Chapter 215: Chapter 215: The Enthusiastic Giants
"One Sword Style: Mountain Shatterer Slash!"
"One Sword Style: Wicked Light Slash!"
"One Sword Style: Crescent Moon Slash!"
"Eight Impact Fist: Martial Head!"
One after another, Chinjao, Ashura Boy, and the others launched their attacks against the many giants challenging them. Even though they were only at the port, the place erupted into a chaotic brawl.
"Wow, that's incredible! I want to join the fight too!"
Seeing Barrett and the others battling the giants, Esdeath and the other little troublemakers wanted to rush down and join the action.
"You're all still too young to fight grown giants," Shakky said, stopping them by conjuring a large mirror to block their path. "But if you want to fight, I'll ask your father to take you to a giant village later to find some giant children to spar with."
"Mom, do giants have kids too? How big are they? Are they as big as us?" Akame asked, her eyes wide with excitement.
"I've never seen a giant child either," Shakky replied, patting Akame's head. "But don't worry, your father will take you to see them soon."
"Hahaha! Dorry, Brogy, come and drink with me. I brought some strong liquor from the East Blue—it's the strongest drink I've ever had!"
Li Yuan approached Dorry and Brogy with Razel and the medical team to treat their injuries, bringing along several barrels of fine liquor.
"Kekekeke, Li Yuan, my friend, thank you for the drink!"
Dorry laughed heartily and took a swig from a massive wine jug.
Cough, cough!
But as soon as he swallowed, Dorry choked, his face flushing as he tried to clear his throat.
"Gabababa! Dorry, you're weak! How can you choke on a sip of liquor? That's embarrassing!"
Brogy took a drink too, but he too began coughing after just one sip.
"Kekekeke! Li Yuan, what is this drink? It's the strongest liquor I've ever tasted and by far the best! Not even our giants' 200-year-old brews are this strong!"
Dorry, recovering, took another small sip, looking enchanted. For the giants, who loved their liquor as potent as possible, this was the ultimate brew.
"Haha! It's from an East Blue distillery called Dukang. Their brews only hit the market a few months ago, but they've taken the Four Seas by storm. They're now expanding to the Grand Line and the New World."
Li Yuan explained as he took a sip himself.
In truth, the Dukang Distillery was a business established by the Infinite Pirates using advanced distillation techniques. But, with profitable trades in arms and medicines, the Infinite Pirates decided against selling the liquor under their own name, to avoid drawing excessive attention from the World Government.
"Gabababa! That's great news! But since our giants don't know Dukang personally, would you be able to help us buy some?" Brogy asked. "Of course, we'll pay you with berries or trade items."
"Of course. In fact, one of the reasons I came to Elbaf was to establish a trade relationship. Elbaf has many resources the Infinite Pirates need," Li Yuan replied, not hiding his intentions.
"Kekeke, that's no problem at all! You're our friend, and Elbaf has always been open to trade," Dorry said with a smile.
"Gabababa! Li Yuan, your crew members are strong! Once I recover, I want to challenge them myself!" Brogy said, watching Barrett and Chinjao battle the giants with admiration.
"Haha! That's what I brought them here for—to face the giants of Elbaf and grow stronger through combat," Li Yuan replied.
"Kekekeke, then stay with us here in Elbaf for a while!" Dorry said excitedly.
"Haha! You're strong! My name is Kroll Salvato. I may have lost this time, but I'll win next time!"
"I'll win too next time!"
Half an hour later, the giants who had eagerly wanted to challenge Li Yuan were all beaten down by Barrett and the others.
"Haha, bring it on! I'll be waiting for your next challenge, though the outcome won't change," Barrett said with a confident grin.
"Kekekeke! Li Yuan, come, I'll take you to see the Giant King!"
Dorry, satisfied after drinking, staggered to his feet.
"Alright, Karu, have the crew unload everything from the ships," Li Yuan instructed.
"Yes, Captain!"
Soon, the pirates started unloading goods from each of the ships, drawing admiring looks from Dorry, Brogy, and the other giants. The enormous iron weapons, giant-sized pistols, abundant barrels of liquor, and various unique items left the giants wide-eyed with excitement.
"Hahaha! We've brought these especially for trading with Elbaf," Li Yuan said, smiling at the giants' eager expressions.
"Gabababa! What are you all standing around for? Help them move the goods and bring them to the market," Brogy said, laughing and urging the other giants into action. The giants eagerly began helping with the unloading.
Indeed, giants made excellent laborers. With over a hundred giants and the pirate crew working together, the cargo was unloaded quickly—though only part of it. Li Yuan had brought a considerable amount of goods, filling over thirty ships, so it would take some time to finish.
Leaving some crew behind to guard the goods, Li Yuan followed Brogy and Dorry toward the royal city. Along the way, many giants approached to challenge him, only to be blocked by Barrett and the others.
This created an amusing scene: as Li Yuan passed, one giant after another would approach, get knocked down by Barrett and the others, then join the group helping to carry goods. It happened over and over, and some giants were even too injured to get back up.
Thanks to this, Li Yuan's reputation quickly spread throughout Elbaf, drawing even more giants eager to challenge him. Some were famous heroes, and even the Giant King himself came forward to fight, but all fell before Li Yuan.
Over the following days, Li Yuan bested every giant who challenged him. Only those with great prestige and power warranted his attention, while Barrett and the others intercepted the rest. The reputation of Barrett and his fellow crew members grew among the giants, and the Infinite Pirates became known far and wide in Elbaf.
Li Yuan was certain that the giants who had come to challenge him weren't all of Elbaf's strongest warriors. Some, likely not present in Elbaf or simply uninterested in fighting, had refrained. Elbaf's strength clearly went beyond the fighters he had seen.
Elbaf had existed longer than the World Government, over a thousand years. While 800 years might be a long time for humans, to giants, who live around 300 years, it's only three generations.
The giants of Elbaf might be straightforward, but not all were simple-minded. Among a people who live so long, some would naturally emerge as strategists, providing wisdom and guidance behind the scenes.
Otherwise, Elbaf would not have been able to withstand the World Government's pressures over eight centuries. With humanity's penchant for scheming, Elbaf would've been undermined long ago if the giants were truly that naive. Yet Elbaf had survived, still the mightiest nation in the world, which made Li Yuan suspect that it was more complex than it seemed.
With the overwhelming show of strength by Li Yuan and his crew, the trade agreement between Elbaf and the Infinite Pirates was easily established. All thirty ships worth of goods were traded, securing precious items unique to the giants, including branches from the Adam Tree, rare ores, metals, medicinal herbs, and more.
Elbaf possessed unique resources highly valued by the Infinite Pirates, which could also be traded with other factions for valuable returns. Additionally, under the instruction of the Elders, Li Yuan mastered the most authentic version of "Hakoku," greatly increasing its power.
One day, Dorry and Brogy brought Li Yuan to a village of warriors where giant children lived. Although they were children, they were still taller than Li Yuan.
"Aah! It's Lord Li Yuan!"
"Lord Li Yuan, my name is Haulding! I'm here to challenge you. Please accept my challenge!"
As Li Yuan and his group arrived, a crowd of giant children ran over excitedly.
"Giants are truly something, so eager to fight even as kids," Li Yuan thought with a smile, seeing the enthusiasm of the young giants.
"Hey, you want to challenge my dad? Then you'll have to go through me first!"
Seeing the giant children, Esdeath and
her siblings' eyes lit up. Finally, they'd found the giant children they'd been waiting to spar with!
