Chapter 47: LV1 or LVMAX
That giant golem was big and strong, but its speed was limited. I could test my dodging skills against it or try a sneak attack.
"Laufus, come here. I found an interesting target."
Laufus immediately jumped back to my side. The summoned knight didn't question my orders; he just obeyed them.
As we approached the golem, which was walking down what appeared to be an avenue, it didn't take long for it to notice our presence and let out a deafening roar.
The force of this cry made the nearby buildings shake and spread even more dust into the air.
Then it started running towards me. Contrary to what I expected, it was surprisingly fast.
The moment it got close enough, it raised one of its arms, and a magical axe suddenly appeared in its hand.
"Let's see what you're made of," I whispered, bending my knees and preparing for the clash. "Laufus! Attack from the flanks!"
My order was given at the same moment the hammer came down with brutal force. I rolled to the side at the last moment, and the monster's weapon struck the ground, generating a shockwave that cracked the asphalt.
Laufus appeared at the monster's side and lunged with his sword, leaving a deep gash in the Superior Golem's arm.
The monster didn't roar in pain like normal monsters would, but instead immediately tried to retaliate with a blow from its hammer.
Laufus, however, was much faster. He jumped back, easily avoiding the retaliation.
I took advantage of the distraction to attack myself. I drew the Laufus Sword from its sheath, the same one I had earned for killing Laufus, and brandished it to attack the golem's left flank. Unfortunately, the golem's skin was even harder than I thought, and my attack only made a mere scratch.
The golem writhed and tried to hit me with its elbow, but I had already repositioned myself at a safe distance as soon as I heard the sharp clang of my blow.
The monster, realizing it was at a disadvantage, changed its strategy.
When Laufus tried to attack it head-on, the golem did not try to hit him directly. Instead, it slammed its hammer into the ground with all its might, creating a brutal shockwave that threw Laufus backward and caused even me, who was a few meters away, to feel the shockwave.
However, this was too foolish a move for a monster at a disadvantage like him. The powerful attack against the ground raised a curtain of smoke and debris that obstructed his entire vision.
"Laufus, now!"
The red-cloaked knight spun in the air, and as soon as he landed on the ground, he became a blur of movement impossible to see in the cloud of dust. In an instant, he slid to the right of the creature and, with a devastating blow, his blade tore off the Superior Golem's right leg.
The Superior Golem tried to defend itself from the second blow, but it didn't know where it would come from. Little did it know that the attack would not come from either side, but from above. By the time it noticed Laufus' presence, it was too late.
Laufus' sword came down horizontally in a straight line, splitting the Superior Golem into two equal parts.

I raised one eyebrow when I received the new skill. I still didn't fully understand how this skill copying system worked, since Laufus had killed more than a dozen Lower Golems and hadn't gained any. Was it luck?
Either way, I could copy this skill or leave it with my summons, since when one learned it, they all learned it.
It was different from the skills they had before they became my summons, which were unique to them.
Furthermore, unlike the first skill my summons absorbed, this [Force Imposition] was Level 1 and not lvMAX. That meant my summons could evolve these skills in some way, so I decided to leave this skill with them for now.
"Let's just take this golem's eyes and move on, Laufus. We still have 988 golems to kill!"
I exclaimed to Laufus as I walked toward him.
Laufus nodded and took out the two shiny stones that the golem used as eyes.

Observation Gem would be useful to me if I wanted to keep an eye on my family, but since I had read 'The Journey to the Beyond', I knew that there were researchers who would pay a lot for a single gem.
"Hehehe! I can already smell the money!"
In the next few minutes, Laufus and I cut through the groups of golems as if we were clearing tall grass. My knight tore apart anyone who came near, and thanks to the significant increase in my attributes to reach Level 1, I was able to keep up with him.
Between strikes, dodges, strikes, and more dodges, kill notifications overlapped in a constant stream. My body acted on pure instinct, and in a way, it was like playing a classic hack n slash game, just slicing through monsters with ease.

However, as in any hack n slash game, there were enemies that deserved attention, especially those at the end of the level.
When I felt an overwhelming, strong, and monstrous presence, I snapped out of my state of pure immersion.
A roar echoed through the ruined city, shaking even the most distant debris. I looked in the direction from which the sound seemed to come and saw three pairs of golden eyes. Three heads, but only one giant body. Each of these heads had a different, unchanging expression. One was smiling, another was angry, and the last, the central head, looked at me with an air of superiority.
The height of this monster was close to ten meters, and its massive size made the Superior Golem look like an Inferior Golem.
This was The Guardian, the one who protected the passage to the second floor of the Tower of Giants and also the first monster to kill the original protagonist more than once.
