Chapter 31 - Jade in the Wrong

Yin Hu looked around the clearing and wells. Jun and Shui moved closer to him. Leaving the tubs forgotten and half filled with clean well water.

The guards had vanished. Xiong Hui was running and disappeared after turning into an alleyway. All the beggars and remnant people that had been around the edges or in front of homes were no longer there. Entering their homes or rushing away from the area.

It seemed like everyone knew what was about to happen before Yin Hu and his group. They were the last people to figure it out. It irked him fiercely that he had no time to plan ahead or set something up as a trap. Maybe even prepare the girls to contribute to him beating these mortal assassins and weak cultivators as training.

Get them ready and used to the idea of doing the heavy lifting for him. The ultimate plan was to be doted on and taken care of by his disciples and beauties. Not the other way around!

What's the point of a cryptic message if there had already been an announcement! Why not just make it even more obvious instead of us having to guess it!

"Jun," He placed a hand on her shoulder to steady her. The other holding the dagger tight. "Take us to a narrow alleyway."

She nodded. Shui followed in their footsteps as they began to move at a slower pace than he would have liked. Making sure the little girl was not left behind. Yin Hu wanted to pick her up and just bolt after Jun, but his persona needed to be maintained no matter the situation.

It was good practice to fight the assassins without people watching. Get used to keeping his facade. Even when someone was trying to take his head off.

Jun darted into the alleyways. Taking a series of lefts and right into areas he was not familiar with. He recalled the sequence of turns and stops they had made the very first day here. His escape plan from their house. Yin Hu had come far already.

He shook his head imperceptibly, while keeping up the running pace. This was no time to reminisce already. More importantly, that was an old peoples' thing. Not a young strapping lad like him. He would not suffer the old title. Even if he was an ancient ancestor to some long living clan.

Yin Hu considered switching out into different clothes more suitable for fighting. Then he remembered that the system only offered robes, dresses, and under clothes for men. Nothing else. No pants or shirts. No suits and ties. Only extravagant cultivator robes or ripped vagrant ones.

Jun took another sharp turn. Yin Hu followed closely. He almost crashed into Jun when she stopped abruptly. Dodging out of the way when Shui came next. Slamming into the older girl and tumbling to the ground. Jun did not even shift slightly.

She snapped her staff to point forward.

Yin Hu looked up.

Holy shit.

A Jade Beauty stood sideways in the middle of the alleyway. Tights. Perfectly proportioned. Bending down at the waist to grab a piece of broken pottery. Well endowed everywhere. Silky hair down that was held tight at the base with a single purple hair bodkin.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

She rose back up. Turned towards them with a gorgeous smirk.

Yin Hu gulped.

Holy shit.

The first Jade Beauty he had ever met in a world filled with the hideous and ugly.

A group of three stepped out from behind a building. Another jumped down from atop a roof and landing gracefully, much like Jun. Posing. These Jade Beauties had daggers in their hands unlike the first. Blades that were already stained in red, dripping blood.

"Ancestor," Jun took a hesitant step back. He could see the tremble in her arms. "T-that's them. Killing intent. I-its suffocating."

Fuck! Why'd the first Jade Beauties I find turn out to be assassins?!

"Life," said the first Black Widow. "Is fragile. Some precious enough to care for and protect from the darkness and evils. While others—"

She crushed the broken piece of pottery in her palm. Turning it into dust. Her eyes surveying Jun up and down, finding her unworthy. The other Black Widows stepped forward, each one as beautiful if not more beautiful than the last. While the main one was the pinnacle of their group.

They spread out wide.

"—are worthless. Deserving to be crushed and destroyed. Just like you three." She threw the pottery dust into the air.

Yin Hu sighed, rubbing his eyes and massaging the bridge of his nose. This was about right if he had gotten the measure of this cultivation world. All his plans going to the trash and his ultimate goal of finding beauties impossible.

Because all of the Jade Beauties would obviously be the villains trying to kill him. Why not, right? Everything had to be just wrong. That was the motto of this world as he kept figuring out day after day. It was only normal that he would never find one to take care of him and dote on him.

He looked down at his dagger. Holding it in front of him. They would either die or this thing would be covered with blood. Jade Beauty blood. The system pinged him as soon as he mentally asked it to. Pulling up the name and identity of his blade.

Yin Hu could have taken out his spear, but the alleyways were slightly too small to swing something so big. Or maybe a sword. But decided against both. He felt an emotion he hadn't experienced in a long time. A distaste in his mouth that left his stomach queasy.

The emotion of anger and wrath did not settle into him well. Disappointment, relief, confusion, and joy were his go to. He didn't like it and it was muted. But different enough from disappointment that it was clear.

He stepped forward and past Jun. She immediately took a massive breath, falling to her knees. Jun probably was too young to have faced any threat. Hence, immediately panicking when it came down to it unlike the stoic, extreme confidence she usually carried.

It was okay. Yin Hu was about to wipe the floor with these gorgeous, beautiful, scorching hot mortal assassin ladies.

But first, he wanted to give them an out. A chance to negotiate. To give up into his wandering hands, or leave this place completely. He would not give them a second. Even if he wanted to give them a dozen instead of the singular one.

"Hey," Yin Hu said. Cracking his dagger out of its sheath slightly. "How you doin?"

All five Black Widows stepped back. Their eyes searching the surroundings for something. Shui gasped, Jun grabbed the little girl and took a few steps back of her own. Eventually all of their gazes settled on him. Watching and waiting for his next move.

Yin Hu noticed little of it. Still in his own world trying to figure out this foreign distaste and muted anger in his chest. He waited for the lead Black Widow to say something. Anything.

But she didn't. Instead bracing herself in preparation for a fight. He had extended the proverbial olive branch in hopes for a chance to get to know them better and…

He gulped and quickly cleared his throat. Trying to hide the expression.

While it wouldn't matter soon enough to the assassins, unless they ran away, he still wanted to keep his ancestor persona intact towards the girls under his ward.
