The molten armor finally receded, peeling back from his body like cooling slag.
Steam rolled off him in thick, curling sheets as the fused form's immense power unwound.
Veldora's draconic presence slipped from his bones, while Ashkar's cold calculation ebbed from his mind, leaving him with the faint echo of their combined strength.
The silence that followed was not peaceful. It was a smothering stillness, heavy and unnatural.
The horde was gone. They had not been driven back, nor were they retreating. They had been torn apart, erased in pieces by the Tier Five's rampage, while the survivors scattered under the shock of its fall.
The system flared to life before his eyes.

Aleron blinked, momentarily stunned. His suspicion had been correct—it had indeed been an origin ability.
His gaze shifted immediately to the origin ability section.

A surge of joy swept through him as he read the words, and he went over them again to make sure he had not misread.
The ability was already at A-grade. There was no need for him to expend any effort upgrading it further.
For a moment, he considered whether he possessed any other ability worthy of upgrading to the same level. After a short deliberation, he realized there was none.
Exhaling slowly, he pushed the thought aside and prepared to check a few other details.
That was when a peculiar sensation began to flow through his body.
His eyes widened slightly as the strange current surged within him.
The dragons were about to break through.
At this realization, Aleron wasted no time lingering amid the remnants of the abomination horde. Once this was over, it would be time to visit the Genesis Coil again.
He turned toward the distant mountains and shot forward at lightning speed, his wings beating in rapid succession and propelling him high through the sky.
When he reached the mountain forest, he immediately deactivated the fusion ability.
His monstrous form shrank rapidly, separating from the two dragons.
The moment they were free, Veldora veered to one side while Ashkar swept toward the heart of the forest, his wings creating powerful gusts with each beat.
They could no longer suppress their breakthroughs.
Veldora dove headlong into the forest, crashing heavily onto the ground. She paid no mind to her appearance, surrendering entirely to the bliss of her advancement.
Origin energy surged toward her in thick waves, pouring into her body and causing her form to expand.
The energy seemed to seep into her bones, altering her shape while her aura grew steadily stronger.
Aleron felt no concern about the intense energy attracting enemies. For reasons still unknown, the abominations never dared approach this mountain forest.

The dragon lay sprawled on the ground, his body undergoing a transformation similar to Veldora's.
Aleron could not help but feel a spark of pride. Once Ashkar completed his breakthrough, he would have a son at the Origin Expert level.
During their fusion, his strength would finally rival hers—the woman from the Genesis Coil.
His hands tightened into fists. One step at a time, his power was growing. The day would come when he would crush her and erase the Genesis Coil entirely.
He could still remember when he was just a weakling, but now his strength could already rival that of the clone of one of the higher-ups of the organization.
Before one knew it, Aleron would destroy the Genesis Coil.
'Then my parents,' thinking of the ones who sold him aleron, suppressed the anger in his heart. He turned to the direction of the dragons.
Ashkar's body swelled in size, the transformation pushing him from the dimensions of a mid-sized vehicle to nearly twice that bulk.
The process dragged on for hours.
Unable to remain idle, Aleron slipped out into the surrounding wilderness, slaughtered a few abominations, and returned with their meat. Soon the scent of roasting flesh filled the forest, rich and savory, curling through the crisp air.
When the meat reached a perfect medium rare, he tore into a piece, the juices spilling across his tongue in a burst of flavor.
It was a strange scene—watching two dragons ascend in power while eating the flesh of their enemies—but it was one he would remember.
Veldora was the first to finish. Her aura receded slowly, merging back into her body, though the weight of her presence remained.
Even when suppressed, the majesty of the Forbidden Dragon could not be hidden.
Aleron's attention shifted to her as she approached. Her sapphire eyes glittered like crystal, and the very air around her seemed to carry a faint pressure mingled with a soothing calm.
She was now the size Ashkar had been before his transformation.
"Dad," Veldora called softly as she drew near.
"I have completed my breakthrough," she said, a quiet joy laced in her voice.
Aleron nodded, reaching out to pat her head and rub it gently.
"You did well. Congratulations on your breakthrough."
He gestured toward the food. "Here. Have some while we wait for your brother. We will need our strength, for soon we will finally have fun with humans."
Something in the glint of his eyes made Veldora uneasy. Perhaps her father's definition of fun was not what others would consider pleasant.
Still, she could not identify what was wrong.
Her gaze fell upon the cooked meat nearby.
"Since my brother is not here, I can finally eat to my heart's content." Her voice was tinged with excitement, and she began devouring the meat with astonishing speed.
Aleron simply shook his head and turned his attention back to the flashing system notification.
[Congratulations on the successful breakthrough of your dragon, Veldora.]
[The Abyssal Eyes have leveled up.]
Finally, his ocular ability had grown stronger. There was also the Infernal Eyes, and he wondered just how devastating they would become once Ashkar completed his rise.
The thought made his heart pound with restless anticipation.
Without hesitation, he opened the description of his upgraded Abyssal Eyes.
