Chapter 126: 125.5 - Ghost #2
"Are you absolutely sure about your 'Good' idea, Sir?"
Alfred's sassy concerned words rung loud in the silent cave, echoing off the rigged old walls.
The Bat-Computer cast a dimlight aginst Batman's shadowy figure, illuminating his grim expression. "There is no time for other options, Alfred," He answered, his eyes focused on the running Calcuations.
"Jumping into a Dimension you have no knowledge is not a 'Good' idea, Sir. " Alfred poked. "You could always ask help from your new friends. I am sure they would be happy to help."
"They are need here to protect earth from what's coming," Batman answered, his hand jumping across the keyboard. "And we need Superman, he is the only one strong enough to stop this Kryptonian invasion."
Alfred raised a brow, "You could always ask Zion for help. It is also his duty to protect his people."
This caused Batman to react, making him turn and looked at Alfred with a frown, his lips pursed. But Alfred's poker face was unmatched as he stared back at his stupidly stubborn son with matched intensity.
"There is no other way," Batman said and turned his head away. "Nion is a wild card, and I am sure he already knows," Batman continued. "They could deal with it while I rescue Superman."
"And How do your plan on returning after you Rescued Superman?"
"..."
Batman had no plan for that. Yet.
Alfred sighed heavily, knowing that Bruce would not listen to any advice.
The Bat-computer finally completed its calculations, giving him the location of the next Phantom Breach. He turned around, pulling his cowl onto his head. He gave Alfred a silent nod before he rushed towards the Bat-mobile.
Alfred watched as Batman jump into the Bat-mobile and drive off into the darkness, Vanishing from his sight. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, opening his eyes and meeting the dim scree of the Bat-Computer.
"Mister Zai, are you watching?" Alfred voiced in the lonely Bat-cave.
The silence continued. For a moment.
A golden chibi head poke from the side of the screen, looking sheepish. Zai walked to the center, looking like a child caught red handed while stealing cookie.

["Hi, Alfred"]
He gave a light wave.
Alfred gave a slight not to the Supreme A.I. "I preseume that Zion already has plans to deal with this new trouble."
Zai didn't answer, but flashed a bright smile. Alfred reflected with a slight smile on his poker face. "Then I shall return to my duties."
["Bye Bye, Alfred."]

....
The Batmobile tore through the empty streets of Gotham, its engine a growl against the city's eerie morning silence. The crystalline skyline shimmered in the rising sun, but Batman barely spared it a glance. His HUD displayed the coordinates of the next predicted breach, a apartment on the city's outskirts.
A minute and thirty seconds.
That's all he had before the next breach.
The city had changed, but the shadows not. It was still his city, it was still his duty to protect it.
They had already taken Superman,
And now, it was his turn.
Batman tightened his grip on the wheel, his mind racing through the prepared contingencies. The Phantom Zone was a void were time and space were non-existent, a prison perfect to hold Krypton's worst criminals.
He had seen the files on it, read the scatter records Superman has shared before his abduction, but there was no true understanding of what lay beyond the veil.
But none of that mattered.
Superman needed him.
And Batman let no man behind.
The Bat-mobile screeched to a halt just as the breach detector alarmed. His visor changed, outlining the phantom breach forming in front of him, blending with reality like a mirage.
Thirty seconds.
Batman's gauntlet synced with the Batcomputer.
His final command: [Initiate Protocol .]
A warning flashed across his visor: WARNING: UNSTABLE ENTRY POINT. PROCEED WITH CAUTION.
He exhaled. Room for caution left when they lost Superman
He stepped out of the Batmobile, eyes locked on the breach. The fragmented dimension reaching its ghostly tendrils into their tendrils. He adjusted his cape, ensuring every piece of his arsenal was secured. His fingers brushed against glowing Bat Symbol made of unknown metal.
"Alright," he muttered. "Let's see what hell looks like."
With one final step, Batman plunged into the breach.
...
In the Wayne Manor,
Alfred stood before the Batcomputer, watching as the signal from Batman flickered, then disappeared entirely.
He straightened his posture, his face impassive. Then, he activated the emergency distress beacon.
[Justice League Priority Alert—Code Phantom.]
Across the world, encrypted signals lit up consoles, holographic screens, and personal communicators. In the Watchtower, an alert flashed on John Jones's communicator. In Themyscira, a message reached Diana's chambers. In Keystone City, Barry was mid-bite into a sandwich when his communicator blared.
...
Batman felt nothing.
No wind. No gravity.
Only endless silence that seem to stretch for eternity.
His feet touched solid ground—if such a thing could be called solid. It was like stepping on mist, yet it held his weight. The world around him was devoid of color, a desaturated wasteland where jagged formations stretched into infinity.
There was no sun, no sky. Just an endless expanse of broken rock and ethereal shadows drifting like lost souls.
He activated his visor's analysis mode. His surroundings registered as... nothing.
No air. No temperature. No life.
...
Kara's figure materialized against the raging Snowstorm, her eyes filled with furry.
