Chapter 251: Damien, No!
"You've committed a grave offense." he said, his voice cool and sharp, like a blade fresh from the forge. "You dared to slaughter my people. My sect. The Celestial Blaze Sect does not forgive, nor forget. For that, your death is not only justified, it is ordained."
He turned his head slowly toward Nyxara and Lyrisa, letting his gaze linger with unspoken contempt, then shifted back to Damien with theatrical gravity.
"But I am merciful," he said with a measured sigh. "Surrender now, and I will grant you a quick death. No more than a few screams of pain. Your bodies will remain mostly intact. Your souls? Well—" he smiled faintly, "that depends on your karma."
Damien tilted his head slightly.
There was silence for a beat.
Then he smiled.
"Ah." he said, voice filled with mock wonder, "Another stuck up retard. So you think that you damned fire rats can attack and kill everyone, and everyone else must bow down, wash their necks and present it to you?"
"As is fitting for useless peasants." Wu Jinhai sneered with endless arrogance.
"Hahaha! You're the perfect example of the rotten core of nobility. I will do the universe a favor and kill you today. In fact, I'll do the universe a big favor and kill every single one of your buddies as well." Damien laughed magnanimously.
Wu Jinhai's expression didn't crack immediately, but the corners of his eyes twitched, just slightly. Around him, several of his flame-cloaked subordinates stiffened, their auras flaring in instinctive response.
"You dare insult-" Wu Jinhai began, voice rising, the first hint of genuine rage entering his tone.
"No, no," Damien cut him off smoothly, raising a single finger like a lecturer pausing to correct a misinformed student. "I don't just dare to say it. I dare to act on it. There's a difference. You'll learn it soon."
The temperature dropped a fraction, despite the fire gathering around Wu Jinhai's frame.
Lyrisa let out a soft whistle, amused.
Nyxara raised a brow, clearly wondering how far Damien intended to push this.
Wu Jinhai's eyes narrowed. "You are either very brave or profoundly suicidal. Either way… Today is your death anniversary!"
His flames surged upward, the golden script on his robes igniting into radiant fire sigils. His fists clenched, and the air around him shimmered with heat distortion.
"I will burn your arrogance from this realm." he growled, every syllable dripping molten fury. "When I'm done, even your ashes will scream."
Damien stepped forward just once, his voice dropping slightly.
"You talk too much." he said softly. "Come at me, retard."
He snapped his fingers.
The undead shifted in unison.
A hundred elite corpses raised their weapons in perfect silence, glowing eyes fixed on Wu Jinhai like executioners waiting for a command.
Twilight sword echoes gleamed coldly. Soulweaver shadows pulsed like eager maws. The remnants of Celestial Blaze sect members now stood facing their former heir, unmoved, obedient only to death.
Wu Jinhai's aura flared to its peak, and yet, for a single heartbeat, he hesitated.
Damien watched him without blinking.
"I've killed your people. I've stolen their power. I wear their luck like a cloak and I don't feel the slightest guilt," he said. "You call that a crime. I call it the price of their mediocrity."
"Die!" Wu Jinhai hissed, flames gathering into a colossal lance of burning sigils over his shoulder.
And then, the world ignited.
Wu Jinhai raised both hands, and from them surged a river of divine fire, compressed into a tidal wave of incineration. It screamed across the air, intending to swallow Damien, Nyxara, and Lyrisa in one glorious, fiery cascade.
The fire struck the undead front line.
And stopped.
The flame hit with the force of a mountain collapsing, but the first of Damien's undead, a Soulweaver with reinforced bones and anti-spirit armor, absorbed the blast without flinching.
Behind him, three Twilight Blade warriors stepped forward, blades raised, and split the attack down its center, allowing the heat to pass without touching their master.
Damien didn't move.
Wu Jinhai blinked.
His powerful attack had been deflected.
By corpses.
"Try again." Damien said calmly. "Or you can run like the rotten coward that you are, chicken."
The undead took a single synchronized step forward, the sound like a drumbeat echoing through the golden sky.
"Pretty good for a pile of filthy carcasses." Wu Jinhai sneered. "Let's see you survive my Divine Fire Seed then."
The laughter of the Celestial Blaze Sect members echoed like war drums as Wu Jinhai raised both arms high, his robes flaring outward in a majestic display of arrogance and power.
The air twisted around him, shimmering with scorching heat. Flames surged upward from beneath his feet, not wild or chaotic but disciplined, regal, as though the world itself bowed in reverence to his cultivation.
And then it came.
The Divine Fire Seed ignited.
A pillar of flame descended from the heavens and engulfed Wu Jinhai, fusing with his core and transforming his aura into something ancient and holy. The temperature in the air spiked so violently that several nearby floating stones cracked apart from thermal pressure alone.
The sky, previously threaded with strands of fate and fortune, now blazed with a reddish-gold hue, reflecting the unnatural light of a sun that had no business existing here.
From Wu Jinhai's chest burst forth a lotus of divine fire, spinning with quiet malevolence, its petals shaped from immortal-grade sigils. The moment it bloomed, Damien's elite undead—the fearsome warriors raised from the corpses of top sect cultivators, began to disintegrate.
One by one, without even being touched directly, they turned to ash.
No screams. No final stance. Just immediate, total obliteration.
The undead general from the Twilight Blade Sect dissolved mid-swing. The Soulweaver specter disintegrated with a soundless sigh. Dozens of Damien's strongest puppets simply ceased to be, their deathbound will no match for the sheer purity and divine violence of the flame.
Within seconds, over a hundred elite undead were gone.
Lyrisa screamed in shock. "Damien, no—!"
