One Piece: My Name is Jack, I'm Very Resistant to Beating

Chapter 21: Chapter 21: Immortal Body

Yamato had drunk a little too much. Stumbling with every step, she insisted on tagging along to see Kaido thrash Jack.

Black Maria trailed behind them at a leisurely pace. Having shared drinks with Yamato a few times before, she knew exactly what Yamato was like when drunk. With a sly smile, Black Maria shoved Yamato into Jack's care.

Jack had no choice but to carry her on his back, grumbling under his breath.

But Yamato's drunken antics were a real pain. Her sharp nails dug into Jack's arms as she clung to him, making him wince in pain.

Kaido walked ahead, occasionally glancing back at Jack, his face expressionless.

Jack's nerves were on edge. That look—that poker face—was terrifying.

"Kaido, boss, don't get the wrong idea!" Jack thought desperately. "Yes, I might like Yamato, but that's, like, ten years in the future! Right now, she's got nothing, I've got nothing—there's nothing to misunderstand!"

"Ugh…"

"Bleh…"

"Hahaha! Nice one, Yamato!" Black Maria's mocking laughter rang out as a foul stench wafted through the air.

Jack stiffened.

Yamato had puked.

Jack instinctively transformed into his mammoth form, raising his trunk as if to swat at her. But Kaido's silent, piercing stare stopped him in his tracks. Swallowing his frustration, Jack gently wiped Yamato's mouth with his trunk before handing her off to Kaido.

Then, he rolled around in the snow to clean his back, transforming back into his human form with a stoic expression as if nothing had happened.

"Idiot Jack!" Yamato, now feeling much better after puking, leaped out of Kaido's arms, grabbed a handful of snow, and hurled it at Jack.

"Count me in!" Black Maria laughed as she joined the snowball fight.

Kaido crossed his arms, standing to the side with a rare, almost fatherly smile as he watched the chaos unfold.

Smack!

"Hey! Who threw a rock?!"

"Who fights like that?!"

Jack, overwhelmed by the two women's combined assault, retaliated with gusto, forgetting all sense of fairness. As he pelted them mercilessly with snow, a sudden sharp pain struck his head.

He turned, rubbing the swelling lump, to see Black Maria glaring at him. But Kaido was casually placing another stone onto the ground, his expression unreadable.

"Maria!" Jack yelled indignantly, but before he could say more, Black Maria shifted into her spider form, pelting him with rapid-fire snowballs—some of which had rocks mixed in.

Bruised and battered, Jack finally called a halt to the madness, waving a white flag of surrender.

When they finally reached the harbor, Jack sprinted aboard the ship, his energy seemingly restored. Turning to Kaido, he roared, "Bring the ship closer!"

Without waiting for a response, Jack lunged at Kaido, launching an all-out assault.

"Don't underestimate me!" Jack shouted. "I'll make you regret it!"

"Take this—Iron Fist!"

Jack's fists, barely coated in Armament Haki, pounded at Kaido like a storm.

Kaido, arms still crossed, stood unmoved, nodding slightly in approval as he watched.

Jack froze, staring at Kaido's unscathed form, his fists trembling from the impact.

"Boss… are you made of steel? Does it not hurt? I hit your leg, for crying out loud! Should I try… somewhere more sensitive next time?"

Kaido smirked. "Your Armament Haki is coming along. It's not bad for your age, but you've got a long way to go."

"Now, let's see how well you handle your Devil Fruit powers."

Jack snarled, shifting into his mammoth form. He charged forward, his tusks gleaming as they clashed against Kaido.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

No matter how hard Jack tried, his attacks barely scratched Kaido. After exhausting himself in a frenzy of strikes, he reverted to his human form, slumping with a sigh.

"Alright, I give up. Boss, you're too strong—I can't beat you."

Kaido frowned. "That's it? Jack, where's your hybrid form? I've never seen you use it. Can't you transform?"

Jack's face darkened. "Boss… do I have to?"

"Yes! Unless you want me to introduce you to my Punch!"

Defeated, Jack begrudgingly shifted into his hybrid form. His skin grew rougher, his head transformed, and his signature trunk and tusks appeared.

Black Maria and Yamato studied him with thinly veiled disgust before stepping aside.

"So that's why you don't use it. No wonder," Black Maria quipped.

Jack's attacks in hybrid form were just as ineffective. Kaido caught his trunk mid-swing and slammed him into the ground with ease.

"Jack!" Kaido's voice boomed as he loomed over him. "In this world, strength is all that matters! If your form makes you stronger, then use it—who cares if it's ugly?"

"And if anyone mocks you, crush them. Make them shut up with your power. Understood?"

Jack nodded reluctantly.

Kaido's expression softened. "You've improved. Keep at it, and you'll be a worthy officer of the Beast Pirates before long. Don't let me down, Jack."

Congratulations! You've received: Immortal Body!

An intense wave of pain surged through Jack. Sweat poured from his body as he struggled to process what was happening.

Kaido suddenly stopped, turning back with a rare expression of shock as he stared at Jack.
