Chapter 617: Another Explosion
Roland's actions were very smooth, Jimmy just simulated it in his mind and was already feeling overwhelmed. Roland's strong and agile physique really belonged to talent, there were movements Jimmy simply couldn't do, making it too difficult for him to master them. He could only experiment and train one by one to see where his limits truly lay.
Nia noticed Jimmy watching the video, and came over to take a look, then was directly flabbergasted.
Nia: "Who is this person? So strong."
Jimmy: "A special person, I'm learning from him how to use the revolver, but I'm still far from his level."
Nia turned to look at Jimmy: "You can do it too?"
Jimmy: "A little bit, but there's a big gap between us, completely incomparable. Just treat this like a movie scene, this isn't something ordinary people can achieve, even thinking about it feels hopeless. Okay, let's rest."
Jimmy turned off the video, put it back in the safe, and pulled Nia along to wash up and sleep.
Over the weekend, Jimmy didn't go to the training ground, but instead prepared his materials. The arrangement with New York University was completely settled, now it was just about getting all the materials ready to soon become a working remote-learning pre-student.
Because Kevin helped find someone, Jimmy didn't go through the normal entrance assessment, nor were there any other time restrictions, as long as he could manage subjects meeting basic requirements to accumulate credits, he could smoothly complete his studies. So Jimmy had been waiting for news, now it was the time to prepare materials.
Besides Kevin's help and policies from the bureau, Jimmy quietly donated a considerable sum to a certain education fund as an important aid. In short, with money, people, and policy, many things didn't need too much attention, all was settled with green lights.
In addition to normal studies, Jimmy enrolled in Spanish courses to directly make up for his hard deficiency this time. His spirit now has already far exceeded ordinary people; besides having a nearly photographic memory, he needs only a little deep sleep each day to sustain his energy for a whole day, both are enough for Jimmy to greatly shorten study time, selecting a bit more courses each semester for faster credit accumulation.
Now the only lack is time. The school isn't always available for exams to get credits, so he can only wait for regular end-of-term assessments.
Kevin and Alex Green's communication was probably very smooth. Within just a few days, Kevin's call came through for Jimmy to choose the time to guide Elliot, which of course can only be done on weekends; Elliot is still in elementary school, so he can't skip school just to practice shooting.
Speaking of which, learning to shoot might be a bit early for a ten-year-old, especially in a big city like New York; if it were in a southern state or a remote farm area, it would be relatively normal.
However, these are all considerations for Alex as a father. His decision is most important, when he couldn't refuse Elliot's request to find Jimmy, everything was already destined.
Mark and Julia had to suspend the case of the victim being beheaded after investigating for a few days due to isolation and lack of witnesses or relevant clues. They spent a few days and couldn't obtain useful information, even Mark sought out former colleagues to reinvestigate another similar symbol person, but still got no clues.
Jimmy saw them looking dejected, thought for a moment, sat on the sofa making tea, and called them over to chat.
A case with no clues isn't a major issue, there are indeed many cases in the FBI database lacking clues. Many have leads but no suspect positioning, and these cases get shelved; some have been shelved for decades. Not to mention investigation, related personnel might have already passed away.
Jimmy didn't want them getting stuck in a dead end, making tea to guide them, it's better to continue with further cases. Although no case is in yet.
Mark: "I know many historical cases remain unsolved, but it's still hard to just give up when we've just joined and encountered such circumstances early on. Yan, how about your cases? What's your resolution rate?"
Jimmy took a small cup, blew softly at it, took a sip, then said: "Over 80%, but I also have many cases left unresolved, nobody can completely avoid this. I've never heard of anyone having a 100% resolution rate."
Mark: "That's still very high. During these days I looked up, the average resolution rate at most divisions is less than 70%."
Jimmy said with a smile: "That's for sure, otherwise how could I be acting as the Homicide Team? I'm not the president's son. My badge was earned one shot at a time."
Mark: "I heard you resolved a hijacking incident on your own? Is it the case we were taught about during training at Quantico? That should be the recent hijacking incident."
Jimmy nodded: "That's right, but at that time it was very lucky. Later, we investigated other aircraft models and found that not many cabins allowed viewing into the cockpit. If the model were different, I wouldn't have been able to do anything. By now, it's likely reinforced, that case is no longer a reference."
Mark: "It's truly impressive, others might not have been able to do it at all."
Julia: "Yes, our course had a cabin model with a very small hole; the visual range was also very small. Others might not have been able to shoot through it."
