Chapter 48: One Million to One
In the vast expanse of the desert, Saitama’s figure weaved through the dunes, his strides filled with absurdity. It seemed as if he had discovered a secret technique that effortlessly sliced through the sandy landscape, leaving a swirling sandstorm behind him. his steps echoed like a low-flying jet, stirring up the sand and igniting a whirlwind of chaos. Saitama’s lightning-speed barreled through every foolish monster that crossed his path.
Unaware of their coming destruction, these clumsy beasts were only concerned with their hunting activities, unaware that soon they would become the ones being hunted instead of the hunters! Finally, he arrived at the outskirts of Alabana, the capital city of Alabasta. As he looked around, the area outside the capital appeared dusty and filled with the echoes of battle cries and roars. However, as Saitama watched the ongoing fight, a look of intense concentration and growing frustration crossed his face. He suddenly realized that, once again, he had arrived at the center of the conflict too late, thanks to fate’s tricky games.
“Ah! I’m late again! This is really bad.” He stood on the cliff’s edge, observing the intense battle in the Capital Square. Facing monsters or pirates, all he had to do was defeat them. Simple. But when it came to an internal conflicts, heroes couldn’t intervene.
Both factions strongly held onto their righteous causes, driven by an unwavering determination that led them to sacrifice everything, even their own lives, to achieve their objectives. Saitama found himself overwhelmed by the complicated nature of war, leaving him deeply confused and uncertain about what to do next.
While struggling with the seriousness of the situation, Robin suddenly emerged from the shadows behind him, seemingly appearing out of nowhere.
“Saitama-san,” she called out, approaching him with confidence.
“I apologize for leaving without saying anything last night… You must have already dealt with Crocodile, right?”
Saitama nodded and said, “Yes!”
He looked towards the capital, shaking his head in disbelief. “but it doesn’t seem like he’s really been injured.”
“Huh… That’s fascinating! You’re really strong, Saitama-san,” she commented.
Standing beside him, she gazed out at the city and continued, “If that’s the case, he must have used his Devil Fruit power to bring ‘Crocodile’ back to life! It’s truly a chilling ability…”
Saitama raised an eyebrow, a spark of curiosity shining in his eyes. “Back to life?” he asked, seeking more information.
Robin looked towards the horizon, her gaze distant. “It’s the Resurrection Devil Fruit, a powerful ability,” she explained.
Saitama glanced at her with his usual expression and asked, “What do you mean? Hold on a sec, are you saying Crocodile is actually a zombie?”
Robin’s mind replayed the events she had witnessed the previous night, and she spoke slowly.
“Last night, I secretly infiltrated the royal palace with the intention of speaking with the king.
However, I was taken aback when I found him in the company of a mysterious person.
At first, everything seemed normal, but suddenly, the stranger thrust his cane into the king’s heart, causing his death.
He then used his devil fruit ability to revive the king, but with a noticeable change in his personality. It was as if he had full control over him like a puppet.
Furthermore, Crocodile himself appeared, behaving strangely alongside them…”
Saitama’s face twisted slightly, “That’s disgusting…”
“I have no idea what that guy’s up to, but it’s definitely part of some messed-up plan,”
Robin remarked, turning around and walking towards the distant spot where Banchi, the old turtle, was waiting patiently.
“To be honest, I don’t really care about the fate of this kingdom. But I owe you one, Saitama-san. I’ve done what I could…” She paused, then looked directly at Saitama. “Just… please be careful of that freak wearing the white mask.”
Saitama nodded and waved in a friendly manner. “Ah, thanks! Take care!”
Although it was a simple farewell, it unexpectedly warmed Robin’s heart.
Robin gazed at Saitama, her eyes slowly becoming captivated.
“You know, I…
I have keep on…
Saitama, you’re a real hero!
I hope that one day the world will be free from all kinds of unfairness, just like you!
And when that day comes…
I won’t be known as the Devil’s Child anymore. My untold past will finally be revealed to everyone.”
With those words, Robin turned and headed into the unknown, carrying a mixture of determination and hope for a better future. ————————————————————– A massive war unfolded, drawing countless lives into its grasp.
The King’s treacherous assault last night set off rebellions against his rule.
Lifeless bodies covered the ground within the royal palace. In the distance, armies clashed relentlessly, their cries filling the air, a constant reminder of the brutal slaughter.
Without hesitation, Saitama approached the edge of the battlefield, witnessing the chaotic clash of armies stretching into the distance. “Since there’s someone messing around, it’s time to end this war!” he declared. Swiftly, he crouched down and thrust his hands deep into the solid ground.
And then… With an explosive surge of raw power, he unleashed his attack!
-Death!-
With a single powerful punch, he smashed through the ground.
The earth shook violently, as if an earthquake had struck, launching the fighters into the air for a short distance before they crashed back down, unable to control their involuntary flight.
“Finally, some quiet!” he exclaimed.
Everyone was completely shocked.
A heavy silence engulfed the area, causing an unsettling calm. Nobody knew what had truly occurred, resulting in different rumors being spread. Some speculated that the gods, angered by the situation, were behind this inexplicable turn of events.
Without a moment’s hesitation, they began to pray, forsaking any intentions of continuing the war.
“OK… That will make them busy” Saitama remarked as he wiped his hands clean.
He couldn’t disregard the risk of people getting hurt, yet it appeared to be the most practical solution available to him at that moment.
With a brief pause in the ongoing war, his focus now shifted towards uncovering the person responsible for this situation—the mysterious man wearing a white mask.
Suddenly, a deafening explosion echoed through the air.
-Boom-
A blinding white light shot up into the sky from the center of the city.
An immense explosion swept across the battlefield, leaving behind a raging fire that devoured everything in its path—the royal army, the rebels, and even Saitama.
All wiped out!
The area became desolate, shrouded in a dense cloud of dust.
Amidst the ruined royal city, an enigmatic figure emerged from an underground hideout.
“Phew! What a spectacular explosion!” muttered the man with the white mask, his gaze sending shivers as he glanced over the motionless bodies scattered around.
He swiftly brushed off his attire. “Perfect. My plan is ready… Thanks guys! Soon, we shall unveil the so-called treasure of justice…”
Just as his words faded away, a sudden gust of wind erupted.
In an instant, his face contorted, and the mask shattered into pieces.
-Phew!-
His body was tossed through the air like a kite, spinning before crashing to the ground.
“You Bastard! Who… Who dares to touch me!?”
Looking around, a figure dressed in a tight yellow outfit stood before him, his fist raised as he calmly asked, “Did you do that?”
“It… It’s you!?” The masked man’s eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at Saitama.
Coughing up blood, he clenched his teeth. “Incredible… the Legendary Treasure of Justice… A single blow from you almost killed me!… The elders were right… You’re dangerous… and must be eliminated swiftly!”
“What?” Saitama looked at him with indifference. “What are you talking about?”
“Hehehe… Hahaha…”
The masked man burst into maniacal laughter, his eyes gleaming with madness as his face twisted into a horrifying expression. “Ah, this couldn’t be more perfect! Facing someone like you… Let’s see how you fare against an entire army!”
Saitama furrowed his brow. “Army?”
He then jumped back, raising his hand and forcefully slamming it into the ground, shouting in anger. “Prepare to witness the true might power of my Devil Fruit ! The battle will be one million to one!… You’re as good as dead!”
