OP: Sovereign of Blood and Seas

Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Shadows of Infamy

The stolen ship sailed under the moonlight, its tattered sails catching the faint breeze. The blood-soaked docks of the small port town faded into the distance, but the tension on the deck was palpable. Nami leaned against the ship's railing, her gaze fixed on the horizon, while Eric sat cross-legged on the deck, sharpening his dagger.

"Do you always attract that much chaos?" Nami asked, her voice breaking the silence.

Eric smirked without looking up. "I wouldn't call it chaos. More like… a lively evening."

Nami's lips twitched, though her expression quickly hardened. "You killed a bounty hunter, Eric. Someone like Ironfang doesn't work alone. His connections will come looking for answers—and revenge."

Eric finished sharpening his blade and stood, tucking it into his belt. "Let them come. I've got no plans to run from anyone."

"You're impossible," she muttered, shaking her head.

Eric stepped closer, leaning on the railing beside her. "You're still here. Either you're as crazy as I am, or you're starting to think I'm not so bad to have around."

Her cheeks colored faintly, though she quickly turned away. "Don't flatter yourself. You're just useful—for now."

He chuckled softly, but the amusement didn't quite reach his eyes. The fight with Ironfang had taken a toll, not just physically but mentally. For all his bravado, Eric couldn't ignore the weight of the bounty hunter's dying words.

"Someone stronger will come for you."

The system chimed, breaking the uneasy silence.

Eric's eyes widened as he read the new ability description. The potential uses were staggering—he could already imagine the chaos he could unleash with weapons formed from his own blood.

Nami noticed his sudden stillness. "What is it?"

"Another upgrade," Eric said, a grin spreading across his face. "This one's a game-changer."

She frowned. "What kind of upgrade?"

Eric hesitated. Revealing too much about his abilities felt risky, even with Nami. But the trust between them had grown in the past few days, and he couldn't ignore the fact that she'd had his back in every fight so far.

"I can create things from my blood," he said finally. "Weapons, armor, maybe more. Haven't tested it yet."

Nami's eyes widened. "That's… disgusting."

He laughed. "And incredibly useful."

She shook her head, though there was a glint of intrigue in her gaze. "Just don't get any ideas about using it on me."

"No promises," Eric teased, his grin widening.

The next morning, they reached an uncharted island, its rocky cliffs and dense jungle offering a secluded refuge. The ship anchored in a hidden cove, and Eric and Nami spent the better part of the day gathering supplies and making repairs.

As the sun dipped toward the horizon, the sound of approaching wings caught their attention. Eric looked up, spotting a large bird carrying a satchel in its talons.

"A News Coo," Nami said, stepping forward.

The bird landed on the railing, squawking loudly as it extended its satchel. Nami retrieved a few berries from her pocket and placed them in the satchel, pulling out a freshly printed newspaper in return.

Eric watched as she unfolded the paper, her eyes scanning the headlines.

"Anything interesting?" he asked.

Nami didn't answer immediately. Her gaze froze on one of the pages, her expression shifting to a mix of disbelief and frustration.

"You've got to be kidding me," she muttered, holding the paper out to him.

Eric took it, his eyes narrowing as he read the headline.

"New Player in the East Blue: The Blood Shadow Emerges!"

A grainy illustration accompanied the article, depicting Eric mid-fight on the docks, his dagger in one hand and his controlled puppets wreaking havoc.

**"In a stunning display of power, a mysterious figure known only as 'The Blood Shadow' has made waves in the East Blue. Witnesses describe him as ruthless and deadly, utilizing strange abilities to dominate his enemies. Bounty hunters beware—this is no ordinary pirate.

Current Bounty: 20,000,000 berries."**

Eric lowered the paper, his jaw tightening. "Twenty million?"

Nami snatched the paper back, glaring at him. "You're an idiot. A bounty this high in the East Blue is practically a beacon for every pirate, bounty hunter, and Marine in the region."

Eric shrugged. "I guess I'm moving up in the world."

"This isn't a joke, Eric," Nami snapped. "You're not just some unknown anymore. People are going to come after you—and they won't stop until you're dead."

He met her gaze, his expression steady. "Let them come. I didn't survive this long just to get taken down by amateurs."

Nami groaned, pinching the bridge of her nose. "You really don't get it, do you?"

"I get it," Eric said, his tone softening. "I know the risk. But if I start running now, I'll never stop. This is who I am now, Nami. There's no going back."

She stared at him for a long moment before sighing. "You're impossible."

"Maybe," he said, a small smile tugging at his lips. "But you're still here."

Nami turned away, though he didn't miss the faint blush on her cheeks. "Don't push your luck."

The following days were tense as they waited on the island, avoiding any nearby ships or Marine patrols. Eric spent hours testing his new ability, shaping blades and shields from his own blood. The process was exhausting, but the results were worth it.

By the third day, he felt confident enough to put his skills to the test.

The opportunity came when a group of pirates landed on the island, their ship mooring in the same cove Eric and Nami had hidden in. Eric watched from the shadows as the crew disembarked, their leader barking orders.

"These guys don't look friendly," Nami whispered, crouched beside him.

"They're not," Eric said, his grin sharp. "And they just walked into the wrong island."

Nami grabbed his arm. "We can sneak away before they find us. There's no need to fight them."

Eric shook his head. "This isn't just about survival anymore. If I want to make it in this world, I need to send a message. People need to know I'm not someone to mess with."

Before Nami could argue, Eric stepped out of the shadows, his blood dagger forming in his hand.

"Hey!" he called, his voice carrying across the cove. "Looking for something?"

The pirates turned, their weapons drawn as their leader stepped forward.

"And who the hell are you supposed to be?" the leader sneered.

Eric grinned, his blood dagger shifting into a curved blade. "Someone you're going to wish you hadn't met."

The fight was brutal, a whirlwind of steel and blood as Eric unleashed his powers. He summoned weapons from his own blood, cutting through the pirates with precision and ferocity.

Nami watched from the sidelines, her knife at the ready, though she didn't need to intervene. Eric was a force of nature, his movements swift and deadly.

By the time the last pirate fell, the cove was silent. Eric stood amidst the carnage, his blood-stained blade dissolving into mist.

"Message sent," he said, his voice steady.

Nami approached cautiously, her expression unreadable. "You're insane," she said, though there was a note of grudging respect in her tone.

"Maybe," Eric replied, his grin widening. "But I get results."

She shook her head, though her lips curved into a faint smile. "Come on. Let's get out of here before someone else shows up."

As they boarded the ship and set sail once more, Eric couldn't help but feel a strange sense of satisfaction. He was carving out his place in this world, one fight at a time.

And his legend was just beginning.
