Chapter 127: Follow The Leader
The crowd of bandits stared at Yeltuna the Lioness in disbelief.
To see the woman who had just had her husband slain, thanking the murderer in front of the corpse was a sight that should not exist.
And yet it did.
Even Raphael was taken aback, as he looked at the woman, waiting for her to elaborate.
Slowly, Yeltuna walked over to the body of her husband and kneeled down next to the corpse.
The eyes of Olka were wide, as though he couldn't believe that he had died. Yeltuna used her fingers to shut them.
"Olka was growing weak." She spoke suddenly, words directed to anybody who wondered why she was thanking Raphael for his death. "None of you know what he spoke of behind closed doors. The Frozen Tribe would have been reduced to mere thieves if we allowed him to continue ruling."
A voice suddenly spoke up from the crowd, laced with accusations. "But that's what we are!" The man said. "Thieves and bandi-"
"That is not what we are!" Yeltuna shouted, frightening the man from his skin.
The woman rose to her feet. Her brown mane of messy hair flowed, enhancing her ferocity and giving her the appearance of a real lioness. Her grey eyes beamed over the crowd, addressing all members of the tribe.
"We are more than Bandits. We are a tribe, and we once had goals. Goals that were greater than plundering villagers travellers merchants. We were meant to strike establishments. People of power that will heighten our stance in the world."
Raphael listened to Yeltuna's words, wondering if she was any better than her husband.
Is she just another power-hungry leader that needs to be brought to death?
But as the woman shot him a sudden glance, a smile etching on her face, he decided to let her continue.
"And now," the Lioness said, gesturing towards the Dragon King. "We have a man who intends to build an army right in front of us. He can lead us into battle against other kings, queens and leaders. He can give us what we want!"
Sounds of murmured agreements shuffled through the crowd, as the tribe members began to see things from a different light.
"True power"
Battling against powerful forces would bring much greater rewards than mere village people and merchants.
The idea was satisfying, and as the woman continued speaking, Raphael saw an opportunity present itself before him.
These people are desperate for war. They desire the spoils of battle, and that will make them fight hard.
I can't think of a better group of people to start my army with. After all, that is why I returned to the north.
"What she says is true," Raphael spoke suddenly, gaining the attention of all tribe members. "If you want power, then following me is the best way to achieve it. But first, some things must be made clear."
He walked around the room as he spoke, as though addressing each and every person.
"First, it goes without saying that I am King of the North. If you stand in this region, you are under my rule. Whether that be lords, ladies, kings, queens or bandits. All will follow my rule without question."
He let the words hang in the air, to see if anybody had any objections.
Silence.
The Dragon King continued.
"Second, whilst you are under my rule, you will cease all banditry. The only time you'll do battle is when I command it. Follow these rules, and I will give you what you want."
The demands were simple and obvious. The Frozen Tribe members were lucky to even be given the opportunity.
If I wanted to, I could have burned them all down here and set their small village alight.
Yeltuna scratched at her chin, thinking over the man's demands before swiftly coming to a decision.
"Sounds good." She said with a shrug of the shoulders. "As I said, I see no better option for us in Vailstone. We will follow you so long as you give us a better life than we've already had."
Grunts of agreement came from the crowd, and Raphael found himself pleased with the outcome.
Only one life was lost.
"But..." Yeltuna continued. "Before we come with you, there is something else we must speak about. In private."
Raphael had no clue what the woman spoke of, but as she said the words, she made her way towards a door leading to a different room and disappeared inside of it.
Before following, Raphael ordered the members of the tribe to wait outside.
For a reason unknown to him they all had blushed grins on their faces.
Ignoring them for now, Raphael made his way over to the room and entered.
---
To Raphael's surprise, the room was empty.
Not only that, but it was small and hot. All that lay on the floor was a rug which seemed to act as a resting place of some sort.
After being surrounded by luxury, such a room was strange to Raphael, but he was far from unfamiliar with it, due to his southern upbringing.
On the other side of the room, Yeltuna had her back facing towards him. But just as he was about to speak to her, her Lion pelt fell from her shoulders, revealing a brown ragged dress beneath.
The dress was tight, revealing the curvature of her body, but only seconds after taking off the lion pelt, she took off her dress as well.
The woman was stark naked beneath, wearing no further undergarments to cover herself.
Raphael was given a sight of her entire body.
Despite her strong, gritty outer shell, underneath her clothing, the woman was soft, unscarred, and slender.
She had a slight arch to her back, which led down to her pale, round behind.
Then, the woman turned to face Raphael, not caring to cover her body from him. Her breasts were large enough, and her waist was slender. Her pink nipples stared at him invitingly, as did her eyes, which rested atop a smirk.
I'm not sure what's going on, but I like where things are going.
