Only God

Chapter 633: Dividing the Spoils of War

Eden gasped for air, lying under the tree roots, while Mona knelt beside him, striving to cleanse the influence of Lodzmer's Blood Mist.

Gradually, with Mona's help, the world in Eden's eyes was no longer a pile of color blocks, his thinking became clear, and his body no longer sluggish. Leaning on the tree for support, Eden slowly stood up.

"Is it over?"

Eden asked.

"It's over, he's dead."

Mona pointed to Lodzmer's half-remaining body.

It was such a bloody scene, but Eden was too exhausted to even feel nauseous.

"Alright, alright..."

Eden gasped and said,

"We won, we solved a big problem, thank you."

A Witch came over and gratefully said,

"It is we who should thank you.

We have struggled for so many days and couldn't take him down. If it wasn't for you, who knows how many more sisters would have fallen victim."

Eden nodded slightly.

Mona smiled gently and pointed to Lodzmer's corpse, saying,

"He has quite a few good things on him, we've collected them all, do you want to take a look?"

Mona meant that Eden should take whatever he wanted.

Eden nodded again.

Another Witch came over, bringing a large bundle.

She unfolded the bundle and laid out everything within before Eden's eyes.

Eden glanced over them briefly.

Something like a notebook, a dim and unclear coin, three or four Magic Scrolls, a complicatedly decorated booklet, some potion recipes, a small, dull stone piece, and two small stone statues.

"What are these...?"

Eden asked.

Mona introduced them one by one:

"This is Lodzmer's notebook, and this coin should be a 'Misfortune Coin', these are Magic Scrolls, this is a booklet recording some of the Devil's names, these are recipes, this stone piece... its purpose is currently unknown, I can't even recognize what it is, and these two statues are probably gargoyle embryos."

Listening to Mona's introduction, Eden carefully looked at the items. Pointing to the coin, he asked,

"What is a 'Misfortune Coin'?"

"As the name suggests, it's a coin that makes one lose luck. It's a tool Wizards use to turn the tide of fortune.

It causes people to lose their luck for the next few days. However, the luck doesn't disappear into thin air; it's stored up. Once those unfortunate days are over, the accumulated luck will burst out, and during this period, the coin's owner will be extremely lucky."

As she spoke, Mona picked up the coin and continued,

"It's very simple to use. You just need to establish a Spiritual Link with it. If you want to stop using it halfway, you can also break the Spiritual Link."

After listening to Mona's explanation, Eden found the item very interesting.

To lose one's luck for a few days, then have it explode all at once.

If he lost his luck through it and then, on the day when the luck burst forth, happened to travel to the future...

With such a thought, there was hardly an item more useful to him than this!

Eden stared at the coin, then after a moment, shifted his gaze to examine the other items. Subconsciously, his eyes landed on the stone piece.

For some reason, he felt the stone piece was familiar.

Subconsciously, Eden touched the Stone Pendant around his neck, then looked down at it.

This small action didn't draw anyone's attention.

"It looks... really similar."

Eden exclaimed after comparison.

That stone piece really resembled the Stone Pendant around his neck.

The difference was that the stone piece was much smaller, no bigger than a fingernail, like a lifeless object with no power at all. If it weren't for the small patterns on it, the Witches would certainly have treated it as an ordinary pebble.

He observed it carefully and found that the stone piece fit with certain parts of the Stone Pendant, like a corresponding notch.

Could they be pieced together?

Eden wondered in his mind.

Then, he looked at the other items.

Lodzmer's notebook? Somewhat useful to him, it could provide more information, especially about the Fahela Sect.

But compared to the stone piece and the Misfortune Coin, it seemed somewhat lackluster.

The Magic Scrolls were directly out of the question, as he didn't understand any witchcraft.

The booklet of the Devil's names... not bad, but seemingly not very useful, given that his divine Path naturally repressed evil spirits, so a booklet of Devil's names was just the icing on the cake.

The potion recipes and gargoyle embryos... these things were almost as good as no use to him.

After hesitating for a moment, Eden spoke,

"I will take three of these."

He was being a bit cunning here.

He didn't ask whether he could take three items.

Instead, he just stated that he would take three.

Mona beside him considered for a while, then shook her head and said,

"That's too greedy, you can only take two items."

Eden thought about it, took a deep breath, and said,

"Alright, it has been a pleasure working with you."

As soon as the words fell, Eden reached out and picked up the stone piece and the Misfortune Coin, putting them into his pocket.

"That stone piece, do you know what it's for?"

Mona curiously asked,

"I thought you'd take the Misfortune Coin and the Devil's booklet or Lodzmer's notebook."

"I don't know what it's for either, but... I'm hoping to try my luck."

Eden vaguely prevaricated.

Of course, he wouldn't expose the Stone Pendant to the Witch Gathering.

He hadn't even told Veldor, let alone the Witches.

Even though they seemed much better than other Wizards, in the end, they were a group of folks who walked on the edge of the law.
