One night with the Mafia King

Chapter 78: Is he going to kiss her?

As they walked into the store, they were immediately greeted by eager staff, ready to attend to their every need.

However, Bella felt overwhelmed by the attention. The store was opulent, filled with designer dresses that cost more than she made in a month. The sales assistants hovered around her, making her feel out of place and uncomfortable. She could feel their eyes on her, silently judging her every move.

Sensing her discomfort, Lucas stepped in. "Thank you, but we'll take it from here," he said, waving the staff away with a firm but polite tone. The employees quickly nodded and dispersed, leaving them alone in the spacious dressing area.

"Better?" he asked, turning to her with a reassuring smile. She let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding. "Much better. Thank you."

They browsed through the racks together, and he picked out a few dresses for her to try. She eventually chose a beautiful, white dress with delicate lace detailing along the neckline and sleeves. The color complemented her skin and she couldn't deny that it made her feel more confident.

She went into the dressing room to change, but as she tried to zip up the back, she realized she was stuck. The lace at the top was delicate and intricate, and she couldn't reach the zipper without risking tearing it.

She peeked her head through the door to ask for help from the nearby staff. "Um...Is someone there. Could you please help me with this?" she called out, her voice hesitant.

Lucas appeared by the door, his eyes softening when he heard her voice. "Of course, let me help you." he replied.

"I asked for a staff." She blushed when she saw him standing in front of her.

"Why? Do you think I can't handle a simple dress? Ms. Bella you are clearly underestimating me." He told her proudly as if he himself worked there.

"I'm not underestimating you."

He huffed. "So... You are not comfortable with me helping you." She looked at his disappointed eyes. After all his efforts to trying to be a part of her life, she is still not comfortable with him.

"No that's not the case. I feel comfortable with you." She told him truthfully.

"So let me help you." He told her, stepping inside the dressing room. His presence filled the small space, making her suddenly aware of the closeness between them.

She nodded and turned her back to him, holding her hair to the side to give him access to the zipper. His fingers brushed against her skin as he carefully worked the zipper up, and she shivered at the contact. Maybe.... he did too.

"There," he said softly, his voice almost a whisper. "All done."

She turned around, their faces just inches apart. The air between them crackled with unspoken tension. "Thank you," she murmured, her heart racing.

He smiled, his eyes lingering on hers. "You look... stunning," he said, his voice deepening.

The compliment made her blush, and she quickly looked away, smoothing down the dress to distract herself. "I'm not sure if it's... too much for meeting your parents," she said, her voice uncertain.

"Nonsense," he replied, his tone warm. "You're perfect, just like this."

For a moment, they were lost in each other's gaze, the intimacy of the moment making them forget everything else. His figure towered her, when he took a step towards her. His face was more closer this time, so much that she can feel his breath on her lips. Is he going to kiss her?
