One Piece: Check-in System

Chapter 7: Using Every Trick to Finally Obtain Training Methods

Rayleigh glanced at Reno's smug expression and sarcastically said, "Since you're so brilliant, you should be able to master training without a teacher. Go figure it out yourself."

Hearing this, Reno rolled his eyes in exasperation. Although he had read the original story, it barely mentioned any details about training methods. Trying to piece together a training technique from scattered information would waste precious time. Why bother when he had a ready-made expert in front of him?

Spending that time completing mission tasks sounded much more appealing.

Reno resolved that today, he had to get Rayleigh to teach him. He didn't want to follow the protagonist group's early experience of getting stronger through constant beatings. Luffy's early growth in strength was, without exaggeration, forged through relentless pummeling.

With this in mind, Reno shamelessly persisted, "Oh, come on, Uncle Rayleigh! My so-called brilliance is only good for clever tricks. When it comes to training, I desperately need your help!"

While Reno's mouth said this, his mind added: Since I need your help now, I'll let you feel proud for a bit.

Rayleigh shot Reno a skeptical glance and, with a shake of his head, dismissed him. "You're too young right now. Training would do you more harm than good. Why don't you just go play by yourself?"

But Reno had prepared for this. He lifted his pen and notebook, smiling cheekily. "Of course, I know I'm too young to train right now. But that doesn't mean I can't prepare for the future! You just need to tell me the training methods, and I'll write them down to use when I'm ready."

Rayleigh was in no mood for such trouble and casually brushed him off. "I'm not going anywhere. Come find me when you're old enough to train."

Reno could tell Rayleigh was just humoring him. If he didn't know the Roger Pirates would disband soon, he might've believed the old man's excuse.

What Reno truly wanted was to learn the methods of mastering Haki. While he was too young to train now, writing it all down in his notebook was the safest option.

He'd considered going to Sabaody Archipelago in the future to find Rayleigh, but with his existence as a transmigrator, who could guarantee the story wouldn't change? Recording everything now was his best bet.

Without revealing the impending disbandment, Reno turned to his last resort: shamelessness. "Didn't you just say I should plan ahead? Well, that's what I'm doing now. You can't just leave me hanging!"

"Teaching requires setting a good example. What you're doing now isn't right. Were all those things you said before just nonsense?"

"Blah, blah, blah… blah, blah, blah…"

Reno leaned close to Rayleigh, chattering endlessly about responsibility, morals, and ethics, delivering an emotional barrage that combined logic and sentiment.

Rayleigh, bombarded to the point of eye-rolling, pushed Reno's little head away in exasperation. "You little rascal, enough is enough! How did I not realize before that you're so shameless?"

Reno leaned right back in, grinning cheekily. "I heard a saying once: 'A man needs face like a tree needs bark. But a man without face is unstoppable!'"

Rayleigh glared at him, wondering what kind of twisted environment could produce such an incorrigible five-year-old. This kid could talk circles around people, turning black into white with ease.

The worst part? While Reno had been lecturing him just now, Rayleigh had felt guilty—as if he were the one in the wrong.

Completely fed up, Rayleigh finally relented with a huff. "Fine! I'll share my training insights and teach you the methods for Haki. But I'll only explain once. If you can't grasp it, that's on you. And don't bother me again after this!"

"Yes, Master Rayleigh!"

Reno, thrilled at finally succeeding, immediately changed his address to "Master." His tone was so sweet it could melt sugar, making him seem like an obedient child. But anyone familiar with him knew better—he was a full-blown little devil.

"Don't call me Master! I don't want to be your teacher!" Rayleigh quickly corrected him, as though afraid Reno would cling to him forever.

Rayleigh's thoughts weren't far off. If just one lesson was this exhausting, being his full-time teacher would be a nightmare.

"Okay, Uncle Rayleigh!"

Reno had only called him "Master" in a moment of excitement. He wasn't interested in being anyone's apprentice, either.

Rayleigh began explaining his training experience, and Reno listened attentively, carefully noting every detail in his little notebook.

While the Roger Pirates continued drinking and laughing on the deck, their ship steadily approached the island where Shanks and Buggy awaited their return—a destination they had agreed upon before departing.

They were now close to their goal and would soon reach the island.

Unbeknownst to them, however, danger was lying in wait along their route, ready to ensnare them.

Blue Star Island

This was where Shanks and Buggy were currently staying.

Because of Buggy's illness and other reasons, they hadn't accompanied Roger to Laugh Tale but stayed on this island to await his return.

At the island's coastal "port," two young boys, around ten years old, crouched side by side, staring out at the sea as though waiting for someone.

These boys were none other than Shanks and Buggy, left behind to wait for the Roger Pirates' return.

As they watched the waves, Shanks suddenly stood, clapping Buggy on the shoulder with a serious expression. "Buggy, don't you think something feels off?"

Buggy looked up at Shanks, confused. "The sea looks calm as far as I can see. What could be wrong?"

But Shanks' gaze remained tense, fixed on the horizon. The waves were not coming in smooth sheets but in lines—a strange, foreboding sight.
