Chapter 5: Chapter 5 - Flipping BIG MOM's Card, the First Copy of a Talent Card!
"Here, no one's coming to pick you up~" said a child from the Long-Armed Tribe, wearing yellow clothes, with two elbow joints. He grinned widely.
The Long-Armed Tribe child gave Linlin a thumbs-up, then made a few gestures at Roy.
"Everyone here is very unique~" the nun said with a kind smile, spreading her arms.
"Unique to the point of being abandoned by their parents~!" a chubby child in a purple fur cloak added, crossing his arms. After speaking, he tilted his head back and laughed sharply.
"You'll all get along soon~!" the nun said, winking with a smile.
"Mm, thanks, I'm hungry!" Linlin nodded with a smile, looking at the nun and the orphans around her.
Roy stood aside, eyeing the orphans at the Lamb's Home and the nun, Carmelo.
"Let's eat then~ Wait a moment, I'll have it ready soon." The nun smiled and turned to walk into the house, heading to the kitchen.
The Lamb's Home housed children from all walks of life: a prince exiled after a rebellion, a child who almost became a slave due to poverty, children from the Long-Armed Tribe, and even a fishman child.
If Nun Carmelo wasn't a human trafficker, she'd truly be a great person~
After all, the Lamb's Home took in children from all races.
Roy glanced at the children, then ran into the house. "Nun, let me help you cook!"
"Sure~ Can you give me a hand?" the nun asked with a smile.
"Okay~"
It's shameful to act cute, but it's worth noting that it always fools bad people~
In the forest, two figures approached.
A boy and a girl, both children from the Giant Tribe.
They were about the same size as Linlin.
The girl had bright, beautiful eyes, wore a yellow and purple headscarf, and had lovely light yellow hair tied into two braids.
Her name was Gaelz.
The boy wore a two-pointed helmet, a black cloak, and carried a sword on his back. The giant swordsman, Redin, walked over, giving the boy's head a hard rub.
"No, don't rub my head!" the boy grumbled, pushing Redin's large hand.
The boy's name was Helding, and Redin, the giant swordsman, was the one teaching him swordsmanship.
"Hello, are you the new one?" Gaelz asked as she sized up Linlin with a smile.
"And there's another new person!" a fishman child, who was sitting on the doorstep with white hair and a hood, looked inside and pointed.
"Huh? Where, where?!" Gaelz blinked and looked carefully inside.
In the kitchen.
Roy had just washed his hands and heard the voices outside, so he stuck his head out to take a look.
What a pretty girl from the Giant Tribe~!
"Hello~! I'm from the Long-Armed Tribe." The Long-Armed Tribe child ran in and threw his arm around Roy.
"Ah, hi." Roy gave a nonchalant nod, and Gaelz outside waved at him, shouting, "Hi, I'm Gaelz!"
He waved back. "Hi, I'm Harold Roy!"
The Long-Armed Tribe child grinned and poked Roy. "Hey, hey, hey, how do I look~?"
"." Roy ignored him, rolled up his sleeves, and went back into the kitchen.
"Nun, let me help you!" Roy walked over to the nun, took the ingredients, and began preparing the food.
[Intimacy with Gaelz +1!]
[Intimacy with Gaelz +1!]
[Intimacy with Gaelz +1!]
Three consecutive prompts popped up as Roy washed the vegetables and placed them on the cutting board, cutting them while his mouth curled slightly. Not bad. It seems even the Giant Tribe girl could be worth trying to flirt with.
Just wondering, will the Giant Tribe's talent be able to fit into his card slots~?
Outside, Linlin sat on the ground, chatting with the Giant Tribe kids, Helding and Gaelz, who were of similar size.
"I'll tell you guys, Roy's cooking is so delicious!" Linlin said happily to Gaelz.
Gaelz hugged her knees, blinking as she looked at Linlin, listening intently.
To Gaelz, the orphans at Lamb's Home were all oddballs, and today, someone who actually looked decent had finally arrived.
"Also, also, he's really good at hunting. When he throws his dagger, a little rabbit just dies with a perfect strike!" Linlin said as she got hungrier, wiping away some drool.
"Tch~" Helding sneered and pulled out the sword from his back, flaunting it in front of the others. "That's just catching a rabbit. We giants will be world-renowned warriors, surpassing the Great Giant Pirate Group!"
As he spoke, the young Helding glanced sideways at the others, trying to gauge their reaction. The orphans from Lamb's Home all laughed it off, not taking it seriously.
Meanwhile, Linlin, rubbing her stomach, mumbled quietly, "I'm so hungry~"
Gaelz had heard this so many times that she was tired of it, responding vaguely, "Wow, that's amazing~"
"." Helding.
In the empty space in front of the house, tables were set up, and Roy walked out of the house, holding a plate. He placed the fragrant dishes on the table.
He glanced at the boasting Helding, curious about one thing.
How did Helding, who had been training with a sword since childhood, end up turning to fists as he grew up?
"Linlin, it's time to eat." Roy waved, then smiled at Gaelz. "Would you like to join?"
"Sure~" Gaelz nodded in response.
Roy glanced at Helding, who was staring at him, then turned and went back into the house to bring more food.
"." Helding stared, wondering why he wasn't invited.
At lunch, Helding was dragged away by Redin, but Gaelz stayed behind to eat.
Around the table in the empty space, a group of "adorable little kids" gathered.
A Long-Armed Tribe child, taking advantage of his long arms, kept reaching for others' food.
A Fishman child, showing sharp teeth, occasionally hissed at the Long-Armed Tribe child.
A child who looked like a panda hybrid,
Linlin, who was bigger than the nun, and Gaelz.
Such a group of cute little kids~!
"That's mine, that's mine, it's all mine, it's so delicious!" The Long-Armed Tribe child kept grabbing others' food, but when he saw Linlin, who was much bigger than him, he quickly retracted his hand and reached for Roy's plate instead.
"Smack!" Roy didn't even look up. His left hand shot out and grabbed the child's paw. "Eat your own food properly. If you mess around again, I'll have Linlin take off that extra joint of yours!"
Linlin suddenly realized that the boy in yellow clothes had an extra joint. Feeling playful, she rubbed her hands together.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" The Long-Armed Tribe child flinched, his head shrinking like an ostrich as he awkwardly moved his chair.
"Today's food was made by Roy. It's really good, Roy," the nun said, smiling as she rubbed the troublemakers' heads.
"So delicious!!" Linlin, pulling her gaze away from the Long-Armed Tribe child, took a bite and exclaimed excitedly.
A week later.
Lamb's Home.
On the grass, Roy lay in the shade, reaching up to shuffle through his talent cards, visible only to himself.
Linlin's intimacy value was quite strange; for other girls, he relied on favorability and charm to raise it, but for Linlin, it was through food temptation.
Although food worked faster than emotional connections in boosting intimacy at the start, the rate slowed down as time went on.
After a week, he had slowly accumulated 5 points of intimacy.
It was probably due to the repetitive ingredients and the limited variety in the dishes. He needed to think of something new.
[Intimacy with Charlotte Linlin reached 60, granting one Talent Card Copying Opportunity!]
Swish, swish, swish.
The gray cards gradually lost their color, emitting bright light.
Roy focused on one card that had transformed from gray into orange.
[Iron Defense.]
