The Next Day

The training grounds of Marineford were packed with soldiers. Excitement buzzed through the air as they gathered to witness the long-awaited battle.

Fleet Admiral Sengoku and Vice Admiral Garp were present, their towering figures drawing even more attention to the occasion.

The atmosphere was charged with anticipation, but as time ticked by, there was still no sign of Roja.

Sengoku glanced at his watch. Only five minutes remained until the competition's official start. If Roja didn't appear by then, it would count as an automatic forfeit.

Standing at the center of the training ground was Akainu, his arms crossed over his chest and his expression dripping with arrogance.

The murmurs of the crowd grew louder.

"Do you think Roja's too scared to show up?"

"No way! Roja's strong—he wouldn't back down from a fight!"

"Strong? Sure, but his Phantom-Phantom Fruit is an auxiliary power at best. It's not like it boosts his combat ability much."

"Then maybe he really is afraid of Akainu after all."

The whispers reached Akainu's ears, fueling his disdain. He smirked, a sneer spreading across his face. To him, Roja was nothing more than a pretender—a clown trying to leapfrog into a position he didn't deserve.

But before Akainu could revel too much in his superiority, the crowd erupted into cheers.

"Look! Roja's here!"

"That's Roja for you—he wouldn't run away!"

"He's the real deal!"

Roja strode through the gathered marines with Kalifa at his side, his calm and composed demeanor making an immediate impression. He ignored Akainu's glare entirely, instead directing his attention to Sengoku.

This was Roja's first formal meeting with the Fleet Admiral. He smiled and gave Sengoku a respectful nod, a gesture that caught the older man slightly off guard.

For a fleeting moment, Sengoku thought to himself that Roja had an uncanny ability to project confidence and draw others in emotionally.

Akainu's scowl deepened as he turned to Sengoku. "Fleet Admiral, let's begin the match." His voice was laced with irritation.

The growing fame of Roja was something Akainu could not stomach. To him, the idea that the Navy's principles of justice could be represented by someone so new was an insult. His clenched fists betrayed his fury, but he kept it in check, directing his anger toward the upcoming fight.

Sengoku turned to Roja. "Are you ready?"

Roja smiled, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly as the sunlight caught his face. "Yes, I'm ready."

Kalifa, watching from the sidelines, felt her heart skip a beat. The confidence in Roja's expression was magnetic.

"Then let the match begin!" Sengoku's command rang out, and the training grounds erupted in cheers.

The Battle Begins

Akainu wasted no time. Taking a step forward, molten magma began rolling from his right arm.

"Hellhound!" he roared, his fist transforming into a burning mass of lava as it surged toward Roja with blistering speed.

Roja responded instantly. Armament Haki coated his fist as he countered with a punch of his own.

"Bang!"

A loud explosion echoed across the grounds.

To the audience's shock, Roja's figure was swallowed by Akainu's lava. Moments later, it was revealed to be a phantom—one of the illusory projections created by Roja's Phantom-Phantom Fruit.

Kalifa exhaled a sigh of relief, realizing Roja wasn't harmed.

Akainu, however, wasn't impressed. "Weak," he muttered, his voice dripping with contempt. "Relying on tricks like this doesn't make you strong."

Without warning, Akainu spun on his heel and smashed another of Roja's phantoms with his lava-coated fist.

"Bang!"

The phantom dissipated as easily as the first.

"Three left," Akainu growled.

True to his word, three more phantoms appeared, launching simultaneous attacks on him.

Akainu's response was brutal and immediate. "Great Eruption!"

His arm transformed into a massive, molten fist, simulating the explosive force of a volcanic eruption. The sheer power of his attack shattered the phantoms, leaving nothing behind but scorched ground.

The five phantoms were gone, and Roja's true form was revealed.

The spectators were stunned. The battle had unfolded so quickly that most could barely follow what had happened.

"Akainu's too strong!"

"As expected of one of the Navy's Admirals—only Garp, Sengoku, or the other Admirals could stand a chance against him."

"Roja's not ready to be a general. He's good, but this is another level!"

Akainu sneered at Roja. "The weak have no place on the seas, let alone in enforcing justice. You're out of your league!"

Roja's smile didn't waver. He stood calmly, as if Akainu's words were of no consequence.

"Oh, is that what you think?" Roja asked, his tone lighthearted.

His unwavering confidence infuriated Akainu. Lava began bubbling around his arm as he prepared another attack.

"Enough talk! Die—Hellhound Fang!"

Akainu launched a devastating punch, his magma forming the shape of a snarling dog's head. The intense heat warped the air, making it dry and suffocating as the attack barreled toward Roja.

The sheer force of the blow caused the surrounding soldiers to instinctively step back, fearing they might get caught in the crossfire.

"Why isn't Roja moving?!"

"Did he freeze up?!"

"Is this the end for him?!"
