Chapter 50
Chapter 50: Firefighter Zhao Renzhou
Inside the base, Zhao Bao walked to Zhao Renzhou’s bedroom. He knocked on the door and waited. After a moment, Zhao Hu’s voice sounded, “Come in.”
Zhao Bao pushed the door open and saw Zhao Hu. He asked, “Where’s big brother?”
Zhao Hu looked towards the inner room and replied, “He’s sleeping. Have the mercenaries arrived?”
Zhao Bao nodded, and Zhao Hu got excited as he stood up. “I’ll go meet them,” he said, heading briskly towards the exit.
Zhao Bao couldn’t help but sigh, “Hey! Be sure to talk to them nicely and don’t scare them.”
He called out in the direction of Zhao Hu’s departure. Zhao Hu waved his hand and shouted back from the corridor, “Got it.”
At that moment, the door to the inner room also opened.
Zhao Renzhou walked out and greeted, “You’re back.”
Zhao Bao replied with a soft “Big brother” and joined Zhao Renzhou on the sofa.
Zhao Renzhou poured two cups of tea, offering one to Zhao Bao. After taking a few sips, he asked, “How are these new recruits?”
Zhao Bao smiled and replied, “They seem promising. They all appear to be quite competent. They’re former soldiers from a special forces brigade and a boxing regiment in Longguo, and they’re also Longguo nationals. Training new members should be no problem.”
In this area near the Longguo border, the currency used in daily life was a mix of Burmese kyats and Longguo yuan. Most of the people spoke a dialect that was similar to Longguo’s language, so communication wasn’t a significant issue.
However, one crucial requirement for the two remaining mercenary groups was to have at least one member who was proficient in Longguo’s language to ensure smooth training.
Zhao Bao put a lot of effort into the selection process, and Zhao Renzhou nodded in approval.
“That’s good,” Zhao Renzhou said. “Once everyone arrives, you come back too. Join them for two months of training.”
“No problem,” Zhao Bao replied. He then brought up the matter of the attempted assassination by the Shan State Army.
“Do you think we should give them a warning?” Zhao Bao’s idea of a warning was far from ordinary; it carried a strong scent of gasoline.
Zhao Renzhou smiled and shook his head. He poured himself another cup of tea and said, “Not for now. This matter isn’t over yet. Let the fire burn out first.”
The forest fire had been raging for three days now, and there was no sign of it stopping. They had no way of knowing when it would finally be extinguished. It wouldn’t be prudent to start another fire right now.
Thinking about how he hadn’t fought at full strength since receiving the serum, Zhao Renzhou pondered for a moment and added, “I’ll deal with it after this fire is out.”
Zhao Renzhou outlined his plan, saying, “Here’s what we’ll do. Arrange for some media coverage, leak some internal information about me. Let them know that I’m staying at my estate for a while. Reduce half of the guards there. I want to see what kind of people they can hire with 500,000 Free Coins. Let’s see if they’re up to the challenge.”
He had a sly smile on his face. However, Zhao Bao couldn’t help but express his concerns, furrowing his brows.
“Isn’t that risky, big brother?” Zhao Bao asked. “And with you away, what about the operation of the company?”
Zhao Renzhou waved his hand dismissively and said, “No worries. My safety is not an issue. These are all minor problems. You guys focus on your training. We now control three towns. In a couple of months, when the raw materials are ready for harvesting…”
He paused, emphasizing the significance of the timing, “That will be the time to reap what we’ve sown.”
Zhao Renzhou continued, “Each of you will lead a team to eliminate the other three towns. Let those mercenary groups attack the fourth town.
Once we control all seven towns along the border, I can safely return to our country for a while.”
Zhao Bao’s eyes widened in disbelief, and he exclaimed, “Is this for real? Big brother, you’re going back to our homeland?!”
Zhao Bao’s excitement was even greater than Zhao Renzhou’s own. After all, Zhao Renzhou hadn’t returned home in many years. This homecoming would be a significant event for the Zhao family, with elaborate celebrations and a grand welcome awaiting him.
Zhao Renzhou smiled and asked, “So, are you coming with me?”
The thought of returning home after three years was tempting for Zhao Bao. He hesitated for a moment and then said, “Well, I suppose I can make it work.”
Zhao Renzhou patted Zhao Bao on the shoulder and said, “That’s settled, then. We’ll go together.”
“Two months from now, come back with me to our homeland,” Zhao Renzhou suggested. “By then, things should have settled down here, and we can focus on stable development.
Regarding the group’s affairs, you and Zhao Zhan can take turns managing them. I’ll play the role of a ‘behind-the-scenes mastermind,'” he added with a playful tone.
This suggestion brought a smile to Zhao Bao’s face. Then, he remembered something and asked, “By the way, big brother, should we meet with those mercenaries? They’re currently selecting weapons.”
Zhao Renzhou shook his head and replied, “No need to meet them. I’ll be heading to the villa shortly. You can arrange things for them.”
Zhao Bao nodded and said, “Understood.”
As Zhao Renzhou got up, he instructed, “Alright, you go ahead and make arrangements. I’ll head to the villa now.”
Zhao Bao followed him as they left the room.
In the corridor outside, the Dragon Nation mercenaries, led by Captain Chen Jie and Yuan Lu, were both astonished and shocked. Their eyes were filled with amazement as they watched the confrontation between four individuals on the ground.
When the imposing and muscular Zhao Hu, who exuded a fierce aura, came out to greet them and proposed a sparring match, they were taken aback. Zhao Hu’s massive physique left them in disbelief.
The squad leader, Guo Si, who was a seasoned assault specialist, couldn’t help but feel challenged by Zhao Hu’s presence. He watched as they engaged in a brief contest, and in less than five seconds, Guo Si found himself being lifted and thrown seven to eight meters away. Even when he got back on his feet, his head was still spinning in confusion.
Was this fair? Could this be considered reasonable? Guo Si was no lightweight, weighing around 175 pounds and boasting a muscular physique.
Yet he had been effortlessly lifted and thrown such a distance. It was almost as if he were dealing with a superhuman.
To add insult to injury, Zhao Hu wore a mocking smile on his face throughout the ordeal. This left the mercenaries even more bewildered and incredulous.
“This is roughly how it went.
The scene of the three heroes battling Lu Bu.
But considering Zhao Hu’s appearance,
It would be more suitable to call it the three heroes against an evil force…
At this moment, Zhao Bao walked out.
Watching the scene in the field,
He found it somewhat amusing.
Approaching Chen Jie, he said:
“How is it, Captain Chen?”
“Have you made your selections?”
Chen Jie and Yuan Lu turned to look at him.
Chen Jie responded slowly:
“We’ve made our selections.”
“This gentleman…”
Looking at Zhao Hu in the field,
Zhao Bao smiled and said:
“I’m Zhao Bao, and he’s Zhao Hu.”
“He’s my own brother.”
As his words fell silent,
Sighs—
Sighs—
The voices of Chen Jie and Yuan Lu inhaling sharply.
Looking at Zhao Hu’s body, which resembled that of a raging bear, and his fierce face,
And then looking at Zhao Bao, who, although somewhat gloomy, had a slender physique,
It was impossible to associate them as brothers in any way.”
Chen Jie’s mouth twitched:
“Your brother here…”
“Has some seriously impressive physical qualities…”
“If he lived in ancient times,”
“He’d be a one-man army.”
“No doubt about it.”
“With that physique and armor,”
“He could just carry a big sword and wreak havoc.”
“But unfortunately, it’s modern times now.”
“We’ve got firearms.”
“In close combat, Zhao Hu is unmatched, no doubt.”
“But if someone wanted to take him down, it wouldn’t be too hard.”
Zhao Bao shook his head and smiled:
“We, brothers, are just a bit better in terms of physique.”
“That’s why Big Brother took an interest in us.”
“We’ve been wandering around all this time.”
“But it’s all experiential learning; we lack systematic training.”
“For the next little while, we might need your help.”
“Oh, and one more thing.”
“I want to apologize.”
“My eldest brother,”
“He’s got some urgent business and needs to leave for a while.”
“I don’t think you’ll get to meet him.”
Chen Jie nodded:
“No problem, we understand.”
“After all, it’s such a big corporation.”
“He must be a really busy person,” Chen Jie remarked.
They exchanged a few more pleasantries.
Not far away,
A black jeep pulled out.
Chen Jie glanced back,
Suddenly feeling a chill run down his spine.
As if there was some fierce beast lurking behind those pitch-black car windows.
Chen Jie’s pupils contracted.
It wasn’t hard to guess that Zhao Renzhou was behind those windows…
The intensity of this presence…
He didn’t dare to think too much about it.
He turned his head to look at the ongoing battle in the field.
What the others didn’t know was that the group wasn’t really that busy right now.
Zhao Renzhou had some matters to attend to.
Zhao Ning and Chi Yunmeng,
These two had been together for nearly two days,
And they were on the verge of fighting each other…
Zhao Renzhou had to go put out that fire…
