Chapter 260: 260: [Bonus] When Legends Collide
The Four Emperors stood in formation, each unwilling to submit to the others. Opposite them, the Navy Admirals had clearly formed ranks—with Chiga standing at the front. The other three Admirals positioned themselves subtly behind him, acknowledging his command.
Chiga's eyes swept across the Emperors before settling on Kaido.
"Kaido, how is Wano Country faring now?"
The question caught Kaido off guard. The other Emperors glanced at him curiously—there was an implication of familiarity in Chiga's tone that made them uneasy.
Shanks especially couldn't ignore it. He recalled what Chiga had said back at Windmill Village—that he had spared Kaido's life. Now, with this subtle exchange, the seeds of doubt grew stronger in his heart.
Was Kaido… working with Chiga?
Kaido snorted impatiently.
"I handed things over to King. Whether he ruins Wano or rebuilds it is none of my concern."
King stepped forward with a respectful nod.
"Admiral Purple Kirin, I've already lifted Wano's isolation and disbanded the labor camps."
Chiga gave a satisfied nod.
"Unexpectedly responsible. I'm impressed."
Shanks's expression darkened. To him, King already seemed like a subordinate to Chiga.
Big Mom broke the silence with an irritated bark.
"Enough chatter! Are we here for a tea party or a war!?"
Chiga's Rinnegan narrowed in disdain. Without a word, he activated Almighty Pull.
Big Mom's gloating grin vanished as her body was yanked violently forward by the gravitational force. She was entirely unprepared for it.
Luckily, Whitebeard and Shanks moved quickly. They shot forward, with Whitebeard showing no mercy—he slammed Big Mom's massive head into the ice with one swift motion.
Kaido, watching from behind, scratched his neck and coughed twice as if to say: not my problem.
Big Mom sputtered as she pulled her head out of the ice, spitting shards and shouting angrily,
"Newgate! Are you trying to kill me?!"
Whitebeard didn't even look at her.
"Would you rather have been dragged in and finished off by him?"
Shanks stepped in to keep things from escalating.
"Focus. Dealing with Purple Kirin comes first."
Chiga couldn't help but chuckle.
"You're all quite confident, aren't you?"
In the blink of an eye, a full Susanoo Armor encased his body. Chiga vanished from view, reappearing right in front of Shanks.
Shanks barely had time to react before Chiga drove a powerful kick into his chest.
Boom!
Shanks flew backward like a cannonball, crashing into one of the pirate ships and obliterating its hull on impact.
Chiga's left eye pulsed with lightning. Black thunderclouds swirled overhead. Then, from the heavens, a purple beast-shaped bolt of lightning descended.
"Five Hundred Million Volts—Purple Kirin!"
BOOM!
The attack struck the remains of the ship like divine punishment. The ice beneath melted instantly, seawater pouring into the crater. The shockwave sent ripples across the battlefield.
Whitebeard's face turned grim—he could no longer sense Shanks's presence.
Seeing the destruction, Big Mom abandoned her arrogance. She quickly climbed to her feet.
But as soon as she stood, Akainu appeared, launching a Great Eruption directly at her.
She dodged—but the hem of her skirt ignited from the searing magma, nearly causing a wardrobe malfunction. After stomping out the flames, she snarled with fury and channeled Zeus and Prometheus into her blade.
"Clashing Sword!"
She swung Napoleon, releasing a devastating slash.
Akainu, unfazed, split his magma body into two streams, narrowly dodging the attack.
With the fight erupting, even Kaido had no choice but to act.
Gripping his spiked kanabō, he let out a thunderous roar,
"To battle! Follow me!"
With that, Kaido charged forward, followed closely by Jin and the Beasts Pirates.
But the Marines had long since been prepared. The soldiers from Marine Headquarters leapt down from their platform and stormed the battlefield.
On both sides, only the strongest remained. Titans clashed.
The ice plains of Marineford became a thunderous battleground. Devil Fruit powers and advanced martial arts were on full display, overwhelming even the live broadcast viewers.
Near the front lines, the Shichibukai were doing their part—with Empress Hancock the most fearsome among them. The number of petrified enemies beneath her feet had piled into small mountains.
Yamato swung her kanabō (devoid of spikes) in wide arcs, sending opponents flying one by one. But she deliberately avoided clashing with the Beasts Pirates, targeting Big Mom Pirates exclusively.
Eventually, someone had enough.
From the Big Mom Pirates, a tall figure emerged. His arm turned into malleable mochi and flung itself at Yamato.
Caught mid-rampage, Yamato couldn't react in time. The doughy limb coiled around her waist, flinging her across the battlefield.
She crashed hard against the ice, groaning and clutching her head.
"Ow! Damn it, that hurt, you bastard!"
Swish!
A tall figure appeared before her—Gion. Her sword, Konpira, dripped blood from its tip.
Yamato blinked through her tears, recognizing the woman.
"Gion…"
Gion knelt down and gently ruffled Yamato's head.
"Yamato, this is war. You have to stay sharp."
Yamato pouted, nodding reluctantly. She stood again and turned to face the one who attacked her.
Gion followed her gaze and spotted the tall man in the scarf.
"Is that him?"
"Gion, who is he?" Yamato asked.
"Charlotte Katakuri. Strongest of Big Mom's Sweet Commanders."
"So he's another one of that ugly woman's kids?"
"Correct. Her second son."
Yamato clenched her jaw.
"Then I'm going to teach him a lesson!"
"Wait—Yamato!"
Gion tried to stop her, but it was too late. Yamato had already rushed in, her body transforming into a semi-beast form as she charged.
Katakuri let out a soft grunt and met her with his trident, Mogura.
While Yamato's strength was impressive among the Shichibukai, Katakuri held the clear upper hand. His mastery of Observation Haki and combat precision left no openings.
Yamato swung hard—but Katakuri transformed his body into mochi and avoided the strike, countering with a solid punch to her gut.
Boom!
Yamato flew backward, crashing once again at Gion's feet.
From a distance, Big Mom observed the clash, grinning smugly.
"Mamama… Kaido, looks like my son's still got the edge!"
