Chapter 118: Father's Killer
"We must unite the six schools, and I'd like them all to be under my rule."
For a few moments, there was only silence in the room, until Persephone spoke up.
"Under your rule? You think we would just accept that?" She said in a raised tone, looking between the other queens to find comrades.
But to her surprise, none of them seemed to share her defiance.
Harmony and Maria looked happy with the idea, whilst Cecilia looked neutral.
Her eyes fell on Rosalind, the cloud queen. A woman she knew had not yet been fucked by Raphael.
Even her.
Rosalind shrugged her shoulders.
"If we united the six schools, it would only make sense for Raphael to rule over us. After all, he had achieved something that none of us could ever dream of." Harmony butted in, supporting Raphael.
Maria nodded her head in agreement. "Not only did he kill Emperor Joshua Brunell, but he has also claimed the North as his own. He is now above the schools."
Persephone suddenly rose from her seat aggressively, her cheeks flushed with anger.
"Nobody is above the schools! What sort of queens are you?"
Before anyone could reply, the Crown Queen stormed from the room, her golden hair flowing behind her.
Once gone, those in the room looked at each other.
"Well," Harmony started. "She's certainly against the idea."
Raphael looked at Rosalind. The cloud queen wearing all white, a questioning expression on his face.
"How do you feel about uniting the schools?" He asked her, hoping for better luck.
Rosalind hugged her knees up to her chest, a shy look on her cute face. As she did, he was given a sight of her red panties beneath her white dress.
"I-I don't mind. If the others agree, then I'm happy to follow. You're obviously strong enough."
The other queens nodded their heads.
"He certainly is." Cecilia, the sword queen said, speaking for the first time. "But if Persephone does not agree to unite the schools, then we can't. The decision needs to be unanimous."
The Dragon King scratched at his chin, realising how close he was to achieving the first goal that he set for himself. Yet still, a large obstacle stood in his way.
"What can you tell me about the Crown Queen?" He asked, trying to gain information he could use to help him.
It was Rosalind who spoke up, as she knew the queen the best.
"Persephone has always had a... Short temper. Ever since her father was killed, things have been that way." The woman explained.
"Who was her father?" Raphael asked. He had never known this about her.
Rosalind face seemed to fill with surprise, as did some of the other queens.
"You really don't know? Her father was Sir Daniel. Founder of the five schools."
---
The meeting swiftly ended after Persephone left, as Raphael had the beginnings of a plan forming in his mind.
As he travelled through the school gardens, the crown on his head, students stopped and stared at him in awe.
In such a short time, he had become even more of an impressive figure than the Five Queens.
The only difference was, he was a king.
He made his way to his destination, the Crown Queen office, and knocked on the door.
After receiving no answer he knocked again.
"It's the Dragon King."
Still nothing.
For a moment, he thought she might not be there, but before turning to leave he heard the woman's voice calling for him to enter.
Raphael stepped inside.
He found Persephone staring out of the window, down into the school gardens. Her eyes lingered on her students, watching them as they went about their business.
It was obvious that she was not in a good mood. But rather than anger, it seemed to be sadness.
Our meeting must have brought back memories of her and her father.
Raphael made his way over to a chair and sat on it, allowing the two to remain in silence for a few moments.
Once he felt like he had waited long enough, he asked the woman a question.
"Who killed your father?"
To Persephone, the question seemingly came out of nowhere, taking her by surprise.
But as she turned her head towards the Dragon King, she noticed an expression on his face. One of...
Anger?
The queen let out a deep sigh, as she sat atop her desk.
"Nobody knows." She answered, disappointment clear in her voice. "During a journey to the west, which was supposed to be only a week, ended up becoming a month. No one had any clues as to where he was, as he told nobody about the details, only that he would be back soon. We contacted King Diotames, who ruled the western region, but he said that he had no idea either."
Persephone paused her story for a moment, the next detail clearly bothering her.
Then, she continued.
"Only his crown was sent back to us. By a messenger that nobody managed to see. His body was never found, but it was clear what had happened."
A tear fell from the woman's eyes, and Raphael couldn't help but feel sorry for her.
Despite her strong personality, when speaking about her father, the woman had a soft look at her. Raphael yearned to comfort her, but they were not on such terms.
Not yet.
"What was he like."
Persephone looked up at Raphael's, tears still streaming down her face.
"Your father. What was he like?"
A wave of memories flashed through the crown queen's mind, spreading a smile across her face.
"Strong. He was incredibly strong. I hate to admit it, but in a way, he was like you." The woman said with a light chuckle.
Raphael flashed her a smile of his own, not caring to hide his pride at the compliment.
"What was his birthright? It must have been something special if you're comparing him to me." He joked, earning a laugh from Persephone.
"Even your Birthrights were similar."
Raphael paused for a moment, looking at the woman with a confused expression, which she didn't seem to notice.
"He had flames and was a master with them. No one was supposed to be able to defeat him. Whoever took his life, must have used foul play to do so."
Raphael's eyes widened. Only one word in the sentence stood out to him.
Flames.
An unsettling feeling began to spread through Raphael's body.
How had I never heard of this?
"Tell me more about them. His flames." He asked, trying to hide his deeper feelings.
Thinking that the man was just being curious, Persephone elaborated.
"My father mastered the flames just as you had. However, his was only one colour."
Raphael stared closely at the woman, waiting for her to continue.
"They were golden."
The word crashed into Raphael like a boulder.
Golden flames... The founder of the five schools was the one who wielded the golden dragon.
He figured out one of the missing identities, but according to the man's daughter, he was dead.
This meant that whoever killed him...
It was as though pieces of a puzzle started falling into place. Raphael racked his mind, going over the information that he now knew.
Saint Michael said that the Dunkelwacht has a man in their ranks who calls himself God of the Flames. It was highly likely that the man held one of the remaining dragons.
The Angel also spoke of the location of the Dunkelwacht.
A volcanic island to the West.
The same direction where the founder, Sir Daniel was headed.
Could it be...
Was the man killed by the god of flames?
Does he have the same goals as me? To collect the five dragons?
"Thank you for coming to see me, and listening to me speak." Persephone suddenly said with softness in her voice, interrupting Raphael's thoughts. "I hardly deserve it because of how I acted before... In the meeting."
The woman fiddled with her long straight golden hair, looking at the ground nervously. She clearly was not used to giving apologies.
Raphael rose from his seat and walked over to the woman. She didn't hear his footsteps, so she was caught by surprise as he placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
It was a risk, but he needed to breach the gap between them somehow.
"It's fine, I understand now why you're sensitive about someone uniting the schools." He said, looking into the woman's golden eyes. "If I knew who your father was, I wouldn't have suggested such a thing so soon."
A look of surprise spread across the woman's face, taken aback by the Dragon King's comforting words.
At that moment, she came to realise what the others saw in the man.
"More importantly, I think I might be able to do you a favour," Raphael said, removing his hand and making his way towards the door. "I think I may know who killed your father. It's only a theory, but if true, vengeance will be brought upon them. Do not worry."
Persephone was left speechless.
My father's killer...
She sat there in disbelief watching the Dragon King make his way towards the door, a strange air to him. One of anger.
"Once confirmed, I will come and talk to you again. But until then, hold tight."
