One night with the Mafia King

Chapter 81: Congratulations to both of you

The morning sunlight streamed through the curtains as Bella finished tidying up the kitchen. Rachel was already dressed in her school uniform, humming a cheerful tune as she packed her bag. Lucas had arrived earlier, his usual punctual self, and was now helping Rachel tie her shoelaces.

"All set, princess?" Lucas asked, ruffling Rachel's hair gently.

She grinned up at him, nodding. "All set, Mr. Handsome!"

Bella couldn't help but smile at their easy camaraderie. Despite the whirlwind of emotions she had been dealing with, moments like these reminded her of the steady presence Lucas had become in her life.

After dropping Rachel off at school, the car ride to the hospital was quiet. Bella stared out the window, her hands resting protectively over her abdomen. She was certain about keeping the baby now, but the thought of navigating pregnancy still left her with countless questions.

Lucas glanced at her, breaking the silence. "You okay?"

She turned to him, her lips curving into a soft smile. "I think so. Just… a lot to think about. But I feel better knowing you're here."

He reached over, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze. "We've got this."

At the hospital, they were ushered into the familiar consultation room. Dr. Harris walked in with her usual warm demeanor, her eyes lighting up when she saw them.

"Bella, Lucas....nice to see you both again," Dr. Harris greeted, taking a seat across from them. "So, what's the decision? You were a bit uncertain on your previous visit, right. I hope you have considered things before finalizing anything."

Bella exchanged a brief glance with Lucas before speaking, her voice steady. "We've decided to keep the baby."

Dr. Harris's smile widened. "That's wonderful news. Congratulations to both of you."

"Thank you," Bella said softly, her hand instinctively moving to her stomach.

"Well then," the doctor continued, "let's focus on making sure this pregnancy goes as smoothly as possible. You're already about eight weeks along, so the first trimester care is crucial. How have you been feeling?"

"A bit tired and nauseous, but nothing unbearable," Bella admitted.

"That's normal, especially in the first trimester," Dr. Harris reassured her. "Make sure you're getting plenty of rest, staying hydrated, and eating small, frequent meals. I'll prescribe some prenatal vitamins as well."

She handed Bella a notepad with a list of dos and don'ts, explaining each point carefully. Bella listened attentively, occasionally nodding as Lucas chimed in with questions.

"Is there anything specific we should watch out for?" Lucas asked, his brow furrowed slightly.

"Mainly signs of complications, like severe cramping, bleeding, or persistent dizziness," Dr. Harris replied. "But from what I see so far, everything seems on track."

"Thank you," Bella said, her voice filled with genuine gratitude. "This is all very helpful."

Dr. Harris leaned back slightly, her expression softening. "Pregnancy can be overwhelming, but it's also a beautiful journey. Remember, I'm here if you have any concerns. And don't hesitate to call if you need advice."

As they left the doctor's office, Bella felt a sense of relief. The conversation had been straightforward, and the guidance had eased some of her lingering worries.

On the way back to the car, Lucas looked over at her, a small smile playing on his lips. "Feeling better?"

"Much better," she admitted. "I think hearing everything laid out clearly helped."

He opened the car door for her, waiting until she was settled before closing it and walking around to the driver's side. "Good. Because you're not doing this alone."

As they drove back home, a comfortable silence settled between them. Bella gazed out the window, her thoughts swirling with the possibilities ahead. While the future still held its challenges, she felt a newfound sense of confidence. With Lucas by her side, she was ready to face them.

When they reached her house, he leaned in to unclasp her seatbelt. He quickly unfasten it and looked at her. Her eyes widened seeing him so close to her face.

For a moment both of them got so lost in each other's eyes that they didn't even notice someone knocking on the car door.

Bella was the first one to turn her face to the other side after she saw a person knocking on the car door. But he still maintained the same distance, not moving an inch even if Bella turned her face away.

She turned to look at him again, and blushed watching him look at her so intensely. "There is someone," she told him.

He looked at her for one more time before turning away to look at this unknown man.
