Chapter 79: Celestial Academy...
After killing countless abominations, Aleron slowly drifted to sleep.
The seven days span of time given by the mysterious goddess had already passed.
While Aleron was asleep, his consciousness quietly drifted away, silently appearing somewhere else.
He was startled, but after staring at the stars in the void, he realized where he was.
He snapped his gaze towards his surroundings and noticed a figure not too far away. Her expression was serene as she stared lightly into the void, as though she was unbothered by the worries of the mortal world.
Seeing such an expression on her face, a look of longing appeared in Aleron's eyes. He yearned to have such an expression, standing at the peak of the world.
"I have made my decision," Aleron called out lightly, walking towards the celestial goddess.
She turned to Aleron, facing him with her multicolored eyes which glowed with a series of colors. The galaxies within the depths of her eyes could not be hidden in the slightest.
"What is your decision?" she turned away from him, asking calmly.
"I want to take my summoned beast with me, and then I will accept to enter into the Celestial Academy."
Hearing his words, the celestial goddess smiled lightly.
"Just that?" Aleron thought for a bit.
Recalling the mission the system had given him, he smiled and repeated, "Just that."
The goddess nodded.
"In that case, is there anything you need to do apart from revenge? Let's head to the academy."
Having not completely recovered from the death of his brother, Aleron sighed and shook his head slowly.
"There's nothing else. As long as you bring my summoned beasts with me, I have nothing else I need." He was also slightly apprehensive.
So the goddess was spying on him? Or could it be that she could read his emotions?
Aleron didn't know the answer to this, but he felt he had to keep his guard up around the goddess.
The goddess nodded, then said lightly, waving her hand.
"You can choose to return back to your world after six months at the Celestial Academy," the goddess said, understanding that there was still a measure of revenge Aleron hadn't completely accomplished.
After that, she waved her hand and a blinding white light flashed, engulfing Aleron and his dragons.
Aleron and his dragons couldn't feel the passage of time as they quietly appeared at a different place entirely.
They had finally arrived at the Celestial Academy.
The blinding white light faded slowly, allowing colors to seep back into Aleron's vision.
Aleron opened his eyes fully, and what he saw stole his breath away.
He was floating above a massive continent suspended in the stars, as if the landmass itself defied the laws of reality.
Islands of floating marble spiraled around the central land like orbiting moons, their edges glowing faintly with ancient runes.
Waterfalls cascaded from floating platforms into nothingness, vanishing midair before touching any surface.
Above him, there was no sun, only a sea of constellations and moving galaxies, bathing everything in a soft, shifting glow.
The skies danced with auroras of gold, violet, and blue, painting the clouds in shimmering layers of divine light.
The Celestial Academy stood at the heart of this suspended world, and it was nothing like Aleron had ever imagined.
A palace carved entirely from a singular piece of starlit crystal rose into the sky. It twisted and spiraled like a divine flame frozen mid-movement.
Its towers pierced the heavens, crowned with floating sigils that pulsed with celestial energy.
Entire gardens bloomed in the air, rooted in platforms that floated weightlessly, their petals releasing faint notes of music instead of scent.
At the base of the palace stretched a grand plaza, paved with tiles that seemed to shift with every step.
Dozens of bridges arched over rivers of light, connecting different floating halls and pavilions. Each structure was unique, shaped by a different school of thought, a different element, or even a different realm.
Aleron stood in silence, completely overwhelmed. The dragons beside him, Ashkar and Veldora, let out low, astonished growls, their eyes wide and gleaming.
In the distance, he saw other figures. Students dressed in flowing robes of silver and obsidian, some meditating midair while others sparred atop floating stone rings, their summoned beasts clashing beside them in silence.
There were wolves, eagles, shadows with eyes, titanic plants, and even creatures made purely of light.
Aleron's gaze narrowed.
A low voice echoed beside him, one that rippled through space without needing to travel through air.
"Impressive, isn't it?"
He turned to find the celestial goddess standing beside him once again. She no longer had the gentle expression from before.
Now, her presence was distant, as if she had become one with the very stars themselves. Her robe flowed like the tail of a comet, and even the space around her seemed to warp.
"This is the First Gate. The outer region of the Celestial Academy," she said. "The further you go in, the stronger the students you will encounter. Most of them are your seniors, be respectful. And at the center lies the Celestial Nexus, where students are forbidden from treading."
Aleron remained silent, absorbing every word.
"There are ten levels of authority here," she continued. "Students from countless realms are ranked accordingly. You will start at the bottom. The only thing that determines how far you rise"
"Is strength," Aleron interrupted, his voice calm but determined.
The goddess smiled faintly.
"Correct. Your summon will be placed into a stasis fusion chamber for evaluation. You will be assigned a cultivation hall and tested by the Nexus Flame to determine your innate celestial potential."
"I have no interest in being evaluated," Aleron replied quietly, his voice sharp. "Just tell me where to start."
The goddess tilted her head, her multicolored eyes studying him.
"You remind me of someone," she said, smiling faintly. Aleron didn't know if that was a good or bad thing, but he wasn't too bothered.
"Get acquainted with the other students. The information on what you need to do at the academy will naturally be revealed," she said lightly. Then a sigil appeared beneath her feet, and she vanished into a wave of blinding light.
As she drifted away, her faint voice echoed in Aleron's mind.
"Don't be worried about your curse. It is inactive in the academy."
Aleron's expression froze.
"What?"
