NOVEL NEXT Chapter Five: Getting Overpowered in the Training Ground
Atlas stepped outside, the smell of sweat and dust hit his nose and caused him to sneeze violently. Wiping his nose with the back of his hand he took a good look around.
It was just like the barbarian bartender had said.
Atlas stood on a dirt path that was lined with wooden fences, with wooden gates every 20 or so feet, the wooden gates led to large dirt areas with a training dummy on a stick that stood about 6 and a half feet tall, with a target painted on their faces and chests. Behind each of the training dummies was a rack full of all sorts of different weapons. If you instead continued down the dirt path, you would eventually reach a crossroads. Going to the left would take you to the second part of the training ground, an arena where you can spar against other adventurers. It is enchanted so that if you would be killed, you will instead be surrounded by a green light that heals you perfectly and signals the end of the fight, letting you battle at your full power.
Going forward would instead take you to the barracks, which is 6 stories tall and has 20 bunk beds on each floor. The rooms are divided with a wall that goes from the very bottom floor all the way to the top, separating the rooms so that 10 bunk beds are on one side and 10 are on the other, separating the men and women from each other and giving them more privacy. There is no more privacy besides this.
Going to the right would take you to the two bath houses and outhouses, the first of which is also separated by gender, one bath house for the men and another for the women. The bath houses are enchanted to always stay clean and warm, and are always fully stocked on towels. The outhouses are further down the path, and are magically cleaned every hour, and enchanted to always smell nice. The waste and bodily fluids are vaporized every hour along with the magical cleaning, causing it to stay perpetually clean. I'll need to use that place soon. Atlas thought wryly to himself.
Atlas walked down the path to the first unoccupied training area. Opening the gate and walking inside.
You have entered a training zone! All skill exp will be gained 1.2 times faster. (This is not multiplying the base skill exp acquisition, but the overall skill acquisition speed.)

Atlas's eyes bulged. He gained that much more skill exp than a normal person!?! How did they ever increase their skills? He struggled so much just to get one increase.
System Error Discovered
Atlas froze upon seeing this message. What did system error even mean? He hadn't thought the system making errors was even possible until just now.
Error: Skill Exp for Player [Atlas] was only 200% instead of 200,000% this is a significant error, searching for cause…
Cause discovered. When Player [Atlas] gained Skill [Avatar of Slow Profitable Death] Skill Exp Acquisition was divided instead of multiplied. This happened because of- ERROR. Player [Atlas] does not require this information.
Solution: Restore Player [Atlas] to what his Skill Exp rate should actually be. No further help needed as that benefit alone places Player [Atlas] far above others of his level and tier.

Atlas hung still for a brief moment. There was a long moment as he read over the report sent by the system over and over, trying to process the information given to him.
"Huh." Was all he could get out.
Skill Gained: Speech (D)
There was that ridiculous skill speed coming through. He literally had a thousand times faster skill gain rate, and he had already had a decent skill gain speed. "This is going to be ridiculous."

Atlas blinked. Pausing for a second before grinning. "If it's already leveling up so quickly, what will happen if I just talk and talk and talk? Will it just continue to upgrade? How much will I have to talk at later levels? What does the skill speech even do for me? Make me understand English better? Scratch that will the skill make me charismatic? Please make me charismatic, I would love to be popular for the first time in my life, I mean, I've had friends, but I was never really popular. I should probably stop talking and see what bonuses this rant gave me." He said before shutting up and staring impatiently at his notifications.

Atlas watched as multiple lucky bonuses appeared until he was left with the final product.

Atlas simply shook his head and laughed. "What the heck is even happening right now?"

Atlas snorted softly and stepped towards the dummy, summoning his scythe and advancing on the dummy.

Atlas sighed before shaking his head. The least he could do was level up his newly gained skills to make sure that they weren't utterly useless. He proceeded to advance towards the dummy, using Misty Step so that when he reached it he teleported to where he began, creating a constant cycle that he repeated over and over. He devoted his whole being to taking the next step, the next step, over and over until his legs collapsed. He looked around and judged that only about an hour had passed, so why was he feeling so tired?
Before he had time to question this further. The skill upgrades rolled in.

Atlas woke up, staring up at the sky. He had pushed himself, trying to get all the benefits he could, it had given him an insane amount of new and powerful skills, but he felt extremely lightheaded and queasy. Maybe he had pushed himself too hard. Lifting himself off the ground, he walked- or more accurately dragged- himself over to the barracks, going up one flight of stairs and collapsing on the nearest available bed.
He was asleep before his head ever touched the pillow.
