Chapter 451
Early morning.
“We’ve arrived.”
“Ugh… it’s really early.”
I took a ride in the car driven by Park Kang-seok and came to the Drama Studio after a long time.
I came because I was told there was something important to discuss.
Usually, news would come through messages, but this time it felt like we needed to see each other face to face.
“By the way, do you have any idea what it’s about?”
“Well… in these cases, it’s usually either really good or really bad news.”
“…uh.”
Saying that made me uneasy.
The last thing I heard was that filming for Season 1 was almost finished.
I couldn’t figure out why they wanted to talk face to face all of a sudden.
Still, with some hope that nothing too serious had happened, I stepped into the studio.
“Oh, Soo-hyun! This way, please.”
As I walked in, a staff member immediately guided me.
Hmm… their expression seems a bit stiff.
Or maybe I’m just imagining things?
In fact, I was going to hear some great news, but now I was unnecessarily tense.
Surely nothing big could happen suddenly.
Maybe they received more investment, or perhaps they’re speeding up preparations for Season 2 filming.
Or maybe it was something to dramatically increase the fees for actor Kim Soo-hyun now that he had gained some recognition.
With those happy thoughts in mind, I headed to meet the director in the studio.
Later.
“…You’re saying Season 2 is delayed?”
I received shockingly bad news from the director, who looked more exhausted than usual.
“Yes… it turned out this way…”
What the heck…?
Season 2 filming is postponed.
Why did I even bother working out?
Of course, my health has improved… but it feels like my motivation has taken a hit.
…Should I take a break from the gym tomorrow?
No, no, I need to find out the reason first.
“Why…?”
Wasn’t filming going smoothly?
Weren’t we riding high on the financial power of a foreign OTT company?
“Well… Actor Choi Hoon-seok had an accident while filming.”
“Ah….”
I paused briefly, trying to remember who Actor Choi Hoon-seok was, and then it clicked.
He was the lead in this drama.
“Is he alright…?”
“Yes… it’s not a severe accident, but he needs ankle surgery.”
“Ah….”
…That makes sense.
When I saw the script, that last scene of Season 1 did seem a bit intense.
Normally, a stuntman would handle those situations, but it seems the actor was overly enthusiastic.
“How long will it take…?”
“Considering the surgery and rehabilitation… I think it will be around mid-next year.”
“Ah.”
Well, it’s not a huge delay.
I thought it would push things back for years due to surgery and rehab, but that timeline seems manageable.
It may look bad compared to the initial schedule, but it shouldn’t be too much of a delay compared to the start.
Well… maybe the only issue will be my schedule.
I initially thought I would finish the festival performance and then shoot some variety shows or ads before jumping straight into Season 2, but I never expected my schedule would get tangled like this.
“…I even worked out in advance.”
“I’m really sorry….”
“Do you see this? This is proof of my hard work.”
I proudly pointed to my arms, but to be honest, there wasn’t much difference from before.
I hadn’t built significant muscle.
“Ah, yes… I’ve heard you’ve been exercising a lot.”
The director nodded, seemingly aware of my workout progress.
Hmm… it’s awkward to say more.
Honestly, I felt the director might be the one struggling the most in this situation.
Anyway, after casually boasting for a bit, I offered some words of consolation to the director and left the studio.
“What happened?”
As I stepped outside, Park Kang-seok, who had been waiting due to parking issues, immediately asked about the news.
“They say the filming schedule is delayed. What should we do?”
“Oh, it was indeed a delay.”
“Yes, but they say Season 1 will air as scheduled.”
Given the delay for Season 2, I was curious about Season 1, but according to the director, Season 1 was still on track to air.
I heard that only the action scenes were left to shoot, and they used a stuntman for that.
…It’s a shame that only the actor suffered, but there’s nothing that can be done now.
Season 1 should air as planned, right?
I heard that we might all visit the actor in the hospital later and thought maybe I should sneak in a gift then.
“Hmm, it’s a relief that it’s not a long delay.”
I passed on the detailed situation to Park Kang-seok.
Everything from how long the delay would be to the production status.
I knew little about such matters, so I conveyed what I heard from the director, and he nodded, understanding.
“What should I do now?”
“Since there’s no real problem, how about trying out for another role while you have the time?”
“Huh? Another role?”
“Since you have some spare time now.”
…Another role?
Hmm, hmm…
“Is there anything suitable?”
I’ve been working out, so my stamina’s improved.
After the festival performance, I would have some free time.
In that case, I could take on a supporting role, as Park Kang-seok suggested.
“With your current status, securing a role shouldn’t be an issue.”
“Then… can you look for something with action scenes?”
“…Action scenes?”
“Yes, I’d prefer a supporting role since the lead might be overwhelming.”
That way, I would stay motivated to work out.
Season 2 is going to have plenty of action scenes, after all.
It might be good to gain experience by doing a supporting role in another project beforehand.
“I’ll see about that supporting role.”
“Yes, please find a fun role if possible.”
And I might as well ask for a fun character while I’m at it.
I prefer genres that are tense and thrilling over something like a melodrama.
“I’ll look into it.”
With that request, Park Kang-seok thought for a moment before nodding.
…Honestly, I’m not expecting him to find something right away, but since it’s Park Kang-seok, maybe he’ll bring back something.
“Let’s head back now.”
“Okay.”
With all tasks completed, I got back in the car and we headed out of the studio.
“By the way, Soo-hyun, about the costumes we discussed last time…”
As we were driving, Park Kang-seok brought up work-related topics as usual.
“Oh, right.”
“I wanted to ask you how you’d like to change them.”
“Well, hmm….”
It seemed he was thinking about modifying the festival costumes as I requested…
I took a moment to ponder the festival attire.
“I’ll make the top a bit tighter, so maybe make the bottoms looser?”
“That sounds good.”
If the previous outfit was too floaty, I’d like to go for a more hip vibe.
That would actually suit me better.
Plus, since I’m leading a band, it’d be proper to dress like one.
This way, it would also make it easier for the band members to match their outfits.
In the end, I guess I’d still need to head to the department store for color coordination.
Well, if I pass it along, Ah-young will probably sort it out nicely.
“By the way, I’m considering the performance I’ll be doing on stage…”
Anyway, the delay in Season 2 filming was now a done deal, and while discussing the upcoming festival, we made our way to Hyeon-su’s Workshop.
**
A few days after returning from the studio.
“Nice to see you.”
“Yes, please buckle your seatbelt.”
Today, I hopped into the car, greeting Park Kang-seok as usual.
I’ve gotten pretty familiar with this car.
The feeling of the seats, the air inside…
And the paper on the armrest…
“Oh, what’s this?”
What’s that? Normally, Park Kang-seok keeps it neat with no items around.
“Oh, that’s the script for the role I brought.”
“The role?”
“Yes, you wanted to try for one last time, right?”
Ah, I do remember mentioning that I wanted to try for a role the day we went to the studio…
“You got this already?”
“Yes, take your time to look it over during the drive. You’ll probably like it.”
How impressive that he brought the script so soon.
Also, unlike before when I had to choose, it seemed he brought just one script.
“What is it… um….”
Curiosity about what role it could be that Park Kang-seok confidently presents me with…
“…When is this filming?”
Upon seeing the title, my heart began to race.
Now I understand why Park Kang-seok brought it.
“I believe your part will be filmed in the fall, around winter.”
“Sounds perfect, doesn’t it?”
By that time, it would be right after the festival performance when I’d be free to relax.
“I’d love to do this more.”
I said that while checking the genre listed beneath the title.
[Survival, Zombie, Apocalypse.]
To my surprise, the script Park Kang-seok brought was for a zombie drama.
How did he know I liked zombies…? Although I suppose he must have known since we talked about it with Moon Chang-sik at the café last time.
“You found a great script.”
“Oh, I didn’t find it. I received it yesterday.”
“…Received it?”
I thought Park Kang-seok had secured it, but he received it instead.
“It seems news of the Season 2 delay spread, and the drama production team reached out to see if you’d be interested.”
“Oh, they contacted us directly? Wow….”
The moment they heard the rumors, they reached out… they must really be keen on me.
Seeing it this way makes me even more excited.
“Flip to the next page. It has your character details and lines too. Take a look.”
“Sure, let’s see.”
Well, if the drama interests me, the role is vital too.
But since they picked me, the role should fit me, right?
Thinking that, I eagerly turned to the next page.
But then….
“Uh… is this really the role I’m taking?”
“What do you think?”
After turning the page and seeing my character information, I felt a bit off.
“How old do they think I am?”
“When did you graduate again?”
“…Four years ago.”
I replied while scanning through my character’s information again.
Everything else seemed fine but…
My gaze landed on the part where the name and age were written.
[Lee Yeon-ah, 18 years old]
…Eighteen years old.
I’m going to be playing a high school girl at this age.
