One Piece: General Blue

Chapter 122: Chapter 122: Too Late for Rescue, Deeply Apologetic

At the edge of the Red Mangrove Area 66.

"Damn it, damn it! Pick up! Someone pick up the line! Why can't I get through with the transponder snail?"

Lieutenant General Lawrence, hastily pulling on a pair of pants and not even fully dressed, rushed between the trees using Moonwalk. Beads of cold sweat could be seen on his forehead.

Lawrence could feel a terrifying bloodlust, vast as a sea of blood, locked onto him from behind, making every hair on his body stand on end.

It was that brutal maniac slaughtering Marines everywhere, the bloodthirsty avenger Aristo! Lawrence had considered that this year's top pirate rookie might not be weak.

But he never expected the extent of Aristo's power.

He was frighteningly strong, almost monstrous!

Even though his own Navy Unit 66 stationed in Sabaody was known for its corruption, the soldiers and officers stationed here weren't weak. After all, this was an important transport hub.

Despite some members possibly securing their positions through connections to profit from the post, the officers' abilities weren't lacking.

They were only slightly below the standards of those officers trained at headquarters.

Yet, against Aristo, hundreds of elite Marines stood no chance. They were annihilated almost instantly.

Lawrence thought Aristo's high bounty was simply due to the number of Marines he had killed.

Bounties aren't always a measure of strength; they reflect a person's threat to the world.

But after facing Aristo directly, Lawrence understood that the bounty of 360 million was well deserved.

"You can't escape. I won't let anyone in that uniform slip through my fingers."

Dozens of meters behind him, Aristo stopped. Blood-red cuts appeared on his body.

Blood burst from the wounds like high-pressure jets, moving far faster than Lawrence's sprint.

"Crimson Thorns!"

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Seven or eight blood jets, each as thick as a finger, shot across dozens of meters towards Lawrence's back.

With intense penetrating power, each tree in the path of the blood jets was pierced clean through.

"Shave!"

Sensing imminent danger from behind, Lawrence gritted his teeth, accelerating his steps to move from his position.

Lawrence dodged most of the blood jets, but one still pierced through his shoulder blade, shooting out from in front of him.

"Argh!"

The intense pain from his shoulder caused Lawrence to stumble, his legs giving way and sending him sprawling face-first onto the grass.

"Is this the standard of a Navy Headquarters Vice Admiral?"

Lawrence's fall made Aristo's expression grow even colder.

In just a split second, Aristo closed the distance to about ten meters behind Lawrence.

"Corruption, lust, greed, cowardice, incompetence, weakness. This is the Navy, self-proclaimed champions of justice who constantly preach about maintaining world peace!"

Aristo laughed uncontrollably.

"Haha! How laughable! It's you beasts in wolves' clothing, doing things more vile than any pirate behind closed doors!"

His smile vanished instantly, and he swung his blood-red rapier down.

"Since the day I left the South Sea, I swore to kill every last one of you hypocrites in this world!"

"Blood Night Flash! Blood Slash!"

Swoosh!

A fifteen-meter-long blade of blood-red energy burst from the thin rapier, carving a deep, unseeable trench in the ground, slashing straight down at Lawrence as he tried to stand.

"Do you think I'm afraid of you? I'm a Vice Admiral of the Navy Headquarters!"

Lawrence's face contorted with fury. His body expanded, covered in yellow, curly fur. He grew taller, his mouth filled with sharp canine teeth, and his head transformed into a yellow dog's head.

"Zoan Dog-Dog Fruit, Teddy form!"

"Shave!"

Swoosh!

With his bent legs quickly kicking off the ground, Lawrence dodged Aristo's blood-red slash just in time.

"Tempest Kick!"

In midair, with a dog's head on a human body, Lawrence kicked out a seven-meter-long air slash aimed at Aristo's head.

Aristo's face remained cold and disdainful. He didn't dodge but swung his rapier again.

Shhh!

The Tempest Kick slash sliced into Aristo's left shoulder, cutting down to his abdomen before stopping.

Inside Aristo's body was nothing but dense, crimson blood.

As his body split open, blood gushed out like a broken dam, flooding the ground around him and creating a sea of red in seconds.

Meanwhile, a long, narrow wound appeared on Lawrence's chest in midair. He let out a cry of pain as Aristo's sword sent him flying.

Splash!

With a wave of blood swirling beneath him, Aristo resembled a king of blood. His legs transformed into blood jets, propelling him upwards as he pursued the airborne Lawrence.

He raised his rapier, a cold smile appearing on his lips.

"Moonlit Radiance! Blood Night!"

Blood sprayed from the hand gripping the rapier, and with his swift slash, the blood arced outward, covering Lawrence's entire form like a red glow. "Armament Haki! Iron Body—Steel!"

Lawrence crossed his arms to block, his body darkening with Armament Haki, while his muscles tensed, employing the Iron Body technique.

"Shhh!"

The blood glow rained down like a storm, carving crimson wounds into him.

Despite his Haki defenses, Lawrence could not fully block Aristo's sword strikes.

Even worse, with each small cut, an unnatural amount of blood poured out.

In just seconds, Lawrence's face grew pale.

"This isn't good! I'm exhausted from fighting all those slave girls earlier; I have to escape from this lunatic, or I'll definitely die here."

Panic started to creep into Lawrence's mind.

"Life Return!"

Taking a deep breath, his yellow-furred body expanded again, increasing his resilience enough to deflect the tiny blood blades.

"Four-Legged Shave!"

Flipping over, Lawrence used his four dog legs to launch himself upward, bolting off into the distance.

Aristo was about to pursue, but his steps halted abruptly. His pupils narrowed as he looked coldly ahead of Lawrence.

"Sss..."

Electricity crackled in midair, and a tall figure with long silver hair, over two meters in height, descended from the top of the Mangrove, floating a short distance ahead of Lawrence.

"Huh? Who are you?"

Lawrence's expression froze, then a hint of joy appeared on his face.

"Are you Rorschach from Headquarters, sent to capture Aristo? Excellent timing! He's right behind me, the blood-soaked guy."

Lawrence forced a pleased smile.

Yet internally, he was cursing Sengoku.

When Lawrence had notified headquarters to send reinforcements to capture Aristo and his brothers, Sengoku had responded that Rorschach , a Navy Major, happened to be vacationing in Sabaody and could assist.

Lawrence had thought it was a joke.

Sending a mere Major to capture a pirate with a bounty over 300 million berries?

But now, seeing the young man's face, he finally realized Sengoku wasn't joking.

At this age, becoming a Major in the Navy Headquarters was already impressive.

Probably a relative of some high-ranking officer who used connections to climb the ranks even faster than he did.

Despite his disdain, Lawrence kept this to himself.

In his current situation, even the weakest help could buy him time to escape.

"Be careful. His abilities are tricky. I'm seriously injured and need to rest for a while, so I'll leave Aristo to you."

Lawrence smiled apologetically. "Sorry, I can't help you fight him right now. Just give me a few minutes to regain my strength, and then we'll fight him together..."

"Swoosh!"

In the distant sky, a fierce windstorm swept through, carrying a heavy black war spear that shot through the air.

Rorschach raised his right hand, fingers spread.

"Clap!"

The heavy spear landed in his hand, blue-white electric currents coursing through his body, surging wildly.

"Ssszzzt!"

With his silver hair flowing in the glowing electric light, Rorschach's aura surged to the heavens, as fierce as a storm.

This immense aura felt like a natural disaster crashing over the sea, making Lawrence feel as if he faced a calamity of unimaginable proportions.

"This guy... How is he this strong? A man with such terrifying presence is merely a Major?"

One thought flashed through Lawrence's mind, his vision filling with the image of an electric-cloaked figure.

In the next instant, Lawrence felt a sharp pain in his chest.

He looked down to see a black war spear piercing through him.

In disbelief, he looked up at Rorschach. "You... you..."

"Vice Admiral Lawrence's strength fell short. He was cruelly killed by the pirate during combat, and I was too late to rescue him. I deeply regret it."

Rorschach said coldly. The Dragon Lance in his hands erupted with thick lightning, blasting through Lawrence's body, reducing him to a charred husk.

With a flick of the spear, the burnt remains crumbled, scattering to the ground below.

"So, the Navy kills its own. Ha-ha, I see the Navy's hypocrisy once again."

Down below, the sea of blood churned as Aristo stepped forward, standing at its center with his eyes fixed mockingly on Rorschach above.

"Even the worst pirates on the sea know that killing a comrade is the ultimate unforgivable sin. But I see such behavior among the so-called just Navy. Today has been quite enlightening."

A turbulent gust swirled around Rorschach, clearing the blood from his feet. Standing on the grass, he calmly faced the massive man.

"Yes, I am a Marine."

"But not all Marines are my comrades."

"Aristo, the Avenger. I can let you cleanse this corrupt, irredeemable Unit 66. But for killing thousands of innocent soldiers, I want to know..."

"Why did you do it?"
