Upon seeing this, Kalifa glared at Hina fiercely and quickly reminded, "Roja, Smoker's weapons are made of Seastone, so be sure not to let them touch you!"
However, Kalifa's warning came a bit too late.
Smoker had already swung his ten Seastone hands and struck Roya hard.
"Bang!"
Roja was sent flying by Smoker's attack, his figure quickly disappearing into the air.
When Smoker saw this, he realized he had been tricked.
With a sharp sense of combat awareness, Smoker quickly shifted, thrusting his ten Seastone hands behind him.
"Bang!"
Another illusion was pierced by Smoker's attack.
But before Smoker could relax, Tina's voice called out from the sidelines: "Smoker, aim for the front!"
"Armament Haki!"
Roja's phantom reappeared, falling from the sky, his fist coated in Armament Haki, and slammed into Smoker with tremendous force.
This completely negated Smoker's elemental intangibility.
Though Roja's mastery of Haki was only at an intermediate level, it was more than enough to deal with Smoker!
Before Smoker could recover from the blow, another illusion of Roja appeared behind him, again infused with Armament Haki, and delivered a crushing punch to his back.
Smoker stumbled, falling forward.
A third Roja phantom materialized before him, this time striking Smoker's abdomen with a knee wrapped in Armament Haki.
"Poof!!!"
Smoker coughed up blood, his body collapsing in pain.
Roja's flurry of attacks lasted barely a second.
The phantom shattered, revealing Roya standing before Smoker, looking down at him with calm eyes.
"You've lost," Roja said softly.
The training ground fell silent as everyone processed the scene.
It was far beyond what they had expected.
"Smoker is a Logia-type Devil Fruit user!!"
"He didn't even get a chance to use his powers... and he lost like that?"
"That's too strong!"
"Roja's phantoms are impossible to predict!"
The soldiers around them whispered in disbelief.
Tina, still in shock, could hardly believe her eyes.
"Smoker... actually lost like this! How is that possible?!"
Hina stared at Roja in disbelief, as if trying to engrave his image into her mind.
Kalifa, witnessing this, couldn't help but laugh triumphantly. "See? Roja's incredible!"
She raised an eyebrow at Hina, almost as if she were showing off.
Even Kalifa herself didn't fully understand why she felt so pleased.
The soldiers around them, having snapped out of their shock, erupted into deafening cheers.
"Roja! Roja! Roja!"
"Roja! Roja! Roja!"
"Roja! Roja! Roja!"
The roar of the crowd could be heard throughout Marineford.
In another training ground, Akainu had just defeated Vice Admiral Doberman. He turned his gaze towards Roya's training ground after hearing the cheers.
His face darkened, and he muttered coldly, "Hmph, this clown... He's just a captain. Let's see how he'll fare when he faces me."
Meanwhile, Roja extended a hand to Smoker, saying, "Are you alright?"
Smoker grinned, still catching his breath. "I'm fine... just too weak. Next time, I'll definitely win!"
"Let's do our best," Roja said with a smile, his gentle expression causing the soldiers around him to cheer even louder.
But for some reason, Kalifa felt a pang of sadness.
Why can he show that smile to others but not to me? she wondered, biting her lip as she pondered the question.
Three days passed in the blink of an eye.
During those days, Roja continued to use the power of his Illusion Fruit to outwit his opponents, leaving them unable to discern which one was his real body.
His opponents were always confused and quickly defeated, making Roja's victories seem effortless!
His strength, combined with his gentle smile, had made him extremely popular.
In fact, his popularity had even surpassed the three Admirals, who were considered the "Monsters" of the Navy.
In Sengoku's Office:
Garp sat beside Sengoku, happily munching on senbei.
Sengoku's forehead was becoming increasingly marked with "#".
"Garp, do you really love eating my senbei this much?" Sengoku asked, his voice tinged with exasperation.
"Yeah, after all, if I lose the bet, I won't be able to eat anymore! I'd better eat my fill now!" Garp answered with a grin.
"But why do I feel like, even if you lose, you'll still eat them?" Sengoku replied, raising an eyebrow.
"Hahaha, Sengoku, you really know me well. But tell me, are you really going to arrange a match between Akainu and Roja in the next round? You know, this could be a battle for the position of Admiral!" Garp said, intrigued.
Sengoku, though, was already deep in thought. "I know what you're thinking, but from what I've seen over the past few days, Roja's personality aligns best with our Dove Faction. Even if we can't bring him into the faction, it's better than Akainu rising to the top."
The Navy wasn't a monolithic entity. The internal factional struggles were fierce and complex.
Sengoku had two plans in mind:
"If Roja were to lose to Akainu, he would attempt to bring Roja into the Dove Faction, seeing his immense potential."
"If Roja were to defeat Akainu, he would ally with him, fostering a partnership for peace on the seas."
Garp understood Sengoku's reasoning, but he was curiousβwhy was Sengoku so confident that Roya could defeat Akainu?
Later, the competition list was announced, and upon seeing it, everyone was shocked.
"Hey, hey, did you hear? Akainu and Roja are facing each other!"
"Is that for real? Akainu is going up against Roja?"
"It's true, I just saw the list!"
"I remember Akainu told Roja that if they faced off, he'd make Roja regret it."
"That sounds like something Akainu would say. After all, he's as tough as they come!"
Compared to Roja's gentle demeanor, Akainu's iron-fisted methods were a stark contrast.
Standing before the competition list, Akainu clenched his fists, exuding a fierce aura. "Roja, don't disappoint me tomorrow. The Navy doesn't need someone who interferes with its ranks!"
"Guess we'll find out tomorrow, won't we?" Roja's voice came from behind Akainu, accompanied by a teasing smile.
Akainu snorted and turned away, leaving with a determined expression.
With the stage set for the showdown, everyone eagerly awaited the next day.
Would Roja's charm and deceptive abilities be enough to overcome the iron will of Akainu? Only time would tell.
