One Piece: I'm Mihawk's Son

Chapter 164: Snow on Sand II

The tension was so palpable that it could be felt across the entire Kingdom. On one side, the citizens saw Crocodile, the warlord they feared. On the other side, an individual not many of them recognized. Those who did recognize him felt apprehension for what was to come.

For those who didn't recognize him, they knew there couldn't be many people who could make Crocodile shiver. Nevertheless, the warlord had a reputation to uphold.

The members of Baroque Works got on guard while Robin and Vivi also got ready for a scramble. Before Crocodile opened his mouth to speak, though, Veyron had a few words to say.

"If I am obliged to use force... don't ever think you're going to be free again, Croco."

There was a second of doubt and apprehension, but eventually, he made his choice. Lifting his hand imbued in Armament Haki, a small tornado formed on his palm before it morphed into what resembled a sphere.

WHOOOOOOHHH!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!!!!

Crocodile began the war with a blast, using one of his strongest attacks from the get-go. He released that sphere in Veyron's direction, producing a shockwave blast that travelled across the desert like a tornado, erasing everything in its path, snow and clouds alike.

The destruction prompted the citizens to retreat as Robin took Vivi and jumped away from the impact, heading towards the incoming members of Baroque Works who quickly got into action.

Veyron groaned at the pain coming from his right arm imbued in Armament Haki and smoking, scalding hot like magma.

'He's gotten a lot stronger.'

It wasn't an attack he couldn't evade, but he wished to test how much stronger Crocodile was. On the other side, the warlord looked in disbelief at how his attack had been completely blocked.

Explosions began ringing in the vicinity with rushes of darkness, snow, and shots confirming the start of Baroque Works' last struggle.

"I hope this isn't everything you've got."

"I ain't even started-!"

He prepared for a second rampage, but a lightning spark cracked in the skies and landed in Veyron's hand, taking the shape of a well-known sword, a lightning copy of Youbi. He swung that sword casually, and devastation ensued.

The space distorted around the area, and an invisible strike travelled across space, bending everything in its wake. It wasn't Crocodile's first time watching that attack; he knew evading was the only way. With a swift gust, he got out of the way; the kinetic attack went past him, straight towards the city. But before any further destruction could ensue, the wave scattered before Veyron swung his sword once again.

!!!

'In succession?!'

Crocodile groaned; it was his understanding that Veyron needed time to put together enough kinetic energy to release that attack. But his belief was completely shaken in the next few moments.

BOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!

BOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!

BOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!

...

Watching the destruction ensue in the battle between the opposite leaders, the members of Baroque Works didn't know what to say. In the fights between Robin and Crocodile, they always saw the two of them going all out. This time, though, it looked like Dracule Veyron wasn't even trying and was causing mass destruction with each swing, all while carefully avoiding the city, displaying utmost control.

"If there is any chance for us to win, we have to stay in Alubarna!" yelled Daz Bonez, only for a hazy shadow to technically teleport next to him.

"That's exactly why I'll blast you all away from the city."

!!!

BAAANGGG!!!

He managed to block just in time, but it was all for nothing; that kick felt like a mountain crashing against his body, blasting him into the open desert, creating clouds of sand and snow.

With the same momentum, Robin headed towards her next target, the awaiting Zala. The sexy woman had a blue afro and eagerly awaited Robin's strike while using her Devil Fruit to create spikes all over her fists.

"Come to me, Miss All Sunday!"

Robin created a clone of the darkness of herself, which helped her propel hastily towards both Zala and Bon Clay.

WHOOOSH!

The Okama was ready to use his sacred martial arts, but just then something happened; he felt one of his arms get pulled out of his stance like a string was connected to it and somebody was pulling, like a puppet.

"What?!"

He looked at the direction of where he was being pulled, and there the princess of Alabasta looked like she was struggling to pull something invisible, like an invisible rope.

"Nice Vivi!"

That opening was all Robin needed to imbue her leg with Haki and deliver a fierce roundhouse kick at Bentham.

BOOOOMMMM!!!!

"Ugh!"

With that, the second member got blasted away, but Robin was left open to Zala's offensive. The blue-haired beauty struck forward with her spiked arm, but she also found a constraint; her body stopped, and her momentum got cancelled.

When she looked down to see what was going on, what she found was the snow all over her legs, gripping her with a tight clutch.

BAAANGGG!!!

Robin landed after sending Zala away, her gaze fixed just briefly on the green-haired snow beauty who stood casually on top of one of the city gates with her dress fluttering and snow wings, just nodding at her discreetly.

'She has plenty of potential, in many ways~'

She shook her head many times to focus back on the battle; 'I may have gone overboard for the last few weeks... all I can think of is that...'

"Stop wasting time and take the princess hostage!"

The flustered Vivi looked at both Gem and Galdino rush towards her, the weakest link. She tried to use her recently acquired powers.

'Ito Ito no Mi... I still don't know how to control it. Better get something more efficient.

She took a weapon she received from Veyron for self-protection; it was at least a meter long and pitch-black in color with just a clear neon blue light streaking across the frame. He had called it a 'Baryon Splurt' and instructed her to never fire it unless it was strictly necessary.

'He must be afraid that I don't know how to handle a gun. Hmph, I'll show him... I have used guns before. Let's see... he told me to remove the lock... then when I'm ready fire-!'

BOOOOOMMMMMMM!!

The little bullet that she was expecting was never ejected from the gun; instead, what was ejected was a ridiculous blaze of energy that phased between Galdino and Gem, leaving both of their foreheads sweating as the snow melted and the sand morphed into glass, causing destruction between them and behind them, clashing against one of the city walls and leaving a gaping hole.

Even Veyron and Crocodile stopped to see what was going on.

Vivi, who was pushed to the ground by the force of the weapon, looked in terror at the destruction she just caused with a single shot.

'T-This is not a gun...'
