Chapter 32 - The War of a Single Creature
The alarm issued by Xiao Chao startled everyone. The Nine-Tailed Fox Immortal, wearing a thin short T-shirt and denim shorts, showcasing her excellent figure that caught Wu Ge’s attention for a few extra moments, walked out.
Sister Mei also came out; she now possessed a synthetic body that housed her soul.
Xiao Luo was dressed in a white lab coat, leading in scientific research far ahead of the others.
The group arrived at the command center, and then they heard Xiao Chao say, “A gigantic creature has arrived in the solar system and triggered the Earth network surveillance system I set up near Earth. It is rapidly approaching our location!”
Wu Ge asked, “What kind of creature?”
A hovering panel suddenly appeared, and everyone looked towards it, only to see a huge racket-shaped creature. This gigantic creature was bigger at the front and smaller at the back, round at the front and straight at the back. The tail, resembling a racket handle, was ejecting blue particle streams, providing powerful propulsion for it to fly towards Earth at high speed.
The creature’s skin was pitted and scarred, with two very noticeable large holes from which flesh was drifting out.
Xiao Chao said, “I have already issued a warning to it, but it has ignored it. Therefore, I suggest dispatching an unmanned fleet to exterminate this creature!”
The creature’s size data was quickly retrieved. Wu Ge and his team saw a conceptual diagram of the creature, annotated with its length, width, and height.
Compared to benchmarks, the creature was about as large as three sports stadiums.
Wu Ge said, “Dispatch the fleet to intercept it. If it gets any closer, take it down!”
Xiao Chao had built a dockyard twenty years ago. Over these years, Xiao Chao’s unmanned fleet had grown to 30,000 units, each as big as a stadium, filled with countless unmanned bombers and fighters, and an uncountable number of robots.
Besides the fleet, Xiao Chao had also deployed defensive weapons like space mines, laser defense towers, and suicide drones in several key areas around Earth. If the creature got close to Earth, it would face the fiercest firepower.
Upon receiving Wu Ge’s order, the military version of Xiao Chao immediately got the military version online. The military version immediately said, “The enemy’s combat strength is unknown, send three thousand unmanned bombers for a probing attack.”
Earth’s orbit was equipped with seven drone pads, housing countless drones. The bombers used missiles, while the fighters were armed with laser weapons. New drones would be continuously manufactured to replace any that were damaged.
This was Xiao Chao’s current combat strength. Due to slow technological development, although it could quickly manufacture a vast fleet, the tech level of the fleet remained stagnant, leading to the creation of expendable fleets and drones.
Under Xiao Chao’s command, three thousand drones left the pads and majestically flew towards the giant creature.
Since sound doesn’t travel in a vacuum, Wu Ge and the others could only watch the silent footage.
The three thousand drones approached the giant, and after about thirty minutes of flight, the bombers finally entered missile range. The colossal creature continued its advance towards Earth, determined to reach its destination.
Facing this stubborn giant, numerous bombers launched missiles, over fifteen thousand of them streaking across the sky and hitting the creature’s skin. However, the creature’s thick skin meant that the bombardment only added a few more craters to its surface. In response, the creature began to accelerate, and its body surface started to bulge.
Suddenly, these bulges cracked open like blooming flowers, and car-sized blue flying insects emerged.
The tails of these blue insects had particle ejectors, spraying blue particle streams as they charged at the drones. With their special engines, the blue insects were faster, catching up to the bombers and destroying them with plasma balls ejected from their tails.
Seeing this, Wu Ge immediately said, “It’s almost certain the creature means harm. Deploy the fleet, eliminate the enemy!”
Military Xiao Chao spoke, “The enemy has launched an attack on our forces. Dispatch ten thousand warships to annihilate the enemy!”
Military Xiao Chao didn’t deploy the entire fleet, as deploying all 30,000 warships could lead to insufficient space for maneuvering. Ten thousand warships would be enough to surround the enemy from all angles without any blind spots.
As the ten thousand warships left the dockyard, Military Xiao Chao added, “The remaining twenty thousand warships are on standby, ready to replace any damaged ships. Repair vessels are also on standby, ready to fix any retreating damaged warships.”
As the unmanned fleet advanced, entering the range of the warships, countless lasers and missiles were fired, and numerous unmanned fighters and bombers launched from the ships.
New bulges appeared on the giant creature’s skin, and then over fifty basketball court-sized elongated blue plasma worms flew out. These plasma worms formed a spherical shape and cooperated to release an immensely large net of electric balls.
Once formed, the net of electric balls rapidly expanded. Any drone touched by the electric net instantly exploded. Not only that, but as the net expanded, many forward warships lost contact with command upon contact with the net.
Military Xiao Chao, unemotionally, stated, “The rate of warship damage has reached 15%. All warships are to retreat immediately. Hydrogen bomb launch ports are open, hydrogen bomb volley to begin in 10 seconds!”
Before Wu Ge and the others could grasp what was happening, Military Xiao Chao had already changed the plan. Its response was much faster than humans’. After calculations, it was 100% certain that their current technological level of warships could not harm the opponent, so it decided to use humanity’s most powerful weapon.
Wu Ge also understood the key point and said, “Prepare the manned warships. If the hydrogen bomb doesn’t take out this opponent, it looks like we’ll have to step in!”
The countdown for the hydrogen bomb launch had begun, and countless warships on the battlefield had started to retreat. The colossal creature relentlessly pursued, and countless strange insects burrowed out from its skin, beginning to devour the warships that had lost contact due to the electric net.
“10, 9, 8…”
The hydrogen bombs started to be pushed out of the launch ports.
