Chapter 53: Small Village
“Huh!?”
Tashigi’s attention snapped to a strange noise. Drawing her away from the mast and approached the ship’s edge, intrigued by the peculiar noise.
Her eyes widened as she spotted Saitama effortlessly leaping and hopping on the cloud, defying gravity without a hint of falling. Rationality gave way to disbelief, leaving her utterly perplexed.
“No way… this can’t be real!” she exclaimed, instinctively removing her glasses and rubbing her eyes, attempting to make sense of the surreal sight.
After a moment of disbelief, she gingerly put them back on, desperately seeking confirmation of the astonishing sight before her.
Once she had confirmed the reality of what lay before her, she couldn’t restrain her awe and released a resounding gasp.
“A cloud that can carry people…” her voice filled with wonder.
“In fact, I remember hearing about these clouds in ancient legends,” she reflected, proceeding cautiously as she descended from the ship and alighted on the gentle, billowing cloud.
She gently tapped it with her hand, her voice trembling as she went on:
“There’s a legendary tale that speaks of a place hidden within the Grand Line, an island floating in the sky.
Its inhabitants are said to possess dainty wings on their backs, resembling the archetypal angels, which sets them apart…
But, seriously, who would buy into that?
Could it be nothing more than fanciful tales spun within the pages of the book ‘Liar Noland‘
I never imagined… No one ever entertained the notion that Skypiea could truly exist.
It’s genuinely mind-blowing, Saitama-san…”
“Oh, Skypiea.”
Saitama reached out and plucked a small cluster of clouds, holding them up before his eyes. “Just a regular cloud… This world holds such wonders.”
“This is unbelievable! It’s absolutely surreal to find ourselves in Skypiea!” Tashigi sighed, her expression troubled as she glanced back at the warship behind her. “But how did we end up here? And how can these clouds bear the weight of an entire ship… and, most importantly, how do we find our way back to the ground?”
“Don’t worry,” Saitama reassured, tossing the cloud aside and rubbing his hands together, his eyes scanning the surroundings.
“Look, there’s a forest over there. Maybe someone in the area has an idea… And if not, I can jump off the clouds with the warship on my back. No worries.”
Tashigi chuckled wryly.
10.000 meters!
The understanding of power varies greatly among individuals, as it is subjective in nature.
While Saitama may regard it casually, others may hold different viewpoints. It’s important to consider practical limitations, and jumping from such heights or attempting to carry a warship is neither realistic nor possible.
“Everyone, ensure the warship is secure!”
Tashigi’s voice rang out, commanding the attention of the marines aboard. She quickened her pace to catch up with Saitama, her determination clear. “Saitama-san, wait! I’m coming with you!”
As they walked, Saitama mused, “I wonder what kind of creatures we’ll find on this Sky Island. Will we encounter humans as powerful and fierce as monsters… or maybe even dinosaur-like beings…”
Tashigi pondered for a moment, her mind swirling with thoughts.“They should be just regular humans…” she concluded.
Glancing around, she couldn’t help but appreciate the beauty of the place. “Honestly, this place is pretty nice,” she admitted, her voice filled with a genuine sense of awe.
Saitama surveyed the area, noting the abundant sunlight and pleasant environment. “Sunny place, good vibes. Maybe I’ll live here.” he mused.
“In that case, I’ll live with you, Saitama-san.”
Tashigi’s eyes curved into a smile as she blushed slightly. “Though the oxygen might be thin, I’ll adapt quickly. I can’t help but worry about taking care of you, Saitama-san. I just can’t shake that concern.”
Saitama’s face showed a hint of hesitation. “Oh thanks, I actually prefer living alone…”
Deep in thought, Tashigi extended her hand and snapped her fingers with resolve. “So far, I’ve saved a whopping five million Berry, which can be considered my share of the rent!”

After a momentary silence,
Saitama shot Tashigi a serious look and casually remarked, “Ok, don’t forget to bring your own towel and toothbrush, okay?”
Tashigi’s face brightened with a smile, revealing her understanding. Standing up straight, she quickly saluted and replied, “Absolutely, Saitama-san!”

As they made their way through the forest, they engaged in a conversation, or rather, a one-way conversation. Tashigi was brimming with excitement about living with Saitama and bombarded him with numerous questions. However, he mostly ignored her or simply responded with a nonchalant “Ok,” his mind preoccupied with the mistake he had made.
Undeterred, the two continued their journey, gradually venturing deeper into the heart of the forest.
It remained untamed, ancient, vast, and densely overgrown, with faint echoes of thunderous roars reaching their ears.
With a swift motion, Tashigi unsheathed her blade, “Shigure,” from her waist, her senses heightened as she meticulously surveyed their surroundings. In contrast, Saitama remained unfazed, his eyes empty as he continued to advance.
Given the presence of wild beasts, it seemed highly improbable for any humans to inhabit this untamed territory. Nevertheless, driven by their determination, they couldn’t resist the urge to venture further.
As they pressed on, the path grew increasingly treacherous and shrouded in mystery.
The thunderous roars reverberated closer, growing in intensity with each passing moment.
Suddenly…
A powerful gust of wind swept through the surroundings, stirring up a whirlwind of sand and debris. Emerging from the dense forest, a colossal sabertooth tiger with two tails burst out, its imposing presence displaying fearsome aggression.
“Look out!”
Alarmed by the situation, Tashigi swiftly positioned herself in front of Saitama, gripping her sword tightly. Urgently, she exclaimed, “Saitama-san, step back! Let me handle thi…”
However, before she could finish her words, Saitama had already maneuvered himself to stand in front of her.
With a single punch, he mercilessly crushed the gigantic tiger, sending it flying through the air and causing it to collapse lifeless on the ground.
The shattered remains of the tiger spilled its blood onto the earth.
He beckoned to her with a wave of his hand and said, “Alright, let’s keep moving.”
“Whoa…”
It took Tashigi a moment to shake off her shock, then she let out a sigh filled with amazement.
“That’s… unbelievable.”
No matter how many times she witnessed it, she couldn’t help but be deeply impressed. Lost in her thoughts, she marveled, “The sheer power he possesses, the unwavering confidence that radiates from his expressionless face and vacant eyes… Truly remarkable!
Saitama-san, you are truly unstoppable!”
With a renewed sense of admiration, they continued their journey, both filled with anticipation and readiness to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
Along their journey, Saitama had encountered and dealt with several peculiar monsters. Finally, after reaching the outskirts of the forest, they discovered a small village nestled in the distance.
Tashigi couldn’t help but express her thoughts, “Finally! A place with people! It’s been quite a journey. And the prevalence of monsters on this island… It’s truly remarkable.”
With a sense of relief, they entered the village, taking in the sight of the sparsely populated streets.
To her surprise, everyone in the village had wings, as if they were born to fly.
Just as the legends had described.
But…
“Look, Tashigi! They all have wings!” exclaimed Saitama, his eyes widening as he pointed out the unique feature of the village’s inhabitants. Taking notice of their fragile appearance, he added, “And it seems there are no young or elderly among them.” Then, his tone turned thoughtful as he mused, “Is this haven? Are we already dead?… Definitely dead!”
Tashigi tried to suppress a smile, understanding Saitama’s musings.
“Don’t worry, Saitama-san, we’re definitely alive,” she reassured him, her eyes scanning the winged villagers. “But it is quite fascinating to see everyone with wings. It adds a certain mystique to this place.”
Saitama approached a woman they encountered on the street and asked, “Excuse us, can you tell us where we are? We flew up here from below. Any way for us to get back?”
The woman paused, her eyes widening with a mix of surprise and sadness. “From below!…”
Her voice trailed off as she processed their situation. With a somber tone, she responded, “You must be from the Blue sea! Well, I hate to break it to you, but you’ve stumbled upon a place consumed by despair.”
“Despair?” Tashigi’s voice wavered slightly as she exchanged a concerned look with Saitama.
Intrigued by what she heard, Tashigi moved closer, gently clasping the woman’s hand.
She leaned in and asked, “Could you please share with us what you’re going through?
We’ve noticed the hardships faced by the villagers here…
Despite this place not falling under the protection of the World Government, as Marines, our commitment to justice extends beyond boundaries.
If there are any troublemakers causing chaos, we’re more than willing to lend a hand.”
