Chapter 49: Second Phase
Facing the Guardian's first phase was one thing, but now facing the second phase was completely different.
"Attention! Now he can use both types of magic at the same time!" I exclaimed to guide my Summons.
Yes, it wasn't just the Guardian's appearance that had changed, and that became clear when dozens of spears of light appeared above my house. Then, all of these spears were imbued with an aura of fire and began to fall like flaming meteors across the battlefield.
My agility was high, so it was relatively easy for me and the two Laufus to dodge these spears.
However, as Ghost Wizards weren't exactly known for their agility, they were immediately impaled by dozens of light stakes.
Since they were specters, their bodies were immune to normal physical damage, but the situation was completely different when they were hit by magic.

[Summon 3 has been destroyed!]
I gritted my teeth and gripped the hilt of my sword, but I didn't have time to immediately summon reinforcements. The stakes of light were still falling from the sky like raindrops.
*Foooshh!*
A fireball was suddenly fired from the Guardian's central head toward me, catching me by surprise.
I didn't have time to dodge in time, as the fire was already illuminating my face. For that reason, I raised my left arm to protect myself as much as possible from critical damage.
However, at the last second, Laufus Second placed himself between me and the fireball.
"Laufus!" I exclaimed when I saw him, and he smiled at me with his eyes.
Realizing that the blue-cloaked knight was getting in the way, the left head turned all its attention to him.
Its eyes flashed, and a large sword of light appeared in its left hand, but Laufus First appeared just as she was about to swing the sword at us.
Laufus First stabbed his sword into the side of the left head and twisted the sword's hilt, causing the sword to activate its splitting ability and also opening a huge hole in the left head.
I widened my eyes, surprised at Laufus' ingenuity in dealing even greater damage.
The light sword disappeared from his left hand, and his entire body took a few steps back due to the critical damage.
"If I'm not mistaken, the left head controls the left hand and the right head controls the right hand. That means the middle head controls the legs! If we destroy the middle head, we'll destroy their ability to move!" I concluded as I summoned a few more allies for this battle.
At the beginning of this battle, I thought Skeleton Soldiers would be useless in this battle, as they couldn't protect themselves from magic attacks, but if I wanted to distract the Guardian's attention, they were very good because they consumed very little mana to summon them.
"Okay! Foolish, command a distraction troop!" I exclaimed as ten Skeleton Soldiers appeared behind me.
One of the Skeleton Soldiers, the one with spiked metal shoulder pads because he was a named Summon, bowed his head and then raised his sword high.
In response to Foolish's command, all the Skeleton Soldiers raised their swords as well and charged forward.
"Now, I need someone to take advantage of the distraction and..." As I thought, with one hand on my chin, I felt a chill run through my body and knew that the Guardian had already recovered.
I looked up and saw six pairs of glowing eyes staring at me. They now seemed to understand that it was me who was summoning all these undead creatures.
I smiled from ear to ear, even though I was completely terrified of being the primary target of such a powerful creature.
"It won't do any good to summon Selrik now, because they're still watching me."
Laufus Second seemed to understand what I muttered, because he started running toward the Guardian without me giving the order.
When a fireball was fired from the left head toward the troop of Skeleton Soldiers, Laufus First deflected the ball with a sword cut and also joined the direct charge against the Guardian.
It was at that moment that I realized they wanted to completely direct the Guardian's attention to themselves to buy me time.
So, I ran behind some large debris to make sure that none of the Guardian's three heads could see me and summoned Selrik, the Shadow Assassin.
Unlike Laufus and Odran, Selrik was the same height as me and wore a long black cloak over his light armor. At his waist were the short sheaths for his pair of daggers.
Selrik bowed immediately after being summoned, waiting for the order he would receive.
"Pay attention, Selrik, take advantage of the shadows cast by the rubble of this city to attack our opponent from behind. Normally, I wouldn't worry about you being noticed by anyone, but our opponent is strong and can literally see you even if you try to attack him from behind. The others and I will create the right moment for you to attack."
Selrik respectfully nodded and drew his two daggers. When he ran toward the shadows, I knew that was my cue to return to the battle.
But instead of blindly running back into the battlefield, I ran to the top of a collapsed building to get a better view of the situation.
The Skeleton Soldiers were attacking the Guardian's legs, but the damage was minimal, and sometimes one of them was fatally crushed by the giant monster's feet.
The Guardian's heads were obviously more concerned with the two Laufus, as they were the only ones who posed a threat. Coincidentally or not, when I reached the top of the building, the three heads decided to focus their attention on a single Laufus and attacked simultaneously.
What looked like a hundred spears of light suddenly appeared around Laufus Second, and he, with no chance of escape, was pierced by at least half of them.
