Chapter 266: 266: Ascension & The War Ends.
The entire Marineford was shrouded in an eerie silence until the sound of a heartbeat echoed from within the cocoon.
Thump... thump...
The sound reverberated like a war drum. The ice beneath their feet cracked, waves surged violently across the sea, and the sky turned completely dark.
Everyone standing on the battlefield couldn't help but swallow hard. As if guided by instinct, all eyes turned toward the cocoon.
It floated silently above the water, unmoved by the chaotic elements around it.
Then, suddenly, a crack split through the black clouds above. A single beam of golden light pierced through the sky and fell upon the cocoon. At the same time, hairline fractures began to appear across its surface.
Crack...
With a final snap, the cocoon shattered.
And from within emerged Chiga.
Gasps filled the air as the onlookers took in his new form. Chiga's hair and skin had turned snow white. A horn had sprouted from the left side of his forehead, mirroring the one on the right. He wore an ethereal white robe, adorned with twelve tomoe patterns—six on his back and one on each cuff.
Behind him floated twelve pitch-black Truth-Seeking Orbs, and in his hand, he gripped a black staff. His body hovered in the air effortlessly.
This wasn't just a transformation—Chiga now exuded the aura of a god. Even a single glance invoked reverence.
There was no doubt.
Chiga had completed his evolution.
Without relying on the power of the Ten-Tails, he had become a complete Ōtsutsuki, driven purely by his ocular abilities.
He descended slowly, his feet brushing the surface of the sea, and walked toward Marineford as the world stood still.
Some pirates, who moments ago brimmed with hatred for him, found themselves unable to summon a single ounce of malice. Their instinct to fight had been completely suppressed—his presence alone had transcended them.
Gion approached, cautiously stepping beside him. Her voice trembled with disbelief.
"Are you... are you really Chiga?"
He paused, turned toward her, and gave the familiar, warm smile she knew all too well.
"Of course. The real deal."
With that, he took her hand, and in an instant, the two reappeared atop the high platform.
Chiga's transformation had amplified the abilities of the twelve Devil Fruits contained in his Rinnegan. He no longer needed to pre-activate the ROOM ability of the Op-Op Fruit—he could now manipulate space freely. No Haki could resist his teleportation.
This was true infinite Amenotejikara.
Chiga gently tapped the platform with his staff. Transparent ripples pulsed outwards across the battlefield. Miraculously, the ravaged land of Marineford began to restore itself, as if time itself was being reversed.
This was his new ocular power—'Gyakuji-no-Mikoto'. Upon awakening the Twelve Tomoe Rinnegan, Chiga had gained the ability to rewind time within a localized area, up to one hour. He could even select specific people or objects to be affected.
The results were instantaneous. Navy soldiers who had died moments ago opened their eyes in disbelief, whole and unscathed. Meanwhile, the pirates remained untouched by the power.
The resurrected marines, dazed and bewildered, were soon reminded by their comrades of who had saved them. At once, they dropped to their knees, bowing deeply toward Chiga in reverence.
With a wave of his hand, Chiga used an unseen force to gently lift them from their knees.
His voice rang out calmly over the battlefield.
"This war is over."
Some among the remnants of the Whitebeard and Big Mom Pirates weren't ready to accept defeat. They shouted out defiantly.
"What a joke! We'll never bow to the Navy!"
The moment those words rang out, their bodies exploded in a burst of blood mist.
A heavy silence fell over the battlefield. The thick scent of blood hung in the air, and no pirate dared to utter another word.
Chiga's Rinnegan dimmed slightly as the purple glow faded. With a single thought, the surviving members of the Red-Haired and Big Mom Pirates were suspended mid-air. They flailed and screamed, but no resistance mattered.
Under their horrified gazes, Chiga raised one hand.
A massive black cube formed around them, swallowing them whole. It hovered silently above the battlefield—a prison of darkness.
This was a more advanced version of his Black Coffin technique. No one trapped within would ever escape unless Chiga willed it.
He hadn't killed them. But they were imprisoned indefinitely—release was entirely at his discretion.
Shanks, still bleeding and collapsed on the ice, watched helplessly as his crew disappeared from sight. The prison rose higher and higher until it vanished beyond the clouds.
Kaido, standing nearby, swallowed hard.
Before he could speak, Yamato stormed over and shouted,
"Kaido! You'd better surrender while you can! Do you want Master to trap you in that black cube too?!"
Her tone was defiant, but her eyes betrayed concern. Despite their rocky relationship, she still cared deeply for her father.
Kaido scowled and smacked her on the head.
"You brat! Is that any way to speak to your old man?!"
Furious, Yamato covered her head and snapped back.
"You hit me?! My Master's not going to let you off for that!"
Kaido sneered, ready to fire back—but then stopped himself.
That "Master" she referred to… was Chiga.
The retort died on his tongue, and he turned away in silence, his face clouded.
Seeing him retreat, Yamato grew smug. She circled him with her hands behind her back, teasing,
"What's wrong? No comeback? I never thought I'd see the mighty Kaido go speechless! What an eye-opener!"
Nearby, King quickly stepped forward and tugged at Yamato's arm.
"Yamato-san, please, stop... Boss is actually getting angry now."
Yamato peeked at Kaido's face—now darkening to purple—and huffed, finally quieting down.
High above on the platform, Chiga had heard the entire exchange. A faint look of exasperation crossed his face. He sent a mental message to Yamato.
"That's enough. The Beasts Pirates didn't cause trouble. Let Kaido go—but tell him to control his crew."
Yamato's face lit up. She turned to Kaido, kicked him lightly in the shin, and puffed up her chest.
"My Master says you can leave—but you'd better keep your men in check!"
The next second, Yamato went flying like a cannonball. Kaido had punched her squarely in the forehead, smoke rising from his knuckles.
With a grunt, he turned to his subordinates and growled,
"Move out!"
