One-Eyed Monster

Chapter 224: Two-Faced Person

Collision is the primal state of conflict.

"I seem to have hit something."

By the time Igor uttered these words, his Spirit Power was already wandering back and forth on Kadi's tail.

Kadi felt a shiver run through his body, a sensation he had never experienced before. To be honest, it wasn't pleasant at all; Kadi felt as if he had been struck by lightning, his entire body tingling, numb, and aching.

"I think we are wasting time..." Before Kadi could finish his sentence, he felt another shiver run through him.

"Don't talk, I'm secretly following him," Igor said, his expression shrouded in a mystery that was difficult to comprehend.

Kadi looked at Igor's enigmatic face, as always, completely puzzled about what Igor was planning.

Igor's Spirit Power Feedback informed him that another current of Spirit Power was moving along Kadi's tail, and this Spirit Power was clearly not Kadi's.

Kadi's Spirit Power wasn't this dense. This particular current felt like a battle-hardened warhorse—cautious, alert, and possessed of considerable majesty.

"Perhaps this is an aura, a powerful aura," Igor mumbled to himself. He couldn't afford to be distracted; his Spirit Power was repelled the instant it made contact with the other, giving him no chance to advance.

Kadi felt two warm currents colliding within his body. One was as firm as a mountain, while the other continuously assailed it, like flowing water.

Moreover, these two currents had no connection to him at all; they were complete foreign invaders.

"I found him again! He's right behind us. I'm going to catch him," Igor suddenly blurted out, surprising everyone.

Kadi, whose night vision was quite good, was surprised to find that Igor's eyes looked vacant, as if he were in a daze.

"Igor! What's wrong with you?" Seeing Igor's dazed expression, Kadi grew extremely anxious. This was a situation beyond his comprehension; he couldn't help and could only worry.

"Igor!" Kadi continued to call out.

"Hey, I say, one-eyed buddy," the Spirit Book began, once again overflowing with arrogance, starting its unique performance in an extremely irritating voice.

"Huh?" Kadi found it odd. How could the Spirit Book be in the mood to joke around at a time like this?

"What I mean is, don't panic. The master is currently struggling in the Timeline. You must believe in the master's strength."

"What does that mean?" The Spirit Book's words interrupted Kadi's urge to rush over and shake Igor.

"It's a conflict of time; we can't get involved. We cannot cross time and space freely; only Time-Leaper People can do that. The master is currently tracking that Time-Leaper Person, and we must not interrupt him or cause him to lose focus," the Spirit Book said meaningfully, its tone mimicking an old man, which was very strange. To put it colloquially, the Spirit Book was currently speaking to Kadi in a tone that practically begged for a beating.

"Then why can Igor participate, but I can't? Could it be that Igor is a Time-Leaper Person too?" Kadi's question was quite reasonable.

"This..." the Spirit Book was momentarily rendered speechless, its earlier posturing instantly collapsing, leaving no trace at all.

"Aren't you the all-knowing Lord Soluwen..."

"It's Soron!" the Spirit Book quickly corrected. "Disrespect towards Lord Soron can be a very serious matter."

"Right, Lord Soron, can you tell me what on earth is happening to Igor?" Kadi's words were heartfelt, with no hint of mockery.

"He, I mean, our master, has already stepped into the Time Gap—a gap that you and I cannot see. We can't do anything about it; all we can do is wait..." the Spirit Book continued.

"Hey, Two-Faced Man, where do you think you're going? Get back here!" Igor blurted out another bizarre sentence before the Spirit Book could finish, surprising Kadi even more.

The Two-Faced Man!

Isn't the Two-Faced Man Mr. Arnold?

Kadi suddenly felt dizzy. How could Mr. Arnold appear in a place like this? And how could he be with Igor?

Although Kadi couldn't see the so-called Time Gap, nor did he know what Igor was actually doing, he was certain that Igor had never met Mr. Arnold.

Previously, while he hadn't questioned theories about Time Leaps, Forward-Time People, or Reverse-Time People, not having witnessed it firsthand or heard more about it still left a tiny bit of unwillingness to accept.

Now, the appearance of this Two-Faced Man had given Kadi a considerable shock.

Perhaps this was only a coincidence, just a coincidence. Maybe he had a friend also known as the Two-Faced Man, and he was dreaming at this moment... Kadi tricked himself in this way, as he was fundamentally reluctant to accept this intricate situation.

"Half baby, half old man. Wow, his face looks so strange," Igor's voice drifted from mid-air.

This sentence thoroughly snapped Kadi out of his wishful thinking. No matter how unwilling he was, he had to accept it all.

Yes, Mr. Arnold indeed had half a baby's face and half an old man's face.

Mr. Arnold was the most human-like monster in the entire Guru Mountain group. Besides his face, which was split into two distinct appearances, Mr. Arnold looked entirely human otherwise. Kadi privately called Mr. Arnold the "Two-Faced Man." This nickname was very vivid, and of course, Mr. Arnold's appearance was only one reason for its vividness.

The other reason was rather difficult to understand. Mr. Arnold's actual name was Arnold. If you addressed him as Arnold, he would be very polite, displaying the demeanor of a man raised in a refined environment—unlike that old fellow Kevin, who would swear at the drop of a hat. However, if you addressed him as Arnold, it would be an entirely different scene. At that time, Mr. Arnold would seem extremely unfamiliar and very irritable, regardless of who or what he was dealing with. Mr. Arnold and Mr. Arnold were two completely different people, yet they occupied the same body...

Moreover, the monsters of Guru Mountain also treated Mr. Arnold with this distinction. For example, Xiso and Kuren would call the Two-Faced Man "Arnold," while Kevin, Dastan, and others liked to address Mr. Arnold as "Arnold."

It was a difficult thing to comprehend. The only thing Kadi could be certain of was that Mr. Arnold had two incomplete faces and was a Two-Faced Man.

Naturally, Kadi had never imagined Mr. Arnold would appear here, and in a way he completely failed to understand.

Could it be that Mr. Arnold is really a Time-Leaper Person? The thought involuntarily crossed Kadi's mind.

"Hey, hey, one-eyed dude, what are you spacing out for?" the Spirit Book interrupted Kadi's thoughts obnoxiously.

"What?" Kadi snapped back to reality. Igor, beside him, was still dazed, showing no signs of progress, while the Spirit Book seemed to have completely shed its earlier fear and was now quite animated.

Perhaps Igor needs my help, Kadi thought. He had fully accepted the concept of the timeline leap. Now, his only desire was to assist Igor so they could escape this leaping rhythm together.

Maybe this Spirit Book knows what to do, Kadi thought, a slight smile playing on his lips.

"Hey, one-eyed dude, what are you grinning about?" the Spirit Book asked, its pretentious act becoming more severe.

"Tell me, O great Lord Soron, how should I help Igor? Oh, I mean, your master," Kadi said with a sly grin, as if he'd found something amusing.

"Hmm, let me think. Perhaps... maybe... we can't do much for now. But speaking with the master isn't entirely impossible," the Spirit Book replied, its demeanor immediately changing after being flattered.

Just being able to talk to him will be enough, Kadi thought to himself. The rest can be left to Igor.
