Oops, I Accidentally Ascended to Godhood

Chapter 77: Mindless killing machine

590 Million Gold Coins Interest with Disgusting Default Penalty

The interest alone was 590 million gold coins, with a disgusting default penalty on top.

Tarkan wasn't angry. He outright signed the document and forwarded it back to Thiago, who wore a satisfied expression.

"I like decisive men," Thiago said.

He immediately went inside and brought out a slick-looking scabbard for the sword, the kind meant to be strapped across the back.

"This is a gift from I, Thiago Shop," he said proudly.

Thiago happily held the slick-looking scabbard in his hands, presenting it like a prize.

Tarkan instead looked at the scabbard, then at Thiago, as if the man was a moron. What gift?

Thiago, seeing the disgusted look Tarkan gave him, a look Tarkan didn't even bother to hide, knew exactly what was going on in his mind.

Cough, cough.

"It's just business, bro. No hard feelings," Thiago said, coughing in embarrassment.

Tarkan completely ignored him. He picked up the sword, strapped it on, and immediately left the shop.

Because if he stayed a while longer, he couldn't say for sure if he'd be able to control his fist, Thiago's face looked so punchable.

Thiago watched them leave.

Even his previous worry about the city was nowhere to be found. He couldn't help but hum a happy song as he went back to his desk and continued gobbling down his food.

Tarkan, who had planned to go to other shops, immediately changed his mind and left for the city wall to check what was going on.

When he got there, there were a lot of people lined up with weapons, ready to go outside the wall to battle. They were being organized by the city soldiers wearing badges.

The big guns he had seen when he entered the city were all roaring now, firing outside the wall where the monsters were.

Tarkan couldn't see the monsters trying to break into the city. But he guessed the sound he was hearing, the thunder of countless feet, was the stampede of monsters rushing toward the city, shaking the ground so much that the whole place seemed to vibrate.

"As it is now, our network has been jammed. Any use of teleportation is futile. We are trying our best to work through it and call for reinforcement, but the city needs to be standing for us to do so.

All the creatures you will be fighting are of the feral tier. Our captains are already engaged with the high-ranked beasts.

As long as you participate, you can take whatever you want from the creatures you kill. The city will not ask for anything from you. Thank you."

Similar speeches were repeated by officers assigned to each batch being formed.

Tarkan hadn't planned on joining the battle. He only came to see what the commotion was all about.

But the moment he heard that most of the creatures were feral tier, he immediately found a newly forming batch and joined without hesitation. Slim, who was following him, also joined.

Tarkan wasn't worried one bit about Ricky, even though he didn't see him. He believed Ricky was grown enough to take care of himself.

From the information Tarkan had read, the beasts were able to enter the dimension without any hiccups. Unlike humans, who needed to undergo a trial and pass through the first dimension, the creatures immediately started from the second dimension without any trial or rubbish like that.

The monsters reproduced faster than humans and had a population many times larger.

It wasn't only the creatures of this world, many other races also started from the second dimension.

The reason why it was different for humans was never mentioned anywhere.

But to make up for it, humans were able to awaken talents, unlike beasts who mostly relied on bloodlines to gain their abilities.

And compared to the creatures, humans tended to evolve faster.

Apart from that, humans could also use creature corpses and cores to create weapons, artifacts, and potions, closing the gap between the two.

There were three reasons Tarkan decided to join the battle.

First, if what the officer said was true, and most of the creatures attacking were of the feral tier, then this was the safest place for him to grow stronger. Safer than the dimension, where there was no guarantee a higher-tier creature wouldn't suddenly swoop in.

Second, just like in the second dimension, all creatures had cores. Humans also had them, but it was made illegal by the Alliance to absorb them. Still, humans were humans. He could use this means to gather money for that scammer Thiago and pay him off once and for all.

If he still had enough after that, he would browse for techniques. Aries had only taught him the basic principles of everything and didn't go further, hiding behind some dumb clan ritual.

Since Tarkan had gotten this far without much help from them, he wouldn't need their help in the future either. To hell with them.

Third and the most important reason, was so he could take his new weapon, now strapped to his back in an X-shape, for a spin. His hands were itching to use them.

After their batch was full, an officer was assigned to them, giving almost the same speech Tarkan had heard earlier.

After that, they were immediately deployed out of the city to join the battle.

Stepping out of the city, almost instinctively everyone took a step back, wanting to retreat into the safety of the walls.

Tarkan couldn't help feeling shocked.

Even though it was night, the light from the city wall illuminated the battlefield. As far as the eyes could see, the wild field was filled with monsters still rushing forward in large numbers.

Beams from the city wall's cannons tore into the battlefield, but as soon as an area was cleared, other creatures would mercilessly stomp on their comrades, covering the space without a care, smashing them to meat.

They moved like mindless machines sent only to kill at all costs.

At the front of the battlefield, people were barely coping with the beasts' overwhelming numbers.

The battle looked grim.
