Chapter 6: Live Broadcast Starts
"Colonel, if this continues, all the recruits will die." The lieutenant colonel approached Morgan, trembling. The strength shown by Ren had revealed the likely outcome—over 600 recruits defeated. This result, paired with Morgan's earlier statement about feeding the injured to the fish, was sure to lead to tragedy.
"Let it continue!" Morgan's expression remained unchanged. Ren's strength had surpassed his expectations, but since the battle had started, he wouldn't end it halfway.
Although Morgan insisted on continuing, the new recruits who had witnessed Ren’s terrifying abilities began retreating quickly. Those who hadn't yet taken action felt lucky but no longer dared to join the fray.
Morgan watched the soldiers running and those hesitating to advance, frowning slightly before calmly ordering, "Let all the new recruits attack together. Anyone who hesitates will be killed!"
"Colonel!" The lieutenant colonel's face turned pale, and he unconsciously shouted in horror. This was essentially a death sentence for the recruits, and he couldn't bring himself to issue such an order.
"Do you have any objections?" Morgan turned to the lieutenant colonel, his tone calm but his eyes icy. His authority was absolute, and no one could defy him.
"Colonel! This is sending all the recruits to their deaths!" The lieutenant colonel, sweating profusely, still hesitated to comply.
"If they don't die, then you will," Morgan replied, slightly raising his iron axe, causing the lieutenant colonel's eyes to widen with fear.
As Morgan and the lieutenant colonel remained locked in a tense standoff, Ren was growing increasingly excited by the fight. Since the battle had started, he wasn't about to let it end just because soldiers were fleeing.
"Did you think I'm just a handyman you can bully? Haha, today, I'll teach you all a lesson and make you fear handymen!"
As the recruits tried to escape, Ren chased them, and the battle descended into complete chaos. It was no longer a fight between Ren and hundreds of recruits but an all-out brawl between a handyman and more than 2,000 soldiers.
This chaos provided the lieutenant colonel with a brief reprieve. Morgan watched the scene closely, focused entirely on the unfolding battle.
"This handyman..."
"I punch! I kick! I push!" Ren exclaimed, reveling in the fight. To adapt his body, he wasn’t limiting himself to fists; he was using palms, feet, head, and even his body.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Some unfortunate soldiers were knocked back by his punches, others knocked out by palm strikes, and some were pushed to the ground, unable to get up. Soldiers were beaten in all sorts of positions, but Ren carefully controlled his strength so that, at worst, they would only be injured, not killed.
Time passed, and within half an hour, the training ground was filled with groans and wails. Not a single soldier could still stand. More than 2,000 had been brought down by Ren.
"The battle is over!" Ren clapped his hands, looking at the soldiers writhing on the ground with a sense of satisfaction.
"Fighting is really fun! It's a shame I haven't started the live broadcast yet. Such an impressive performance would definitely attract a lot of rewards."
It was unimaginable that Ren had taken down over 2,000 men in half an hour. Aside from Morgan, all the officers were looking at Ren with undisguised horror.
Morgan alone remained unfazed, saying, "From now on, you're a Private Third Class in the 153rd Marine Branch."
"Lieutenant Colonel, take him to get his recruit uniform and assign him to collect tribute in town." Without sparing Ren or the fallen soldiers another glance, Morgan turned and headed back to the base.
"Yes, Colonel!" The lieutenant colonel responded eagerly. Since Morgan hadn't given the order to kill the soldiers knocked down by Ren, he gladly refrained from raising the issue.
"Mission accomplished?" Ren muttered to himself, confirming that he was now a naval recruit, then summoned the holographic screen with his mind.
The screen appeared before him, still showing "Become the Supreme Leader of the World Government" at the top. However, a prompt had changed, now reading, "Mission completed. Would you like to start the live broadcast?"
"Do you want to start the live broadcast now?"
Excited yet suddenly nervous, Ren hesitated. Although he’d livestreamed as a hobby before traveling to this world, this was on a different scale. It wasn’t just chatting with a hundred viewers about school and anime—it was a professional broadcast.
"If I start now and millions of viewers flood in, commenting non-stop, what should I say? Introduce myself first? Describe the environment here? What if people from my old world tune in? If I claim to have traveled through time, will anyone believe me? And if I get criticized, should I respond?"
Ren stared at the live-stream interface, hesitating. When he couldn’t stream, he’d wanted to start immediately. Now that he could, nerves held him back.
"And if it turns out my audience isn’t from my original world..." The thought made him even more anxious. Although this world fascinated him, it wasn't home. Broadcasting to an unknown audience felt like showing off without knowing who would watch.
"Ren, follow me," the lieutenant colonel instructed him with a conflicted expression. Ren’s strength had revealed something unusual, leaving him unsure how to proceed.
"Oh, right!" Ren agreed, following the lieutenant colonel.
"Forget it. I’ll start the live broadcast later. No rush."
…
Half an hour later, Ren, now in a navy recruit uniform, stood in the middle of Baker Town’s bustling street. As he took in the many stalls, he slapped his thigh and confirmed to the live-stream system, "Start the live broadcast."
Immediately, lines of text began scrolling across the holographic screen in front of him.
"Confirming live broadcast initiation. Creating live broadcast room. Please name the room..."
The broadcast room’s name was simple: "One Piece’s Strongest Live Broadcast."
"Live broadcast room named successfully. Please name the anchor..."
Without hesitation, Ren provided his name, "Ren."
"Anchor named successfully. Live broadcast room created. Establishing network connection to the other world... Connection successful."
"Live broadcast starts!"
The phrase "Live Broadcast Start" flashed briefly before disappearing. As the screen in front of Ren lit up, he felt a flood of sensations, allowing him to understand the live-stream system intuitively.
"360-degree, blind-spot-free visuals, true-to-life lighting and quality, complete synchronization of movement and sound..." Despite his mental preparation, Ren was still shocked. The screen was indistinguishable from reality.
