Only God

Chapter 606: Engage in Battle

"Fire has broken out!"

"Fire has broken out! The wizard has set a fire!"

The clamor was incessant; Eden looked up and saw where the guards were gathered, flames flickered amid the thick smoke that rose tumultuously, and the fire began to spread rapidly, treating the surrounding tents as prey.

As a soul in flight, Eden quickly arrived above the camp. He looked down and immediately spotted the assassin.

The flames roared fiercely, and the dense black smoke almost enveloped the entire camp. The guards were in disarray, even starting to flee in panic, with cries, curses, and prayers... all these sounds mixed together.

The raging fire did not affect Eden. Amidst the thick flames, he saw a huge, terrifying devil.

"Boru, Ausus."

Purification of Evil Spirits.

As the Ancient Language was uttered, the Holy Light gathered in Eden's hands, forming into a Radiant Spear, which streaked towards the devil faster than thunder.

The Holy Chorus's path inherently suppressed devils, ghosts, and evil spirits. As the Radiant Spear flew, Eden saw the devil being penetrated by the light.

However, unexpectedly, the devil did not dodge or avoid it. Instead, it raised its hand, and several soldiers who were burned to death rose from the ground. Then, when the Radiant Spear pierced the devil's body, it was instantly swallowed up, causing no damage. And several burned soldiers exploded, sparks flying everywhere.

In this scene, those soldiers who were burned to death acted as scapegoats for the devil.

At this moment, the hideous devil turned its head, looking in Eden's direction, and issued a hissing laugh:

"I finally lured you out."

This detestable voice echoed through the air, as the devil seemed to suddenly lose interest in the Princess. Its body twisted around, its arms wide open, and dozens of Flame Skulls emerged from its chest, smashing towards Eden like meteors.

Eden was stunned for a moment, then quickly began to chant the Ancient Language,

"Boru, Ausus."

Another Purification of Evil Spirits. This time, Eden spread the Holy Light from himself as the center, not forming it into a spear. Dozens of flame skulls suddenly paused mid-air and then exploded.

Yet, the offensive did not end with the breaking of the skulls. As each Flame Skull shattered, it emitted a shockwave, and dozens of these shockwaves merged together to form waves of burning souls. Eden couldn't dodge in time and felt a searing pain in his soul.

This pain was very similar to the one he experienced facing the devil earlier, but it was far more intense.

The devil burst out in arrogant laughter. Behind it, more and more guards rushed forward. The devil raised its hand, the flames grew fiercer than before, and waves of fire surged up, encircling it and forcing the surrounding guards to continually retreat.

Meanwhile, more explosions sounded from other directions in the camp. It seemed there wasn't just one devil; more assassins were spreading chaos throughout the camp.

More Flame Skulls flew out from the devil's body. Eden hastily retreated, realizing the devil's target wasn't Arsia but himself!

The devil was not about to let Eden escape. Riding on the rising flames, it opened its huge jaws and a massive roar burst forth,

intertwining and overlapping with the crackling sounds of the raging fire.

The gigantic roar nearly shattered Eden's soul. The Holy Chorus, lacking in combat means, had almost no power to fight back against the devil. Eden experienced an indescribable pain, feeling as though he was about to burst from the inside out.

Flames exploded in the air, bursting out in waves of sound. Flames sprang up from all sides, with various terrified screams audible, sounding like the cries of children.

The devil raised his left hand, forming a huge crimson whip and with a fierce crack, lashed out like a sky-devouring python towards Eden. The priest clenched his teeth tightly, retreating with all his might, trying to return to his body; however, as the whip drew closer, death seemed just inches away.

At that moment,

A sharp bell tolled suddenly, its reverberations sweeping towards the devil. The devil's body shuddered, and the flame whip slipped from his grasp, disappearing into thin air.

Eden seized the opportunity to escape the devil's pursuit, sweeping backward and reentering his own body.

He turned around and saw that other Night Watchmen had arrived just in time.

The devil, unwilling to let Eden escape, roared in anger, shaking the ground itself.

One of the Night Watchmen recklessly charged forward, but the devil turned and, with a hand shaped like a blade, brought down a huge flame strike, instantly splitting the Night Watchman in half and sending flesh and blood spraying in all directions.

After killing a Night Watchman, the devil ran towards the direction Eden had escaped, while flames around him continued to burn, turning large swathes of the camp into ashes.

"Poal."

As an Ancient Language fell, a Night Watchman extended his arms, and suddenly, the temperature plummeted. Ice spikes surged from the ground, extinguishing the flames along their path and piercing the devil, slowing him down noticeably.

"Dola."

A sound like a dragon's roar followed, and God's Path shielded the Dragon Slayer Night Watchman who now faced the devil. Dragon scales emerged on his body, and with a wide open mouth, he swallowed all the surrounding flames. The devil's body shrank significantly, rendering him almost comical.

The devil delivered another slashing strike, but the Night Watchman captain brought his hands together; the bell tolled once more, and the devil's body abruptly stuttered, his strike vanishing into nothingness.

"We can't stay any longer!"

"The operation has failed!"

An invisible voice rang next to the devil's ear, and he, reluctant and frustrated, roared:

"Lodzmer, Lodzmer! You cowardly wizard!"

As his roar ended, almost everyone instinctively covered their ears as circles of flames surged towards the devil, enveloping him as he disappeared, leaving behind countless dark ashes on the devastated land.

With the enemy gone, Eden gasped for breath, suddenly covered his mouth, and then spat out fresh blood.

"Damn it…"

Eden murmured.

His soul had been injured during the battle.

"Thank God, thank God… it's just a minor injury… God, praise you."

Eden praised God, then leaned against the tent and sat down, realizing that if not for the timely support of the other Night Watchmen, he would have perished on the spot.

That devil, possessing the power of at least a Third Rank God's Path.

And such a powerful devil, instead of coming to assassinate the Princess, had come specifically to kill him.

"Why is this…?"

Saying this, Eden's gaze fell on the stone pendant hanging on his chest.
