One Piece: I Awakened King Ghidorah At the Start

Chapter 028: They're… Family?

BOOM!!

The massive body of Sanjuan Wolf crashed down, shattering the ice beneath with a thunderous impact.

Shards of ice blasted outward like bullets.

All of Marineford trembled as if struck by a magnitude-7 earthquake.

As the tremors subsided, the lifeless Sanjuan Wolf—now collapsed in the crater—rapidly shrank until he returned to a still-giant but much smaller form, around six meters tall.

Sticking to his no-waste philosophy, Ghidorah gave a cold command to Kevin.

"Eat him."

Eh?! Σ(⊙▽⊙"a!!

A horrifyingly cruel and gruesome scene unfolded, sending chills through the watching crowd. Some gagged. Others turned away, nauseated.

No one expected it—That monster was eating people.

Ghidorah cast a frigid glance down at Blackbeard and the others, who looked like mere ants from his towering height.

"Teach!"

"Zehahahaha…"

Blackbeard glanced around at his remaining crew. The casualties were mostly the low-level inmates. Among his core crew, only Sanjuan Wolf had died.

Suddenly, he began to laugh wildly.

"Ghidorah, I admit you're strong… but…"

"In the face of my second Devil Fruit ability, even you are nothing to fear!"

"Retreat! Fall back from the battlefield!"

At his command, the remaining crew members hesitated for just a moment, then turned to withdraw.

"Hmph."

"Trying to run?"

"A bit too confident, don't you think?"

Ghidorah snorted coldly. With a sudden motion, his massive wings spread wide and he threw his heads back in a thunderous roar.

The storm clouds above Marineford surged and twisted as if answering his call. Thunder roared, lightning cracked.

Before Blackbeard's crew could retreat, bolts of raw lightning came crashing down.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!!

Lightning rained like a monsoon, connecting heaven and earth, scorching everything within a 500-meter radius.

The wild lightning storm attacked without discrimination.

"What the hell?!"

"Hiiisshhh…"

The assault was apocalyptic. Even far-off spectators were terrified out of their minds.

What is this monster?!

Isn't this a bit too brutal?!

More and more onlookers began to wonder—What the hell did Teach do to provoke a creature like this?

Atop the city walls, the Three Admirals stood stunned, watching the carnage unfold.

The injured Kizaru had already started considering early retirement.

Aokiji stood in silence, brows furrowed, concern flickering in his eyes.

Akainu was fuming—his eyes ablaze and fists clenched, as if ready to charge out and destroy the monster himself.

Fleet Admiral Sengoku, however, was expressionless, though deep worry shimmered in his eyes.

The stronger Ghidorah revealed himself to be, the heavier Sengoku's heart grew.

If Teach couldn't hold him off… then the next to suffer would be the Marines.

Elsewhere, Whitebeard—now reunited with Ace—watched the storm with a grim expression, recalling a cryptic message Roger once shared with him long ago.

His division commanders were shocked at the brutality… but as they remembered Ghidorah had saved Ace, some of the dread in their hearts began to fade.

"AAAHH!!"

"AAARGH!!"

The lightning storm tore through Blackbeard's men, and their agonizing screams echoed across the bay.

Ghidorah showed not the slightest bit of mercy.

Anyone willing to follow Teach was already no saint. In his eyes, they all deserved to die.

"Ghii…do…rah!!"

Watching his comrades die in horrific pain, Blackbeard finally snapped.

Those he had chosen to walk with were ambitious, full of potential. He had intended to raise them into powerful, independent commanders.

Now, they were gone.

His fury erupted like a volcano.

Ghidorah's golden pupils narrowed.

He'd noticed something strange—Teach, though caught in the middle of the "Lightning Storm," remained completely untouched.

Though the lightning strikes fell randomly and indiscriminately, none struck Teach. That was beyond luck.

Squinting his massive golden eyes, Ghidorah observed more closely.

The lightning wasn't missing Teach.

It was avoiding him.

Every bolt that approached would either vanish or veer off, as though the space around Teach was insulated—an absolute no-go zone for electricity.

Realization struck him. He stopped unleashing his electromagnetic storm.

"Looks like you've really gotten your hands on something interesting."

"Now I'm very curious… Who gave you that fruit?"

Ghidorah stared coldly at Teach, a flicker of suspicion already forming in his mind.

"Ghidorah… You've ruined everything I built…"

"I'll make you pay in blood!"

Teach didn't respond to the question. His voice was low, ice-cold.

Then with a roar, he charged forward—BOOM!

Mid-sprint, he raised his fist—and with a distinct pop, a transparent white bubble materialized around it.

"What…?"

"That's the Gura Gura no Mi…?"

"How's that possible?!"

The crowd watching from a distance instantly turned to look at Whitebeard.

Everyone knew it was impossible for two people to have the same Devil Fruit ability—unless…

Unless Whitebeard was dead.

But he was still very much alive!

Even Whitebeard himself blinked in disbelief. He instinctively activated his ability—and sure enough, a white shock bubble appeared on his fist as well.

Seeing this, the crowd fell into stunned silence, glancing between Whitebeard and Teach, their faces pale with disbelief.

"Explode!!"

BOOM! CRACKK!!

With Teach's furious cry, the bubble-wrapped fist slammed toward Ghidorah.

A thunderous crack echoed as if the very air had split apart.

The space in front of the three-headed beast began to warp violently.

From afar, Whitebeard narrowed his eyes. He could see it now—Teach's power wasn't quite the same.

Within the distorted space, red sparks crackled and surged.

Then—BOOM!

An explosive blast erupted outward, sending a massive shockwave that pushed Ghidorah's three heads backward in recoil.

"Black Vortex!"

Teach seized the moment.

He leapt, his right hand cloaked in thick black smoke, and slammed it against Ghidorah's chest.

The smoke surged like a tide, crawling rapidly across Ghidorah's body.

"Ghidorah, even if I can't steal your Devil Fruit ability…"

"I'll seal you away! You won't be able to use that beast form ever again—"

But before he could finish, a chill shot down his spine.

He looked up—and saw six enormous golden eyes, cold and emotionless, staring straight into him.

His face turned pale, beads of cold sweat instantly forming.

"Teach, you made a mistake," Ghidorah said, his voice cold as death.

"W-What?" Teach stammered.

"THIS… IS MY TRUE FORM!!"

With a furious roar, Ghidorah's enormous tail swung horizontally.

CRACK!!

It smashed straight into Teach, sending him flying like a ragdoll.

Before he could land, Ghidorah's wings spread wide, his twin legs kicking off the ice with a deafening BOOM—launching his massive form into the air.

A violent gale swept through the frozen bay, sending everything into disarray.

His colossal body skimmed low across the ice, shockwaves trailing behind him as he rocketed toward Teach—reaching him in an instant.

With a single talon, Ghidorah snatched Teach out of mid-air—

SLAM!!

And drove him into the ground.

"KOFF!!"

Blackbeard's eyes bulged as he coughed up a massive mouthful of blood.

He let out a blood-curdling scream:

"AAAGH—AAAHHHH!! IT HURTS—IT HURTS!!!"

Ghidorah looked down at the writhing pirate beneath his foot, golden eyes flickering with a hint of surprise.

Damn. His body really is monstrous. Must run in the bloodline.

"S-Spare me, ancestor!!"

Teach—no longer arrogant, no longer smug—sobbed as he begged for his life, barely holding back the agony.

(ω)!Nani?!

"Ancestor"?!

The entire battlefield fell into a stunned uproar.

Blackbeard… and that monster… are family?!

What the hell is going on?!
