Chapter 226
I decided to feature a track by Lee Kang-jun, but it won’t be happening right away.
First, a song needs to be created, right?
Lee Kang-jun mentioned he just started working on it, so it will probably be some time before I get to feature on it.
Besides, I have my own things to take care of.
“Here it is.”
We’re diving straight into the recording.
Typically, we’d head over to the Composer’s workshop or Hyeon-su’s Workshop, but this time, I rented separate facilities.
“You found a good place to rent, huh?”
“Right?”
“Yeah, must’ve cost quite a bit.”
And on the way here, I brought along a few members of the Miro Family team.
Well, it’s just Lee Seo-yeon and Jeong-hoon, but still.
Lee Kang-jun is holed up making a new song, and Loa and Harbin are those “mysterious” virtual tubers, right?
As for me, that’s one thing, but the other two from the Celestial Realm probably won’t actually meet other members of the Miro Family.
“By the way, the song was completed faster than I expected.”
“Right? It was surprisingly quick.”
While chatting with Lee Seo-yeon, I noticed Jeong-hoon was unusually quiet.
Ever since he heard that Lee Kang-jun already finished the song, he seemed a little down.
Well, it makes sense; he’s been tinkering away while someone else has already wrapped it up.
Add to that, the song is good, which would make him even more worried.
I thought about offering him help, considering his age… but let him overcome it on his own.
It would be a good experience for him later.
“Speaking of which, I’m excited about the recording.”
“Oh really?”
“Yeah, I wrote most of the lyrics.”
“Ah, I see.”
No wonder; the lyrics felt a bit unique for a ballad, turns out Lee Seo-yeon wrote them?
Unlike the usual ballads that heavily focus on love or breakups, this new song centers around loneliness and solitude.
She probably wrote the lyrics imagining me broadcasting alone in a soundproof booth, right?
…I don’t feel that lonely or solitary, though, so maybe there’s a misunderstanding.
“Well, let’s start the recording, so please take care of it.”
Anyway, that aside, it’s time to get this recording underway.
“Sure!”
“Jeong-hoon? You need to respond.”
“Uh… sure….”
“Gotta keep an eye on them.”
I didn’t bring these people along for nothing.
When I record, they need to watch over it, right?
Of course, the final version will be checked by Lee Kang-jun, but still, these two are like a first filter.
Lee Seo-yeon will oversee the lyrics and emotional aspects, while Jeong-hoon will keep an eye on the notes and rhythm.
With that, we kicked off the proper recording.
I wasn’t worried about the recording at all.
Maybe it’s because Lee Kang-jun does a great job with guide vocals, but it didn’t seem that difficult, especially since I’m no longer that Miro from back in the day.
I thought I could breeze through something like this…
“How does it sound?”
“Sounds good!”
After just a few tweaks, we passed smoothly.
“Shall we go with this?”
“Yeah, I think it’s good. You did a great job.”
The recording took less than an hour, and while I felt glad about that, I also sensed a bit of regret.
Do I still need someone to give feedback right now?
In moments like this, I find myself missing Hyeon-su or the Composer, who would always find the gaps to poke at.
Recalling those few hours of recording gave me chills, though.
Anyway, the recording is done, and I decided to ask Lee Soo-yeon’s acquaintance for mixing.
After all, in this line of work, connections are everything.
So now, I just need to think about how and when to release it?
The song is ready, but I’m still considering the method and date of the release, which is a bit tricky.
It would be nice to have a simple music video made since I have to upload it to music sites, and of course, YouTube, which is basically the main platform.
I could outsource it, or I could just whip up a simple illustration myself.
Since I still dabble in drawing occasionally, I might actually do a better job than paying someone else.
Actually, in most cases, that would be true.
I am very confident when it comes to drawing.
Lost in these thoughts, I sank into the sofa set up in the recording studio, and Lee Seo-yeon handed me a water bottle.
“Ah, thank you.”
As I opened the bottle and took a sip, Lee Seo-yeon cautiously sat down next to me.
“By the way, how are things going with Loa and Harbin?”
She cautiously asked, clearly concerned about those two.
I thought she wasn’t bothered by it since she hadn’t mentioned anything, but maybe she was actually curious?
After all, even though those two are making a track, Lee Seo-yeon has to look after the lyrics, so it makes sense she’d be concerned.
“Yeah, well… they said they’re getting closer.”
Honestly, I don’t have high expectations for the progress of their song.
They need to become a bit closer to each other anyway, and I don’t need to rush.
As long as the results come in eventually, that’s what counts.
Even if the end product isn’t great, it’s fine.
They’re both beginners, so as long as I can hammer them with feedback, they’ll improve.
I’ve experienced that kind of harsh feedback myself.
You toughen up when you get hit over and over.
As we chatted, Jeong-hoon also settled nearby.
“Ah, Jeong-hoon.”
I casually called out to him.
Come to think of it, I had something to ask Jeong-hoon too.
“Yes?”
“Do you need another feature for the track?”
Since it’s possible to add one more person, I asked, but Jeong-hoon shook his head.
“Nah, it seems like Tenshi will be enough.”
“Alright, then.”
“But why?”
“Oh, never mind; don’t worry about it.”
Hmm… should I use Sake for another part?
I need to find a way to use that promise I made earlier, but I’ll have to think about it a bit more.
Lost in thought, I was glancing at Jeong-hoon chatting with Lee Seo-yeon when an unrelated but curious thought crossed my mind.
“Um….”
“Yes?”
“Do you watch my broadcast often?”
Both of them flinched at that question.
What’s this reaction about?
Oh.
“I’m not going to ask for your IDs.”
“Phew….”
“Come on, you both watch it, right?”
Last time I pried into their Dwitch IDs, maybe they thought I would dig again?
Well, I gave up halfway anyway.
What would be the point of hiding if I’m just going to get found out?
Plus, if there are really some harsh comments in the chat, I’d probably get hurt by it.
Anyway, I’ll think about that later…
“Is there something you want to see on my broadcast?”
“Huh?”
“I’m just curious about what both of you, as viewers, would like to see.”
Though Jeong-hoon and Lee Seo-yeon are part of the Miro Family now, they were viewers before. Suddenly, I found myself interested in what they might want from my broadcasting.
“I’m not promising anything; I’m just wondering.”
It’s not like I’d implement whatever they say right away! I’m just casually asking now that we met.
And it’s also a way for me to gauge viewer needs.
“As for me? I really like Civilization or Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The longer you broadcast, the better!”
“Oh, is that so?”
Lee Seo-yeon was the first to respond to the question. Given it was similar to what we asked in interviews, her answer echoed that sentiment.
“What do you feel when you watch?”
“It’s a bit strange to explain since I’m not watching it properly… but I enjoy having it on.”
She didn’t watch it properly, huh? Hearing that kind of stings a bit.
I do put in a lot of effort into my gaming!
“But I think I’ve gained some nice trivia from you.”
“Is that so?”
“Yeah, it’s kind of like history, right? It feels like I’m stacking up knowledge.”
Well, I’m glad at least that much is helpful.
I don’t know what they’ll use it for, though.
“And when Miro plays, you talk a lot of random stuff, right? That’s also entertaining.”
“Random stuff, huh?”
“Yeah, like stories about the Romance of the Three Kingdoms or old battles.”
“Ah.”
I often share facts I learned from alternative history novels during my streams, is she talking about that?
But calling it random stuff… how beneficial can it really be?
If I were to mention such trivia on a date, the guy would probably like it.
…Hopefully.
I think I roughly understood what Lee Seo-yeon wanted, so I turned my gaze toward Jeong-hoon.
“What about you, Jeong-hoon? What do you like?”
“Me? I like League of Legends…”
“What? League of Legends?”
I assumed he would prefer music broadcasts, but that answer surprised me.
“Yeah… I’m still waiting for my placement.”
Is he actually waiting for that?
It’s been ages since they dropped it.
Truth be told, I hit level 30 ages ago, so I just need to see my placement, but I lost interest and haven’t logged in for a while.
“What’s your tier, Jeong-hoon?”
“Oh, me? I’m silver…”
“Oh no.”
“Ah, it’s just that my team luck isn’t great…”
“Alright, let’s leave it at that.”
Hmm… liking history games while Jeong-hoon prefers League of Legends…
In a way, what they want is completely different.
One wants a major game, while the other doesn’t seem to want a minor game?
Honestly, that wasn’t a very helpful conversation.
I can play Civ or Romance of the Three Kingdoms no matter what, and even if they tell me to play League, I probably wouldn’t even touch it.
Anyway, after that, we had other casual conversations before parting ways.
Once I got home, I continued to ponder over the music video.
Since this is my first significant track, it’d be good to create something, but going all out like my previous work seems excessive…
Rolling around on my bed and groaning over dance videos, I suddenly sat up.
Why am I stressing over this?
I can just ask someone experienced, right?
And since the song is done, I definitely need to give a call to let them know.
With the intention of asking for some advice while I’m at it, I immediately grabbed my phone and dialed.
[Hello?]
“Ah, yes.”
[What’s the occasion for the call?]
The person I was calling was my Manager.
They were the general manager for the first generation of Celestial Realm and handled a bit of everything. Perfect for my questions.
“Ah, it’s about the upcoming song…”
[Your song? Wow, you’re quick with the news!]
“Yeah?”
Did I just get a ‘quick news’ comment about my own song?
While I briefly processed that, my Manager continued speaking quickly.
[I thought Miro might not care too much, but here you are, calling about the tracks from the juniors.]
“Ah.”
My Manager’s words cleared up my confusion right away.
Now that I think about it, tracks from the second generation are being released.
I spoke with Harbin earlier, but I completely forgot as I was focused on preparing my song.
[Is that why you called?]
“Umm….”
Forgetting about the junior tracks entirely feels a bit like a failing as a senior, doesn’t it?
“Y-yeah, that’s it.”
Of course, it’s valid as long as I don’t get caught!
“T-the time sure flies by quickly, doesn’t it?”
I’m glad I made the call.
