Chapter 542: Endless Tidal Domain [3]

Immediately, he activated his spatial manipulation, reality folding around him as he teleported away from the flamingo's strike zone. The creature's taloned foot crashed into the water where Arthur had been standing, sending up a massive geyser that reached toward the cloudy sky above.

Arthur materialised roughly fifty meters away, grateful that the domain was spacious enough to allow for more manoeuvring. The aquatic battlefield stretched approximately a kilometre in both width and height, providing ample room for combat despite the endless water.

"Fast little bird," Arthur noted with genuine appreciation for his opponent's capabilities, his katana already drawn and ready for the real battle to begin.

The Tidal Flamingo's twin heads swivelled to track his new position, four eyes blazing as it realised this human possessed abilities that would make the hunt far more challenging than anticipated.

"Ooh, the big pink bird is really speedy in the water!" Aether observed with excitement, his tiny claws gripping Arthur's shoulder tightly.

The legendary creature's furious shriek echoed across the domain as it prepared its next assault, water beginning to swirl ominously around its massive form.

The flamingo's fury reached a boiling point as it decided to end this confrontation decisively. Its twin heads began moving erratically, and suddenly the water beneath Arthur's legs transformed from liquid to something resembling thick, viscous gel.

Arthur's eyes widened as he felt his legs become completely immobilised, trapped within the water that had solidified around him like concrete. He tried to lift his feet, but the substance held him fast with supernatural strength.

"What the—" Arthur immediately attempted to activate his spatial manipulation, preparing to teleport away from the obvious trap.

Yet, nothing happened.

Shocking enough, he was unable to teleport. The flamingo's water manipulation had somehow created a spatial lock around his position, preventing any form of dimensional travel. This legendary creature was no longer playing around—it was fighting to kill.

Unable to teleport, Arthur immediately turned to his summon. "Winter Beast! Intercept that flamingo!"

The Winter Beast responded instantly to Arthur's mental command, its body moving with immense speed as it spotted the Tidal Flamingo beginning to form an incredibly large sphere of water above its twin heads. The aquatic mass grew rapidly, swirling with devastating force as the flamingo prepared to crush Arthur with what was clearly intended as a finishing blow.

Large icicles began materialising around the Winter Beast as it channelled its power, each icicle gleaming with deadly sharpness. With pinpoint precision, it launched the ice spears toward the flamingo, aiming to disrupt the creature's casting and force it to abandon its devastating attack.

Meanwhile, Arthur remained completely immobilised, his frustration mounting as he tested the water's grip on his legs. The substance held firm, refusing to yield to physical force or spatial manipulation.

He cursed inwardly before turning to his shoulder-mounted companion. "Aether! Use your space talent to teleport me out of here!"

The tiny void dragon immediately attempted to comply, his obsidian scales shimmering as he channelled his spatial abilities. But after several seconds of concentrated effort, Aether shook his small head with obvious disappointment.

"Can't do it, Master! The water-lock thing is too strong for me to break through!"

Arthur's mind raced through alternatives when Aether's eyes suddenly lit up with inspiration, as if a bulb suddenly lit up in his mind. The small dragon's voice carried excited realization as he shared his idea.

"Master! Since you're locked in place by the water, I can try to teleport the surrounding water that's locking you! Then you can jump and escape, and I can grow big so you can ride on my back before more water comes to trap you again!"

Arthur's eyes glinted with appreciation for his companion's clever thinking. "Excellent idea, Aether! Do it!"

Aether immediately leaped from Arthur's shoulder, his tiny wings carrying him into the air as his body began expanding rapidly. Within seconds, the kitten-sized void dragon had grown to his full combat form—large enough for Arthur to ride comfortably without any issues.

Hovering above the trapped Arthur, Aether grinned with anticipation. "Ready, Master?"

Meanwhile, the Tidal Flamingo had grown increasingly annoyed by the Winter Beast's constant harassment. The ice spears were disrupting its concentration and forcing it to divide its attention between maintaining Arthur's trap and completing its devastating water sphere attack that could seriously injure or kill the human trapped.

The legendary creature made a tactical decision—deal with the persistent ice-wielder first, then finish the immobilized human at leisure. After all, it was completely confident in its water-lock ability. No creature had ever escaped once caught in that particular technique.

The flamingo redirected its massive water sphere toward the Winter Beast, the aquatic projectile crashing forward with tremendous force. The Winter Beast responded by launching its largest icicle directly at the approaching sphere, hoping to shatter or deflect the attack.

Both attacks collided in a spectacular display of elemental opposition. Ice met water in an explosion of steam and crystal fragments, but the water sphere's momentum and mass proved superior. Though diminished, it continued its trajectory toward the Winter Beast with deadly intent.

Recognizing the danger, the Winter Beast immediately began retreating, its massive body moving as quickly as possible through the shallow water. But the water sphere followed relentlessly, guided by the Tidal Flamingo's continued manipulation.

In desperation, the Winter Beast began forming multiple ice walls behind itself, each barrier designed to slow the sphere's momentum and reduce its destructive potential. The first wall shattered on impact. The second cracked and crumbled. The third held for a moment before exploding into fragments.

Despite the Winter Beast's valiant defensive efforts, the weakened but still dangerous water sphere finally caught up with its target, slamming into the Winter Beast with enough force to send it tumbling across the domain's endless sea.

The Tidal Flamingo's twin heads turned back toward Arthur with satisfaction, confident that one opponent had been neutralized and the other remained helplessly trapped.

That confidence was about to be shattered.
