Glossary (Spoiler-Reduced)

Author's Note:

Greetings, MuteStar here. This chapter serves as a condensed repository of information to aid in understanding the intricacies of world-building. While minor spoilers are present, they are minimal. This should provide valuable insight into the foundations of this universe.

Piece 1: Core Concepts

Glory

A sentient, omnipotent force—immutable and paradoxical in nature, embodying both power and suffering. Those touched by it are both blessed and cursed, forever marked as Seekers—reluctant warriors bound to an eternal conflict against the Shores.

Night Shifts

Seekers may choose to embark on Night Shifts, hunting Shores to acquire the resources necessary for survival and advancement. However, Shores also exist beyond the fortified citadels, posing a formidable threat. The First Night Shift is a rite of passage—neither entirely compulsory nor optional. Yet, for one to attain the status of a True Seeker, undergoing this initiation is paramount.

Seekers

Individuals chosen by Glory, imbued with extraordinary strength and set forth to safeguard the world.

Shores

Monstrous entities that perceive all living beings—even nature itself—as sustenance.

The Cycle

Every Seeker follows a brutal, unrelenting cycle:

Selection: Marked by Glory without warning or discernible reason.

Descent: Thrust into their First Night Shift with no prior training.

Survival: Those who endure are irrevocably altered, their latent abilities manifesting unpredictably.

Ascension: Growth through relentless combat—though not without sacrifice.

Setting

A world of unparalleled technological advancement, where ancient forces and futuristic innovation intertwine.

Piece 2: Ranks

Seekers (From weakest to strongest)

Hollowborn

Veiled

Dread-Touched

Fang-Wrought

Wraithbound

Lurkers

Top-Levels (A title rather than a fixed rank, denoting supremacy)

Shores (Classified by lethality)

Gloamings

Ruinborn

Howlers

Harbingers

Wraithlords

Eclipsed Lords

Note: The strongest Shores exist only as whispered myths—terrors beyond mortal comprehension.

Piece 3: Systems & Mechanics

Path

A Seeker's Path defines their combat evolution, dictating their specialisation and role in battle.

Attribute

A singular divine ability granted to each Seeker, shaping their power and fighting style.

Hindrance

A flaw inherent to an Attribute—one that can cripple even the strongest Seeker, rendering them vulnerable to the weakest Shore.

Augmentations

Soul-bound rewards obtained from Shores, encompassing a vast array of enhancements:

Weapons

Armour

Beasts (Rare)

Items & Potions

Memories

Special Sense

A distinct ability separate from one's Attribute, varying in number and function.

Formations

The developmental stages of a Special Sense, denoting its refinement and mastery.

Caculs

A system akin to experience points in traditional games, representing a Seeker's progression.

Note: Rank alone does not determine supremacy. No individual is truly invincible—evolution extends beyond the heavens themselves. The world is vast, merciless, and brimming with death.

Additional Insights

The protagonist is an anti-hero, not a psychopath. He will forge alliances, but weakness and foolishness have no place in this narrative. As the story unfolds, he will gradually attain omniscience—understanding the world as though he were its very creator. This underpins the novel's title.

Villains exist beyond the Shores—gods included. The universe is vast, encompassing realms, exorbitant creation, cultivation, gene-based evolution, and bloodline inheritances. Mystery pervades every aspect of the world.

The first volume, Starting Game, will feature concise paragraphs for a more immersive, fast-paced experience. From the second volume onwards, slight adjustments may be made.

Romance? Unlikely, at least in the early stages. However, if it emerges, it will be a defining element—compelling enough to convert even non-romance readers. No harem. No explicit content.

About the Discord server? Still undecided.

I actively read and engage with comments—especially those that pique my interest. Please keep discussions PG-13. Let's build a great community together!

See you in the comments.

Note: This novel, after receiving a contract offer, will enter a paywall following the completion of the first volume, which is expected to conclude around chapter 70 or 80. Lots of free chapters, perhaps.
