Chapter 27: Falling into A Trap: The Dungeon Got Evolved!
Freakily high damages appeared on top of four monsters he stabbed. Blessed with Peri's luck, he had two crits out of four hits. These huge damages were enough to make him able to kill the monsters in two hits, barely exerting any effort at all.
The others, however, got a scare from these numbers, which was enough to single kill these four monsters. Bloom didn't stop there, as he went to Gored's side to help him, while using three stabs at a row, causing the remaining monsters to fall.
"Wow, these damages are really insane!" Peri exclaimed out in shock, while Bloom just shrugged his shoulders, leaned on one monster body while saying:
"Each one will have one monster at a time to harvest. If you don't have any this round, you will get one each round inside."
Everyone nodded, while all started to collect materials while Gored and Peri were left out with no monster to harvest. They both were curious about Bloom's sudden high damage. If they didn't know for sure his true level through the team stats, they would have thought his level was much higher than this.
The only change he had were these two swords, which looked quite ordinary from the surface, but they were sure they weren't the same swords Bloom used when he fought with them at the previous dungeon.
However, none of them opened his mouth and asked Bloom about this, as they all knew this was considered part of any player's secrets.
In a few minutes they were all done. This was their first time using the collecting skill, so they felt the huge change between collecting materials before and after learning the skill.
"Let's go inside, and we will follow the same formation," Bloom said, as he walked towards the entrance of the dungeon with them. the moment they entered the dungeon, they were welcomed by the dim nature of it, making them all sigh in regret for not having an assassin in the team.
However they all knew how many monsters would be there, and so they moved, with much confidence, towards the front, fearing nothing at all.
"Roar!"
Suddenly this wild roar erupted from the depth of the dungeon, shaking every single piece of it. everyone stopped, unaware of what was going on, all except one, whose face showed extreme shock.
"How can this dungeon suddenly mutate?" he muttered with disbelief, as this roar, with this strong shocking to the entire dungeon, had only meaning in this game.
The boss monster of this dungeon had successfully evolved, and with that all the dungeon evolved with it!
It was too late to retreat now, as once entered the dungeon, no one could exit it except by one of the two ways, death or clearing it.
"Bloom, do you know what is happening?" Peri hurried to ask, as her gaze was always attracted to him. Bloom didn't reply to her, as his mind was busy with something else.
'If this dungeon was evolving, then the walls should change color. The color would determine the scope of this evolution,' he thought to himself, while trying to deny the obvious.
Just as he thought of it, the walls of this dungeon changed color to become red, bright red that turned everything around them to be red in color, even their gears as well.
"No f*cking way!" Bloom blurted out, with much more disbelief, with a tinge of anger in his tone.
'You want to hinder my progress?' he thought, angrily thinking about the developers' trap for him. it was widely known that the developers would interfere, changing the rules of the game for a bit, so no single player would reign supreme over their game.
This constant fine tuning had great merit in making the game reach its undisputed place in his past life. and now, he was the victim of this same silly tuning of those developers.
'Screw you,' he angrily cursed them. The evolution of this dungeon was much bigger than what he initially thought. Normal dungeons were white in color, while higher colors would be green, blue, silver, gold, red, and finally black.
The evolution was red in color, which meant the monster had skipped four higher ranks, ending up in the red rank.
Red was dead, that was a famous saying about the ranking of the dungeons! Each higher up rank would boost monsters' stat by fifty percent. That meant these easy to kill monsters had turned from cats to tigers, and this all was done just to stop him.
'Did they eavesdrop on my talk with that elder?' he thought to himself, however he couldn't tell anything as he didn't have any data at all!
"Bloom, what is going on?" Gored asked, as he and everyone else had noticed the change on his face. He was angry, so much angry, and that was easily spotted on his face.
Bloom just took a helpless deep breath, as all these thoughts in his mind had no value now. He was targeted, for whatever reason, and now he had two choices in front of him, either to submit and die once, losing one level in that, or fight and try to clear this dungeon.
He suddenly recalled the rewards, and patted his forehead. He was able to clear this dungeon faster than any other team, which meant he would gain another system reward, which would topple the balanced planning of the developers.
'So this is it then,' he thought to himself while having a long sigh of relief. If his intentions were discovered by them, then his life would be hell from now on.
However, as thy issue was only related to the rewards, the problem wasn't severe as he initially thought!
"It's an evolution for the dungeon," he finally spoke up, "as you can see, it's a red dungeon, which is considered as one of the highest ranked dungeons in the entire game," he added, with much confidence not worry.
"D-Does that mean the monsters inside evolved too?" Peri asked, with some fear in her tone.
"Unfortunately yes," he said with real sorrow.
"But why?" the wizard asked.
"Because we are this close to get the next reward of clearing the dungeon, and thus the developers interfered and made it impossible for us to clear it," he explained, "reason isn't important," he added, "and as we are inside the dungeon, we have only two ways ahead of us, you all know that," he stated the known facts to all of them.
"Do you plan to clear this dungeon?" Gored asked, with disbelief. If it was up to him, then he would rather be killed and leave here instead of trying to clear the dungeon. This was simply madness in his opinion.
