Only I Walk Alone

The time reporter was born out of an accident, but after his birth, he received immense love and care. He had the freedom to choose a job he liked. However, as his clan members left one by one, he felt sorrow. After the last clan member left, he lived alone for forty-four years.

But now, reality told him that his clan would not perish. The star pulled them back, and the divine artifact was about to start charging.

This was what made the time reporter feel the most despair. The disaster would not come, things were changing, the situation was improving, but you would never come back again.

The time report ends here. The last report was written by this time reporter forty-five years in advance. It reads: “The apocalypse has arrived. The last member of my clan, XXX, was completely frozen due to the extreme cold. My body, my consciousness, everything will stop and vanish. My clan will be extinct at this moment.”

Everyone, after reading this, realized they had finished all the content recorded on the metal plate. They all had a burning question in their hearts: What exactly happened to this planet? Why did it become fragmented? Did the last person die? If so, how did they die?

Reading the content on the metal plate took just over an hour, but they felt like they had witnessed nearly a century of history, the long life story of a baby growing up, maturing, and finally aging.

After finishing reading, Wu Ge gave an order: “All elders and knights of the God Religion Church, mobilize and use the divine artifact detector to find the divine artifact!”

The elders and knights of the God Religion Church immediately took action. The scientists and explorers couldn’t contain their excitement. They were eager to find out the truth, but the divine artifact could only be sought by the God Religion Church’s elders and knights; it was too dangerous for ordinary people like them.

These people secretly imagined what had happened to this planet. This was the most fascinating part; the joy of exploration was here. Why did the planet become like this? What exactly happened here?

Everyone had the same question.

A scientist said, “According to theory, if the planet kept being pulled back by the star, it would inevitably be swallowed. But this planet was pushed away to here and became fragmented. Could some external force have affected this planet?”

Another scientist said, “I studied the shape of this planet carefully. I found that it is missing one-tenth compared to its original state. Looking across the entire triple star system, I couldn’t find the missing tenth. So I speculate that the planet must have experienced a super explosion, and the explosive force pushed the planet away from the star.”

Hearing this, everyone suddenly had an epiphany. They followed this scientist’s line of thought and then reached a startling conclusion: The divine artifact exploded, and the immense power pushed the planet away from the star. But because the force was too great, it caused the entire planet to become fragmented. The planet cracked, and the core cooled rapidly, which is why the planet looks like it does now.

This hypothesis gained everyone’s trust, especially the next day when an elder of the God Religion Church found a piece of the divine artifact. He presented the fragment to Wu Ge, who, after examining it, said, “This is a broken piece of the divine artifact. The original shape of the artifact should have been like this.”

Wu Ge simulated the appearance of the artifact, which resembled a bottle cap. This artifact was hidden inside the planet and could absorb thermal energy, creating a habitable space for intelligent beings within it.

The scientists confirmed their previous speculation and started a new one: “Could it be that the proximity to the star caused the artifact to absorb too much energy and explode?”

This hypothesis seemed very plausible, but Wu Ge said, “Unless the artifact was in zero-distance contact with the star, it wouldn’t be fragile enough to explode like this. Especially this artifact, I can feel that before it was destroyed, it was at least a Level Four artifact.”

In the universe, civilizations classified artifacts into nine levels, with Level One being the lowest and Level Nine the highest. The Void Spirit Ring was considered a Level Two artifact, while this bottle cap artifact was at least a Level Four artifact before its destruction.

Everyone was startled. The Supreme God’s words were undoubtedly correct, so they must have been wrong. If the artifact had been in zero-distance contact with the star, the planet would have melted long ago, not ended up fragmented like it was.

Wu Ge carefully caressed the artifact fragment. After a moment, he said, “Increase efforts to collect the fragments of the artifact!”

Although the bottle cap artifact seemed small, it must have contained a vast internal space before its destruction. Now, with the artifact destroyed, that internal space no longer existed, leaving all clues on that metal plate.

In fact, Wu Ge already had a rough guess. His guess was that the sole surviving member of the unknown civilization had successfully controlled the artifact and caused it to self-destruct.

This could be achieved using the Great Prayer technique.

Long ago, a Tiger Man from the Demon Race had used the Great Prayer technique, sacrificing his powerful soul to successfully send information back to Wu Ge twenty years ago.

Such power could naturally cause an artifact to self-destruct.

This also explained the significance of a sentient being’s soul and why divine civilizations relied on the power of faith.

As time passed, the elders and knights of the sacred religion collected more and more fragments of the artifact. Finally, when Wu Ge had gathered enough fragments, he cast a super powerful spell, using these fragments as a medium to step onto the river of time and travel back to the past to witness the events that had occurred.
