Chapter 67: A cry for help
That morning Yohan was woken up by three small knocks on his room door, when he opened it,
"Uncle?" his brow raised slightly
"Yes," his uncle said calmly, a little too calmly.
"Is anything the problem?" he asked.
His uncle cleared his throat awkwardly, "I was wondering if we could have an important talk before you go to work,"
"Okay," Yohan said, stepping out of the room.
'What could he possibly want?' he wondered. His uncle, the small lanky man, was fully dressed for work with a button down shirt and brown trousers.
He wasn't smiling, in fact it seemed like he was even a little bit tense as he took a seat opposite Yohan at the dining table.
Although Yohan could see the underlying empty sadness in his eyes, combined with the pathetic hopeless expression he wore, he hardly felt any pity for his uncle.
'He's handling it better than I expected, I have hardly even heard his voice since yesterday'
The grief his uncle carried was brought upon by his own choices, even though Yohan hadn't warned him he would have one way or another ended up in this position.
His uncle sat there, quiet for a few seconds,
"Yohan," he sighed, "The truth is that something happened, the Riverway stock went down and your uncle lost everything in that trade,"
Yohan pretended to be surprised, "Everything? How?!"
"I mean everything, I took out a loan on the house to invest. So we are about to even go homeless,"
Yohan continued to act surprised, while his uncle looked at him with a very serious expression.
"The truth is that, right now you are the only one who can save us," he said.
"Me? How?" Yohan wondered.
"We have to sell the massage parlor, so we can use the money to pay of the debt,"
Yohan chuckled, "what do you mean, I already told you-"
"Listen to me! This is the time for you to put your sentimental values aside and do what is best for this family. Do you want your aunt and cousin to sleep on the streets, homeless?"
"Uncle you can't be serious…" Yohan stopped smiling with his uncle,
"A few days ago you were ready to kick me out of your house, you told me I wasn't part of this family, now you want me to sell my parents legacy to save your family?"
His uncle could see that Yohan wasn't joking as he spoke, beads of sweat had already gathered on his head.
"Y-you know, I didn't mean all those things in the literal sense. I was only saying that to remind you that you are a man with responsibilities, responsibilities such as this. Sometimes you have to look past things like that for the greater good,"
"Yohan I really wasn't going to kick you out, I promise. Why would I throw my brothers only son out into the street," by now tears were starting to stream down his face, it was clear that Yohan was certainly his last hope
With the way he was crying Yohan would have actually believed him if he hadn't actually thrown him out before. In the future his uncle literally threw him out into the street, with nothing but the clothes he had on.
To be honest Yohan wasn't too mad at it right now. It was his house, and if he decides not to let another man stay there, it is his choice.
It doesn't even matter if this man was his own brother's only son, he only promised to help, it's not like he was actually going to turn into his father. He is allowed to go back on his word and do whatever he likes.
Kicking Yohan out of his house was well within his rights, it was his house after all. But now using that same mentality meant that Yohan wasn't entitled to help.
It was his decision and not his responsibility, just like he was never his uncle's responsibility.
'I could just give him the money to pay off his debt but where is the fun in that?'
He wasn't moved one bit by his uncle's tears.
In his past life he was the one begging and crying not to be kicked out, but his uncle didn't even listen. Even when he said he had nowhere else to go, he didn't even bat an eye.
'In a way this is what you call the law of perfect karma, what better revenge than to watch you get kicked out of the exact same house'
'I might actually get to be the one to kick you out, after I buy the place' he chuckled internally before standing to his feet,
"Uncle I'm sorry but I can't help you, I suggest you should find someone else to cry to," he said as he returned to his room.
"You little rat, after all I've done for you?!" He screamed at him, "Is this how you want to repay me? I took you in, I clothed and fed you for more than two years now and this is what I get in return?"
"Think of your cousin and your Aunt, don't you give a fuck about anybody but yourself? If I knew you were this greedy I would have kicked you out a long time ago! Fucking ungrateful piece of shit," he cursed
Yohan ignored his words and entered his room.
"Why is he throwing a tantrum like a child? Does he think that would magically convince me to sell my parents' legacy?"
If Yohan didn't have any money or any memory of the future he probably would have rushed to help out his uncle and in the end his uncle would still have kicked him out of the house eventually.
Yohan wanted to believe that he could throw his family out of their own house but the truth is that there were still his family, even if they weren't actually related by blood, Aunt Vivian and Cassie were still the only family he had left, along with his uncle.
He has the money and he could easily help, so it wouldn't be fair to them.
He sighed, wrestling with himself. Would he help the bastard that stole the little his parents had left for him, or would he use this opportunity to get his revenge.
