Chapter 34 - Die, Worm!
In this vast universe, battles between races and slaughters between civilizations are merciless. If I spare you, in the end, you would still destroy me.
Only when all methods have been exhausted without resolution is compromise the only option.
Wu Ge’s manned warship kept closing in. The opponent seemed to panic, creating a huge electric net as if to trigger it and destroy the electronic equipment of Wu Ge’s warship should they come any closer.
This was essentially a huge EMP bomb, highly effective against electronic devices. If the electronic devices inside Wu Ge’s warship were damaged, those inside the warship would surely die!
Wu Ge continued to pressure the opponent, while Sister Mei had left her synthetic body and flew towards the opponent. She was quick, entering the giant bug’s body in a very short time and then started to search for the core that stored the opponent’s soul.
“Stop!” The bug did not notice Sister Mei. It threatened Wu Ge, “Come any closer, and I will release an electromagnetic pulse to destroy your warship. Even if you are a divine being, once the body dies, the spirit will also perish.”
Wu Ge frowned, “The opponent seems to know a lot of universal knowledge. It would be good if we could capture it alive.”
The Fox Immortal spoke, “I can confuse all the opponent’s bugs in an instant, for about ten seconds.”
Wu Ge nodded, “Ten seconds, that’s enough!”
He left the cockpit and put on his cosmic battle power armor, taking with him the most technologically advanced sniper rifle of the time. He then took out a bullet from his pocket.
This bullet was engraved with numerous runes, and its interior faintly radiated a significant mental force. Wu Ge placed this bullet against his forehead, then started chanting, transferring his mental power into the bullet.
This was a magical artifact refined by Wu Ge, usable only in the universe because there is no air in space. Only in the absence of air resistance can such a rune-engraved bullet fly properly.
Wu Ge said, “Let’s show the opponent what it means to shoot a warship with a sniper rifle.”
There was an old saying about using a cannon to kill a mosquito, and now, a divine gun to shoot a warship.
The Fox Immortal said, “Originally, I asked you to refine a flying sword. Now, we can only use this one-time rune bullet. Compared to the flying sword, the bullet’s power is too small.”
Wu Ge replied, “Although the flying sword can be used continuously and has enough power, neither its speed nor its range compares to this one-time rune bullet. Sister Mei, have you found the opponent’s neural center?”
Sister Yi responded, “I’ve found the bug’s brain, heart, and hatching space. I’m sending you the location now.”
Wu Ge, wearing his cosmic battle power armor, went outside the warship. He used a rope to secure himself to the ship’s surface, then aimed his sniper rifle. The rune bullet was already loaded in the magazine.
Xiao Chao warned, “Long exposure in the universe’s environment can affect firearms and ammunition. Please shoot as quickly as possible!”
Most guns invented by humans can shoot in space because the propellant in bullets contains its oxidizer. Bullets fired in space fly faster and farther. Plus, Wu Ge’s bullet, containing his mental power, makes it even more powerful.
How powerful? For instance, if this bullet were fired at a warship, it could penetrate through. If it hit the engine or other critical parts, destroying the warship wouldn’t be difficult.
After all, this is a bullet enhanced with mental power!
“Let’s begin, Fox Immortal, tear open a gap!”
As Wu Ge finished speaking, the Fox Immortal immediately exerted her power. Her nine tails stood tall, and steam emanated from her head. Meanwhile, the giant bug and many small bugs more than two thousand kilometers away suddenly became frantic, attacking their surroundings as if seeing invisible enemies.
At the same time, the special liquid covering the giant creature’s skin began to thin out, exposing parts of its skin.
At this moment, seizing the opportunity, Wu Ge pulled the trigger, shouting, “Die, bug!”
Although Wu Ge shouted loudly, in space, his gun made no sound. However, a flash at the muzzle followed by a streak of golden light shot out.
This was like the descriptions in fantasy novels, where a golden light flies out just by opening the mouth, and the enemy’s head is cut off before even seeing what it was. Or, in martial arts novels, where the protagonist flicks his hand, and suddenly there’s a hole in the opponent’s throat.
These descriptions all point to one thing: speed, incredible speed. The bullet, wrapped in mental power, turned into a streak of golden light and shot out.
At the same time, the ropes securing Wu Ge snapped one by one due to the immense recoil produced at the moment of firing the gun. It could be said that if not for these sturdy ropes, Wu Ge might have been propelled backward at a velocity as rapid as the bullet was shot forward.
However, as the ropes around Wu Ge broke, a soft, large net appeared behind him, capturing him completely and, after several spins in the air, pulled him back into the warship.
After all this, the bullet Wu Ge fired, which was incredibly fast, reached the battlefield in about three seconds, which is considered very quick.
The bullet could no longer be identified as a bullet. Wrapped in golden light, it appeared as a golden ray. Although far from the speed of light, it vastly exceeded the reaction speed of any biological entity.
The bullet instantly penetrated the creature, passing through its heart without losing momentum. Unlike the hearts of organisms on Earth, this creature’s heart was more akin to a warship’s engine. After the rune-enchanted bullet pierced the creature’s heart, a massive explosion occurred in the creature’s heart. Its internal flesh was evidently much more fragile than its exterior, scattering countless bugs in panic too late to escape as the creature exploded from within. Its heart, being the energy core, exploded with a force comparable to dozens of hydrogen bombs.
Sister Mei, being a spirit, made a timely return, not daring to stay within the blast radius since extreme heat and cold could harm spirits.
Numerous chunks of the creature’s flesh were blasted away. It had no blood but flesh, which, upon being accelerated, gained immense kinetic energy. Thus, even the bugs that avoided the explosion were killed by the scattered flesh pieces.
In the final moment of the creature’s explosion, a long message was transmitted. The four received this message immediately and then fell silent.
This message told the tragic history of this race.
“We are the Star Worm Civilization from the Kabuno Solar System. Thirteen hundred years ago, we suffered a heavy blow from a technological civilization. Our planet was destroyed, and we began to wander.
