Chapter 617 Prophet Abyss
Eden's eyes flashed with surprise.
During his time with the caravan, he had come to understand, to a greater or lesser extent, the organizational structure of heresy.
The so-called Sixteen Holy Servants imply the holy servants of the King of Kings. In the faith of heresy, before the throne of the King of Kings, there are sixteen Great Angels, and His earthly kingdom has sixteen Holy Servants corresponding to the sixteen Great Angels. Each of them was granted the grace to govern the rewards and judgments within the church. In a certain sense, they are the living prophets.
"Why has the servant of the King of Kings come here? Is it just for... preaching?"
Eden asked tentatively.
"Scholar, I don't think so. Just for preaching, anyone could come. The last time a Holy Servant came to such a place, it was for a new conquest campaign. Uh... Oranto, the Main Priest, personally came here... I think it's probably related to the newly discovered Prophet Abyss."
The heretic bookseller explained this.
Prophet Abyss?
Eden caught the term and quickly asked:
"What do you mean?"
The heretic bookseller looked around to make sure no one was nearby, then lowered his voice:
"Scholar, I'm telling you because you've looked after my business. Don't tell anyone else.
As a bookseller, we are always well informed. It is said that... in the 'Abyss Chronicles,' the Abyss into which Prophet Azizhar plunged herself has been found.
The Holy Servant... has come here, I guess, to call people to pilgrimage, to dedicate themselves to the sacred cause."
The pilgrimage of heresy...
Contrary to the heretic bookseller's expectation, he did not see an expression of excitement on Eden's face, but rather saw his brows tightly furrowed.
Just when he thought Eden was uninterested and felt somewhat at a loss,
Eden took out two silver coins from his bosom and handed them to the bookseller.
"May you be protected."
After saying this, Eden left.
The heretic bookseller grasped the two silver coins with a grin from ear to ear.
After returning to the inn, Eden fell into deep contemplation.
"The Abyss Chronicles" is one of the most important Scriptures of heresy, ranking third in importance and also the shortest in length among them.
It recounts the story of Prophet Azizhar, one of the earliest prophets of the Giant King Sect and the only female prophet.
This Scripture, compared to other Pagan Scriptures, has one unique aspect:
Prophet Azizhar performed no Miracles, nor did any divine signs appear in her story.
This greatly contrasts with other Scriptures filled with divine signs or miracles.
Eden read the original text, which contained straightforward content.
The Synopsis of "The Abyss Chronicles":
Prophet Azizhar revered the King of Kings, often speaking with God, claiming there was no creature in the world with a faith more steadfast than her own.
Thus, the King of Kings led her to a cliff, where she looked down into the pitch-black abyss, swallowing all light, its bottom unseen.
Azizhar asked God: "King of Kings, what do you ask of me?"
"You will be shattered to pieces," God said, "You jump, for there lies an abyss a thousand fathoms deep."
Thus, Azizhar leaped into the abyss without hesitation.
The story of "The Abyss Chronicles" ends abruptly here.
Despite its brief span, the studies on it in heresy surpass many other Scriptures. The Holy Servants of heresy believe that within this short text, there might be profound meanings, even concealing the supreme revelation of the King of Kings.
Although Eden, being a Priest of the True Religion, was not interested in these, he was curious about the Prophet Abyss mentioned by the bookseller.
"That prophet... plunged into the abyss without hesitation...
What exactly is inside that abyss?"
Eden murmured to himself.
He felt an overwhelming curiosity, indescribable.
It was as if God manifested within his heart.
"God... it really must be you manifesting, it must be your arrangement."
Eden muttered to himself.
Hoping...
It wasn't a manifestation or arrangement by the King of Kings.
............
The day the Holy Servant arrived, Eden saw the flood-like zeal of the heathen believers.
The streets were packed, the crowds surged like schools of fish, clamoring and cheering, welcoming the servant of the King of Kings. Almost no order existed as even the Guards joined the frenzied crowd.
People scrambled for better positions, causing noise, quarrels, redemption, and even fights, all to get closer to the Holy Servant. Some extraordinarily devout individuals even kissed the imprints of the Holy Servant's shoes and knelt on the ground praying; others followed suit. Many couldn't stop shedding tears upon seeing the Holy Servant and trembled uncontrollably. They also scrambled for the vestment robe casually discarded by the Holy Servant, tearing a simple Vestment robe into pieces, as they plunged into a collective fervor.
Eden felt that this atmosphere surpassed even the zenith of the True Religion.
That man Oranto, in the city's Scripture Institute, gave a speech as the bookseller had mentioned, calling everyone in the name of the King of Kings to journey to the Prophet Abyss, to undertake a great pilgrimage. He told the people that devout faith would find its promise there, and they would receive the grace of righteousness.
"Believers, remember the 'Great Miracle' from the Scriptures? Years of arduous devotion just for this moment, fill your bodies with faith and righteousness like the ancients, follow the righteous path, receive teachings, and even let significant cities be destroyed if necessary!"
The Holy Servant preached, his words having a more compelling call to action than even the monarchs' decrees, enveloping the city with irresistible enthusiasm.
