Chapter 577: Back to the Homicide Team (Part 4)
What can be confirmed now is that there are no traces of a chemical bomb at the explosion site, it is certainly a dust explosion, and the explosive material is flour dust. However, to reach the level of a flour dust explosion, the dust concentration in the room needs to be very high, which generally does not happen unless deliberately.
Jimmy looked at the information, ran to the administration department, and Tim Dunn already knew that Jimmy was returning to the fieldwork, so when Jimmy just mentioned he needed a car, Tim had already taken out a car key, "It's ready for you, still a Suburban, hidden police lights and siren, and a complete car radio."
Jimmy smiled and took the key, hugged Tim: "Thanks, Tim. Let's have a drink sometime."
Tim waved his hand: "Forget about the drink, just save this car a bit, you change cars more frequently than anyone else in the bureau."
Jimmy shrugged: "Can't help it, the criminals I encounter are always so ruthless. If I just got shot a few times, I wouldn't need to change cars."
Tim: "Yeah, a grenade exploded under the car, and that car was directly declared as scrap!"
Jimmy: "Next time there's an exciting scenario like that, I'll park the car further away, okay? By the way, can we modify our car doors a bit more? Having just a bulletproof door on the driver's side feels a little inadequate."
Tim: "It's standardized, the front doors on both sides are bulletproof. As for making the whole car bulletproof, don't even think about it."
Jimmy: "Alright, I'll be off then. Just returned to the Homicide Team, there's already a case to handle, got to get busy again."
Tim shook hands with Jimmy to say goodbye: "Take care."
Jimmy returned to the office and re-investigated the profiles of the three dead victims, not because he didn't trust the results of Mahong and the others before, but he's used to doing his own checks.
In the afternoon, just before Jimmy left the office for Brooklyn, he received a call to return to the office.
When Jimmy returned to the office, he went to the conference room next to Hughes' former office, already crowded with people. In addition to several group leaders, there was someone Jimmy rarely saw, John Thompson, the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Manhattan office division.
Having returned from outside, Jimmy was already late, and department adjustments had already been announced, which was about the same as what Ruiz had said before, with a little difference.
Peter Bullock, who just returned to the office today to start work, attracted a supervisor from the Washington, D.C. headquarters in the morning and issued an invitation to Peter.
Some high-level personnel had already noticed Peter, he had dealt with a corrupt senator, although there were some twists, he still earned a lot of reputation for the FBI, so a Washington D.C. supervisor named Bruce extended an invitation to Peter, and he will be arranged to work in D.C. later.
However, before going to D.C., Peter needs to change an office, next door to Hughes and Karaway's office.
Hughes' former position was Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC), and Peter did not refuse, so the position change in the afternoon was announced by John Thompson, the Manhattan office manager.
Additionally, there's another change, Alexander Mahong was transferred from the Homicide Team to the White-Collar Team, taking Peter's position. Naturally, this transfer should have been arranged after Peter took office, but now it's directly announced by John, meaning they had already communicated in advance.
After returning to the field department, Jimmy Yang acted as the agent for the Homicide Team, which surprised others, but Peter, Mahong, and the rest didn't have much reaction, so the others had nothing to say.
After the announcements, the manager John led his team out of the conference room, and everyone began to congratulate Peter, Mahong, and Jimmy, the scene was once very chaotic.
Originally, Jimmy planned to investigate the relationship of the three deceased victims with their relatives but now didn't bother to go out, and just went back to the Homicide Team with Mahong, "Mahong, when are you moving over?"
Mahong: "Tomorrow. From now on, this place is your responsibility. Do a good job, you might get promoted soon."
Jimmy: "Don't worry, before you came, the Homicide Team was just me alone for a long time, not much of a problem."
While walking, Mahong nodded, "Looks like I'll be in New York for a long time."
Jimmy: "Of course, you're essentially getting a promotion this time, maybe you'll become the manager one day."
Mahong: "Well, maybe it's time to buy an apartment, any recommendations?"
Jimmy: "Manhattan is quite expensive, Brooklyn is a bit cheaper, are you thinking of going to Jersey City?"
Mahong: "Let's go for Brooklyn, I'll look into it later."
Jimmy: "Actually, if Peter really goes to D.C..."
Mahong: "I'll look for a real estate agent."
Jimmy: "OK, it's your house, you make the call. By the way, when you go to the White-Collar Team, pay attention to Neil Cavrey; he doesn't exactly follow rules and seems to have quite a few underworld friends."
Mahong nodded: "I'll keep an eye on it, Peter still needs to hand over some things to me. Besides, he's still here, I can confirm with him if needed."
-----------------
Jimmy called and arranged an afternoon tea to celebrate with people from various departments, he looked at the time and decided to leave the investigation for the next day.
The bakery explosion case in Brooklyn is relatively easy to investigate, owner Jeffrey Adams, a white male in his fifties. According to Mahong's earlier investigation, neighbors around the bakery and Jeffrey's home speak highly of him, depicting him as very kind and friendly, and also a very good baker.
The chefs are Harry Thompson and Emily Russell, they are master and apprentice. Harry Thompson has worked for Jeffrey for almost 10 years, is truly an elder of this bakery, and the second chef after owner Jeffrey.
Emily Russell has followed Harry Thompson for three years, a single mother, previously a waitress, later learning baking from Harry and successfully gaining employment.
The third victim was Jeffrey Adams' nephew, Benjamin Scott, who had just gotten out of prison half a year ago for a previous burglary sentence.
Upon release, Benjamin was still idling, so Jeffrey couldn't just stand by, bringing him to his bakery to learn baking from Harry, at least giving him a skill; once learned, he could have a good survival skill, whether working for others or opening a bakery himself, much better than he is now.
Their identities are quite clear, very promising compared to cases Jimmy handled before.
