Chapter 89: Running Away from Cavalry NPCs
"They are using horses, these bastards!" he cursed as if they decided to follow up his trail to here, he would be doomed!
The distance between him and the exit of this road needed at least one hour, and currently he had widened the gap between him and his pursuers to be more than forty minutes at least.
However, this was considering they would move on foot, not on horses!
"Screw you system! If you hate dark agents like me this bad, why the hell is there such a class and such quests?!!!" he shouted out loud, trying to vent his anger. He pushed up his pace as hard as he could, while he kept track of the movements of the NPC army far behind.
The moment they reached the caravan, they stopped there, not moving for a while. this made him breathe a sigh of relief, however after ten minutes they started to move, however dispersed in different ways.
Half stayed at the caravan, seemingly guarding what was left of it. One fourth headed to the sides, while the last fourth started heading his way.
He gritted his teeth. He needed at least forty minutes to exit this road, and he had one hour distance from the caravan, on foot.
He prayed they would stand every now and then to check his location, but they didn't! as he was already in this grave danger, his evil mind started giving him more solutions.
"Good, let's see how you will catch me then," he laughed as he took out one of the potions he took from the treasure chest and threw it on the side of the road.
He then went forward, and every five minutes he ditched one bottle, one NPC gear, and even a few gold coins!
He didn't have time to check what he was throwing, and he just hoped they wouldn't be this huge loss to him, however his life was the most important thing now.
For thirty minutes he kept ditching these items. His ferocious NPCs were about to reach the first location he threw a potion there. He stopped what he was doing, as he needed just ten minutes to be out of here, then a few more minutes to find a place good enough for him to hide.
He nervously watched the small red dot moving towards the place he threw a potion there, with heart racing beats.
"Yeah!!!"
He shouted, raising both hands in the air, celebrating the success of his trap. They stopped moving, as they stayed there for five more minutes, before moving again. the next thing he dropped was a useless shield, as he wasn't a shield bearer class, so he ditched it.
As they reached there, they stopped, for a longer duration this time, exceeding full ten minutes, allowing him to finally exit the road.
"Let's hurry and find a place suited to hide," he muttered, while glancing around in a hurry, looking for a place to save his neck from prison at.
There were three things in front of his wide view of the whole world; a road, a forest, and a wooden shack.
"The forest then," he said, but as he was about to move, his mind suggested something, so he changed direction, scattering some items in the road for ten minutes, before returning again, hurrying to hide behind a large tree.
This was a very vast world, and he hid just hundreds of meters away from the road. He glanced at the red dot to find it only two more items away from coming here.
"Let's cancel this disguise then," he muttered, as he opened his character profile, chose his lizard gear, read the conditions and then softly muttered:
"Reverse disguise skill and pay one hundred and twenty gold coins to instantly reset it."
"System alert: the skill is still in cooldown, can't be reversed until the cooldown is off."
"You are kidding me, right? Is this the time to care for the order of my commands?!!!" he took deep breaths to calm himself, before saying, while words came out of his gritted teeth:
"Pay one hundred and twenty gold coins to reset the disguise skill cooldown, then reverse the skill… please!"
He wasn't absolutely no sincere in his tone or intention, however the system replied, while his shape started to return to his usual thinner and shorter form:
"System alert: One hundred and twenty gold coins were deducted from the player's account."
In less than a minute, the disguise he had was cancelled, and another system prompt kicked in.
"System alert: Disguise skill has been reversed successfully. Does the player wish to store the details of the Sunny character for future disguises?"
Bloom eye twitched while he muttered with complete shock:
"On which side are you, light or dark? Huh? Sigh, forget it, you are a mere data and stupid system after all. Just keep it!"
He was frustrated from the shamelessness of this system, as it was trying hard to waste time here so the NPC could come and spot him.
"…"
He then ducked under the tree, while glancing from time to time around him, just in case some monster would be funny enough to attack him from the back.
After all he was in a forest, outside the village territory. As there were a couple of minutes left until these NPCs would come here, he tried to activate a ticket but again the system told him about his inability to do so.
"So I'm stuck here waiting like a chicken in a barn!" he shook his head lamenting the system abuse towards him. in minutes a large group of NPCs finally appeared in sight, looking angry, wielding their weapons and raising their shields high.
They were riding big horses, like the ones he got from the two cavalries, and that made him realize how strong this group of thirty NPCs were.
"If I got caught, I would be doomed," he reached this conclusion quickly, knowing how hard it was for him to escape this if got seen.
