One Piece: Signing In as a Pirate Begins with Roger's Execution

Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Reinforcements!

The winds howled.

The water dragon surged!

Karl, wielding the powers of the Float-Float Fruit, not only unleashed Golden Lion's original abilities but even modified them slightly, adding his own flair!

Although the power hadn't increased, the style was unparalleled.

Power could wait—it was style that truly mattered for a lifetime.

The colossal dragon formed by the raging wind and seawater exuded an oppressive aura far surpassing that of the Golden Lion's lion-headed techniques.

On the surface, it appeared as though the Golden Lion was at a disadvantage. However, in truth, their Devil Fruit abilities were evenly matched. The duel couldn't be decided based on fruit powers alone!

In addition to their Devil Fruit powers, the two were also locked in a fierce swordsmanship battle.

Karl's swordsmanship was formidable, surpassing the Golden Lion, whose combat style predominantly relied on his legs.

Though the gap wasn't massive, Karl seized opportunities to leave shallow wounds on the Golden Lion's body repeatedly!

However, the Golden Lion's fighting style was bold and aggressive, his strikes carrying immense destructive force.

As a result, Karl also suffered injuries. His Marine uniform was tattered, revealing his muscular torso and the massive scar left by Gol D. Roger.

Fresh blade wounds crisscrossed his body, inflicted by the Golden Lion's slashes, though they did not hinder his ability to fight.

"Damn brat! You actually managed to steal my ability! You're courting death!"

The Golden Lion couldn't fathom how Karl had stolen his powers.

Yet seeing Karl's mastery over these abilities, and knowing he couldn't benefit from them himself, he resolved to eliminate the threat.

Their clash resumed, sword aura and blade energy slicing through the air.

The lion-headed and dragon-headed techniques collided again, triggering violent spatial tremors.

Even the island beneath them suddenly had a gaping hole torn through it!

"Golden Lion, is this all you've got? Your current strength is a shadow of your former glory!

If I'd faced you in your prime, I'd have turned tail without hesitation. But now? You're unworthy of your reputation!"

Karl mercilessly taunted the Golden Lion, attempting to disrupt his focus.

Although a veteran like the Golden Lion wouldn't lose his composure over mere words, Karl's display of power was too alarming. The thought of Karl replicating others' abilities sent shivers down the Golden Lion's spine.

"Karl, what kind of ability is this? How can you use my Devil Fruit power?!"

Ignoring the question, Karl casually created another wind dragon to counter the Golden Lion's storm, neutralizing his attack.

"Fine, I'll enlighten you," Karl said with a mocking grin. "I possess the Copy-Copy Fruit, capable of replicating a person's ability, but only once.

Originally, I planned to use this on Whitebeard, but since you showed up, I didn't bother holding back!"

Karl's nonchalant lie hit its mark, unnerving the Golden Lion even more.

The Golden Lion had initially come to recruit Karl, but now it felt like he'd delivered himself into the lion's den.

Seizing the Golden Lion's momentary hesitation, Karl unleashed a powerful slash from Kitetsu. Sword energy surged forward, amplified by razor-sharp wind blades, doubling its speed and lethality.

The Golden Lion responded swiftly, summoning an invisible cyclone in front of him to deflect the attack.

Unfazed, Karl took control of the island below, lifting it into the air with his newfound powers and hurling it at the Golden Lion.

Although manipulating such a massive landmass was taxing, Karl's fledgling grasp of the Float-Float Fruit sufficed for short-range movements.

The island hurtled toward the Golden Lion, who, though enraged, managed to summon another island under his control to counter the attack.

The two islands collided with a deafening crash, chunks of earth plummeting into the ocean below.

The spectacle in the sky was awe-inspiring, a testament to the power of these legendary figures.

"Don't underestimate me, brat!" the Golden Lion roared, his face twisted in fury.

As the stalemate continued, both combatants sensed a new presence rapidly approaching, glowing with a yellowish hue.

Karl's face lit up with excitement, while the Golden Lion sneered dismissively.

"Another Marine brat? Perfect, I'll take you all out!"

Suddenly, a beam of light pierced through the Golden Lion's torso, leaving a finger-sized hole in his lower back. The scent of seared flesh filled the air.

"What?! Impossible!"

Karl couldn't help but laugh. "That's karma for you, old man!"

He gave a thumbs-up toward the distant figure before aiming a decisive strike at the Golden Lion's head.

"You damn brat! Don't underestimate me!!!" the Golden Lion bellowed, summoning all his strength for one final clash.
