Chapter 55: Two Curses and A compensation



"System alert: Player has killed the esteemed elder of the shrine of death. Player is now considered an enemy to the entire shrine of death! Beware that any player or NPC has been informed by the player's name, and any agent of the shrine of death in the vicinity of a village radius from the player will be notified by players coordinates once per day."

"System alert: Player has been cursed by an esteemed elder of the shrine of death. Player has to absorb the death souls equal to double his level daily, or else his stats will be subjected to a curse of decreasing fifty percent."

"System alert: Player has completed the esteemed elder of shrine of life quest. As the elder had already backstabbed the player, the player had to kill the elder so he could gain a special vengeance reward back."

2. Player has to steal something from a player one time at least… Player got the gold ranking.

3. Player has to trick other players, acquire things belonging to the team and make them his… Player got the silver ranking.

4. Player has to kill one NPC at least… Player got the black ranking.

5. Player has to steal from one NPC at least… Player got the red ranking.

6. Player has to trick one NPC at least, and acquire something belonging to him without his knowledge… Player got the blue ranking.

7. Player has to kill one hundred players… Player got the white ranking.

8. Player has to do this before reaching level ten… Player got the blue ranking."

"System alert: the final ranking of the secret class quest is gold ranking."

"System alert: Player has unlocked the bandit secret class, the shadow bandit."

"System alert: Player has gained the chance to unlock three more skills specific to the secret class skill tree."

"System alert: Player has gained the chance to unlock two talents specific to the secret class talent tree."

"System alert: Player has unlocked the special quest system of the secret class, shadow bandit."

Bloom glanced at all these alerts with a dazed look, and a shocked expression on his face. The part that greatly mattered to him the most now was the curses he had been exposed to, and luckily he got a chance to get rid of one of them.

But just as he was about to cancel that curse, he suddenly had an idea, as he reread the system alert again, thinking deeply about it.

"System alert: Player has managed to kill the esteemed elder of the shrine of life, completing the vengeful quest. As a reward, the player will gain a chance to change any curses coming from the shrine of life in the way it seems fit to him."

"So I can alter it, right?" he muttered before trying to give it a try. "I want to change the curse of the elder of shrine of life," he said.

"System alert: Player has a curse laid on him by the vengeful soul of the elder of the shrine of life."

"System alert: Player has the right to change the curse he had."

"System alert: Player can state what he wants to do with the curse, either altering it, weakening it, strengthening it, or permanently removing it."

"As I thought!" the eyes of Bloom shone brightly as he made up his mind. "I want to alter it. Make the curse that every time I absorb a death soul, my stats increase by it," he said.

He had a curse he couldn't eliminate, so he was forced to abide by its rules. Death souls mentioned here is just a reference to the souls of players after getting killed.

Simply put, he had to kill players! As for the shrine of life curse, it required him to kill NPCs, something that could cause great problems to him in the future.

So, he decided to turn this curse into a blessing! If he had to kill players and absorb their souls after death, then it would be awesome if he could get some benefits in return!

As for those poor players, they would remain unable to log in the game for at least a couple of days, and when they would re-enter the game, they would be subjected to a penalty to their stats, resembling that of the weakening state monsters got after activating their ultimate skills.

Bloom didn't care about players, and now he had to kill about the same number of his level daily. He was now level eleven, so he had to kill eleven players daily.

"System alert: Player has chosen to alter the curse of an esteemed elder of the shrine of life."

"System alert: the changes will be as follows: each time a player absorbs one death soul, one of his stats will rise three points randomly for a day. Player can specify certain stats to gain this rise, not exceeding two stats, and gain two points only, one to each stat, active for one day. Does the player concede to this?"

Bloom was about to agree, as this was really above his expectations, however he hesitated, before asking:

"Can I add another thing?"

"System alert: Player can add anything, and the game system will judge."

"Even if I want to alter the death shrine elder's curse?" he asked.
