Chapter 313: Chapter 313: The Middleman, Doflamingo
The Kingdom of Karfan in the North Blue was a World Government affiliate, but the advent of the Great Pirate Era had brought them numerous pirate attacks, causing significant losses to the kingdom.
Later, two nearby non-affiliated nations invaded, plunging the kingdom into chaos and war.
Karfan had previously sought aid from the World Government and the Marines. The Marines responded twice but always arrived after the pirates had fled. When the two non-affiliated nations invaded, the Marines refused to intervene, claiming it wasn't a pirate-related matter. The World Government sent a few officials to assess the situation but concluded that the enemy was too strong and additional reinforcements were needed—only for them to never return.
Left with no other options, the King of Karfan was forced to spend a fortune in the underground world to purchase weapons from the Infinite Pirates to arm the kingdom's military, barely resisting the invasion from the two non-affiliated nations.
"Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh! Young Master, those fools in Karfan Kingdom have agreed to purchase our weapons again! This is their second order!"
"We buy weapons from the Infinite Pirates and sell them to the Karfan Kingdom. After deducting transport and other expenses, we're making twice the profit! It's insanely lucrative!"
Trebol excitedly leaned toward Doflamingo as he spoke.
"Trebol, don't get so close to me!"
"In the past, selling our own weapons wasn't very profitable because the Infinite Pirates' weapons were far superior.
"Now, we don't even need to manufacture weapons ourselves. By acting as middlemen, we avoid production losses and simply count the money coming in."
"Prepare more weapons. The two non-affiliated nations attacking Karfan will soon notice that Karfan is using weapons from the Infinite Pirates. Leak this information to them discreetly, and they'll come to us to buy weapons too."
"However, don't sell them too many weapons. We can't let them gain enough firepower to conquer Karfan Kingdom outright. I want the war between these three nations to drag on endlessly."
Doflamingo pushed Trebol's face away in disdain.
While the Infinite Pirates had secretly established numerous trade hubs across the Four Seas, it was impossible for them to cover every corner of the oceans due to the sheer manpower required. They only set up trade points in prosperous kingdoms or major islands to sell their goods.
In more remote regions, many kingdoms couldn't obtain Infinite Pirates' weapons. Even if they wanted to buy them, they had to bear the risks of transporting the goods back themselves.
This gave Doflamingo the perfect opportunity to act as a middleman, seizing the chance to profit immensely.
In a short period, Doflamingo had amassed a fortune by leveraging his position as a middleman. He didn't just deal in weapons—anything from the Infinite Pirates was fair game. He transported these goods to remote islands or kingdoms and sold them at several times, or even ten times, their original price.
However, since weapons were the most in-demand and profitable, he focused heavily on the arms trade. He even went as far as secretly instigating wars in peaceful nations to increase demand for his goods.
"Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh! Young Master, you're brilliant! This way, we can keep profiting endlessly from their need for weapons!"
"Although we've made a lot of money acting as middlemen, we're still dependent on the Infinite Pirates' supply of goods. Right now, it's manageable, but as our business grows, the weapons we're currently buying won't be enough to meet demand," Lao G said with some concern.
"Fufufufufu! Lao G, you're absolutely right. That's why I've already expressed my desire to purchase more weapons and deepen our collaboration with the Infinite Pirates. They're sending someone today to discuss the partnership, which is why I gathered all of you here."
"Of course the Young Master has already thought of everything! You're truly extraordinary!" Lao G said in admiration.
"Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh! Did you hear that?" Trebol suddenly said.
"Woooooo!!!"
A deafening roar came from the distant sea, growing louder as it approached.
A black dot appeared on the horizon, speeding across the ocean at an incredible pace.
As it drew closer, they realized it was a white mechanized motorcycle racing across the sea. Wherever the motorcycle passed, the water beneath it froze into an icy path.
The motorcycle sped across the ice, moving at an astonishing speed.
On it sat a woman with flowing red hair, wearing a fitted, ice-white battle suit.
In the blink of an eye, the motorcycle reached the shore, skidding to a stop with an elegant drift.
In a flash, the woman dismounted and stood a short distance from Doflamingo and his crew.
"It's her… the eldest daughter of the world's greatest swordsman, André Esdeath!"
Doflamingo's expression turned serious as he recognized the woman.
He had assumed the Infinite Pirates would send someone ordinary for the negotiations. He hadn't expected them to send their princess.
Esdeath was unlike others like Gai Nie. After ascending to the top of the Battle Pyramid and becoming a Grandmaster Swordsman, her identity had been publicly revealed with her consent.
Li Yuan had announced Esdeath's identity to the world, and it shocked everyone. No one had known Li Yuan had such an accomplished daughter.
Following the announcement, Esdeath became a global sensation. As the daughter of Li Yuan, her future potential seemed limitless, drawing immense attention.
"It really is her. Why would someone of her status come here? Could this be some kind of trial for her?"
Doflamingo's subordinates were equally stunned.
"Doflamingo, I hear you wish to deepen your collaboration with the Infinite Pirates for more weaponry. However, any force seeking large-scale supplies from us must first pass our test."
"Only those who pass our test will gain access to additional supplies. Otherwise, your allocation will remain limited."
Esdeath's voice was cold, her icy demeanor making her seem like an unapproachable mountain of frost.
"Fufufufufu! Of course, the Donquixote Family wants to collaborate further with the Infinite Pirates. What is your test?"
Doflamingo's interest was piqued. If he failed to secure more supplies, his middleman business would stagnate. A partnership with the Infinite Pirates would also serve as a stepping stone for expanding into other ventures, propelling his family to new heights.
"My father tests new members with his sword. Those who can withstand a strike from him, equivalent to the power of a top-tier warrior, are promoted to standard members. Those who survive a full-strength strike are promoted to core members.
"I will test you with my sword. If you can withstand a single strike from me, you pass. If not, you die."
If this weren't her first mission, Esdeath wouldn't have bothered explaining so much. She'd have simply drawn her sword and attacked.
Without further ado, her supreme-grade sword, Shura, left its sheath. A bone-chilling killing intent emanated from it, freezing everything within a hundred-meter radius into crystalline ice.
Esdeath's icy white Conqueror's Haki erupted, pressing down on Doflamingo and his crew like a towering mountain.
"Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh! How is this possible? She has the same Conqueror's Haki as the Young Master—a king's aura among millions!"
Trebol and the others felt as if an immense weight was crushing them. The aura emanating from Esdeath was even more terrifying than their Young Master's.
"Fufufufufu! Everyone, stand back!"
Doflamingo's Conqueror's Haki flared, clashing with Esdeath's. Crimson lightning sparked as he shielded his subordinates from her overwhelming presence.
Esdeath didn't waste any more words. With her sword coated in an icy crimson aura, she unleashed her technique.
"Ice Execution: Frozen Blood Sea!"
The temperature around them plummeted, freezing everything within a kilometer. Doflamingo, despite his strongest defenses, found himself overwhelmed and defeated in a single strike.
After ensuring his survival, Esdeath declared, "You've passed. From now on, you may purchase up to 20 billion in weaponry annually. Whether you can acquire more depends on your future performance."
With that, Esdeath left, riding her motorcycle back across the frozen sea.
Doflamingo lay battered, his pride shattered. From that moment, he vowed to focus more
on strengthening himself, determined to one day erase the humiliation Esdeath had inflicted on him.
