewing the documents that she couldn't finish during the day. But as she passed by Dorothy's room, she noticed there was still light and the unmistakable sound of knife sharpening.

Sophia frowned slightly, but she still knocked on the door.

"Come in."

A familiar voice quickly came from inside.

Only then did the Pure White Witch push open the paper sliding door and see the situation inside the room.

In the center of this Japanese-style tatami room was a low table, upon which rested an oil lamp. The flickering wick cast a dim glow.

And her young lady was sitting beside the low table, with a sharpening stone and a basin of water in front of her. She was intently grinding the long knife in her hand, examining the cold, gleaming blade under the light every few strokes, while the mirror-like smooth blade reflected eyes even colder than the blade itself.

Scrk, scrk, scrk.....

Accompanied by the rhythmic sound of sharpening, this image of night-time knife polishing was quite murderous and filled with menace.

This stunned Sophia, making her expression serious.

Young lady usually seemed carefree, and it was the first time for the Pure White Witch to see her like this. Did something happen?

Just as she was wondering, the Homebody Witch opposite couldn't hold back, breaking into her usual silly grin.

"Hahaha, how was it? Got scared by me, huh? As expected, my acting skills are still good. Yes, yes, this scene is good, the cool me looks handsome. I'll think of a way to put it into the script later."

Dorothy said triumphantly.

Sophia: "......"

The Pure White Witch felt like she was a big fool for worrying about the young lady just now.

"So, my young lady, you stay up all night sharpening a knife just to show off in front of me?"

Angel Witch had a tic mark on her forehead, suppressing the fury of a day's overtime, questioning the young lady who dumped all the work on her while lounging around and showing off here.

Dorothy: "....."

Ah, this....

Seeing her roommate's gaze sharper than the scene she just performed, the Homebody Witch immediately sat upright, obediently kneeling beside the low table and patted the seat next to her, signaling Sophia to sit and talk.

"Well, Sophia, you have to hear me out, oops, I mean listen to my explanation. I'm not fooling around, just thinking about the script."

Dorothy hurriedly explained.

"Script?"

Sophia was taken aback.

"Yeah, the thing is, we're short on money, so I..."

The Homebody Witch recounted today's events, and only after hearing it all did the Pure White Witch understand.

"Magic Shadow? That's indeed a good idea."

Sophia nodded.

This is also a common strategy for promoting Witch Territories. Many tourist-oriented Witch Territories spend significant resources on this kind of soft advertising each year. Even the teacher's territory had previously invested in some war-themed Magic Shadow shoots for real recruitment.

"So have you thought of the script?"

The Pure White Witch asked again.

Though she agreed with promoting the territory's characteristics through filming a Magic Shadow, she was doubtful whether the young ladies could make a good Magic Shadow.

After all, Magic Shadow filming is notoriously difficult, with most newcomers' first works ending in failure. If you have enough time to try and adjust, it's fine, but wanting to finish everything in just one month seems rather implausible.

Of course, since this time the young lady is involved in the filming, Sophia didn't outright dismiss it as impossible because the young lady had achieved countless impossible things before. Who knows, maybe she'll create another miracle?

"The script, actually I haven't really thought about it, nor do I need to."

Upon hearing the inquiry, Dorothy first shook her head, then nodded.

"What do you mean?"

Sophia was somewhat puzzled.

"I mean we're actually filming a documentary this time, so no script is needed. Reality is the script."

Dorothy carefully applied special sword oil to the Demon Blade in her hand, then inspected the perfect blade of the Red Shadow in the light, nodding with satisfaction. She said while sheathing the sword.

"Documentary?"

The Pure White Witch was surprised, genuinely unexpected.

After all, who makes a territory promo into a documentary? It's as bizarre as the packaging of junk food bought from a supermarket looking exactly like its advertising picture.

Most Witch Territories aren't perfect, but that doesn't stop anyone from hyping their place as a paradise during advertising and promotion. After all, making money requires these small marketing tactics, which aren't disgraceful.

But it seems the young lady is going for seriousness this time.

"How do you promote with a documentary?"

Sophia asked somewhat helplessly.

"The Japan Island theme is excellent Magic Shadow material. Outside witches are always curious about this mysterious Immortal retreat. Moreover, we've accumulated quite a bit of popularity due to the previous success of autobiographies like 'Japan Travels' by the Lucky One."
